This sounds exactly like what happened to Payne Stewart in 1999. The plane he was on, a Learjet 35, crashed in South Dakota with no survivors. The NTSB eventually determined that the crash was a result of crew member incapacitation due to a loss of cabin pressure.

Everyone was unconscious in their seats except a crew member who could only keep it going in circles before they passed out till they ran out of fuel. Maybe it lost pressure when they turned to line up to land. Just a guess. They made the left hand turn and flew right over the destination airport. Maybe someone else knows more about the autopilot, but I think you can set all of the waypoints along the route. Once the last waypoint is reached, I believe the autopilot will just keep the plane on the same heading. That would explain the course this plane took. The pilot could have have been incapacitated any time after the autopilot was turned armed.
Planes, military planes included, are only allowed to go over the sound barrier when given special permission. Sonic booms can shatter windows from miles up, not something the military wants to happen over civilian airspace on a regular basis. Howd the plane make it exactly to Islip, NY, then make a perfect u-turn and reverse course if the pilot was incapacitated?
I live in mid VA and we’ve got fighter jets buzzing around all the time and the sonic booms never sound like that.
A sidewinder missile, however....
I question the flight path also . Can auto pilot do that ???
It probably had something to do with autopilot.
Maybe it lost pressure when they turned to line up to land. Just a guess. They made the left hand turn and flew right over the destination airport.
Maybe someone else knows more about the autopilot, but I think you can set all of the waypoints along the route. Once the last waypoint is reached, I believe the autopilot will just keep the plane on the same heading. That would explain the course this plane took. The pilot could have have been incapacitated any time after the autopilot was turned armed.
Planes, military planes included, are only allowed to go over the sound barrier when given special permission. Sonic booms can shatter windows from miles up, not something the military wants to happen over civilian airspace on a regular basis. Not everything is a conspiracy, most of time it's just your ignorance.
We live in the path of an air force base. The jets constantly set off car alarms and make the ground shake. It is very annoying.

Hopefully the flight recorder will let us know what happened. Sorry to hear about the crash, if it's another issue with loss of cabin pressure then it's high time that aircraft manufacturers did something about this and put in emergency systems to handle flight controls - those systems exist on many modern aircraft, maybe it's time all aircraft had them and not just the ones for the wealthiest of the wealthy.

This all sounds sketchy to me.... Why are they focusing so much on the sonic boom like most people don't already know what it is and glazing over the fact that a plane with four passengers "crashed" into a mountainous area. They said the pilot was slumped over and unresponsive but what about the passengers???

If plane loses cabin pressure then the pilots and crew are suffering the same fate at the same time. The f16s that were scrambled found the pilot unresponsive and probably saw smoke and fog on some of the windows. They should’ve put that tid bit in there

Wow..."passed out pilot", four souls on board when it went down, and no follow-up on who they were or the tragedy of their lost lives? I understand the newsworthiness of it...being near DC airspace, and sonic booms being a minor but startling thing to people, but loss of life doesn't seem to rate much interest these days. Dude - This just happened... They have to see if there is a flight recorder, black box, etc., and if there is and they are undamaged, they can read them and find a lot of information that will THEN help them with the rest of it.. For sure, if they found the passengers AND their ID's, they have already contacted next of kin, etc., and that part is probably done... Of course, the next of kin may not want to be interviewed for awhile, as the grieving process begins... It's not the reporters fault... It's people like you that seem to want instant everything, when that is not always possible...

The reason they are pressing the "sonic boom" so hard is because they shot down that plane. My uncle retired from the Air Force and then retired from Boeing. I've heard several sonic booms before and it's impossible to hear them that far. They are talking about the sound as much as the deaths of 4 people. Wake up.

The pilot or co-pilot probably forgot to turn on the cabin pressurization switch to allow the engine to convert outside air into breathable air inside the cabin.
I remembered watching the Helios Flight 522 on Air Crash Investigation crashing on a hill once fuel ran out and the plane was on auto-pilot mode.
Why are Americans so nervous? F-16 against innocent civilians? Why?
