A lot of people could get mad at Abby for what she did, but in an apocalypse there’s no “Right” way. If we didn’t know Ellie and Joel and we had TLOU 1 through Abby’s story, the fanbase would be on her side.
Exactly. I have a weird theory that the game devs always knew that fans would be divided over this game, and they knew it by saying how it was about hatred. Hate over the story, over the characters, over the choices made. TLOU 1 was a feel good, heart warming story. TLOU 2 took it, and knowing what would happen, shattered it into a million pieces. And the truth is, no realistic apocalypse story ends with rainbows and cotton candy. The sad thing is, everyone fucks up, and there's very little you can do to change that.
@@RiskierGoose340 if there’s one impressive thing - it’s good that they build a world with characters that fans can attach and relate to. You can tell when the writing is done well if it causes so much controversy.
@@matthew.maduli Agreed. Just watched philn0va's "What makes a Man?" video about Joel and cried. In my recommended, there's another video titled as "Why Joel's death makes zero sense." This is as huge of a division in a fanbase as Smash's Melee players sticking to the game when Brawl released.
In my opinion, i dont give a fuck about abby. Glad to have burned his (yes his, not her) father alive with my flame thrower. And his friend who called me "you fucking animal", ah so satisfying
Nah Abby's dad was about to murder a little girl for the "greater good". So he got murder instead, Abby also knew that and agreed to that, I'm 100% sure ellie would've agreed to her death if it meant they'll make a cure but they did not ask her, they were gonna kill her and they lied to her. So yeah, his dad was a villain, joel killed a villain. Abby seeked revenge but it was not bc her father was the hero and joel was the villan.
@@sebastyann123 Abby’s dad was NOT a bad man. He made a mistake because he wouldn’t not wait until finding a potential cure and the rest of the Fireflies didn’t even want to let Joel say goodbye to Ellie. Also don’t forget what Joel joined once the Hunters in Pittsburgh back then , not to mention that he lied to Ellie at the end of the first game. NOBODY is innocent in that context, not Joel, not Tommy, Abby’s dad, not Abby herself and not even Ellie. ( I know you gonna upset by what I just say but it is the true).
Ellie and Abby went through the same things just not at the same time. Abby relentlessly pursued Joel to kill him for murdering her father and achieving that goal but when we play as her after that shows she hasn't gotten the peace of making the choice she did and is still tormented by her nightmares. Only after meeting and traveling with Yara and Lev do they stop haunting her. It's ironic that she develops the same bond with Lev just like Joel and Ellie did. It's unfortunate that Abby takes the same thing away from Ellie like Joel did to her. Their beloved fathers. By the time she encounters Ellie one last time, Abby's moved on from her hatred. But Ellie hasn't yet and deep down, Ellie knows she won't achieve the closure and satisfaction she wants. Abby understands this as she already went through it and doesn't want to fight. Only after Lev is threatened she agrees. Something that we know Joel would have done if it was Ellie in danger. That flashback that Ellie has of Joel as she has the upper hand shows she realizes that her guilt won't go away even after killing Abby. The way the game reveals this flashback fully in the finale is a genius move as it puts Ellie's actions in a newer light. So both Ellie and Abby have had their neartbreaking moments at times literally next door to each other. Knowing this makes me sympathic of Abby and absolutely loving her development throughout the game.
I can sympathize for Abby and Ellie. No good or bad in this world. You do what you gotta do to survive. Joel made a decision with his heart not his head. I don’t fault him for that either. Naughty Dog wanted to make you think about what you had to do in this game. Giving the NPCs names and shit but they missed the mark when everything in the game was trying to kill us.
How does that "miss the mark"? the WLF and Seraphites strongly defend their areas. ... Ellie is an intruder to Seattle and is trying to hunt down and kill the Salt Lake crew. Given the Wolves's rules on 'outsiders' it makes sense that they're trying to kill you. ... As for the Scars, Abby is an enemy to them (as she is a Wolf) and she's in the middle of a war between them and her group...plus, she has to fight them in order to protect Lev and Yara, as the Scars are tryna kill them too. ... If we're talking specifics. These ppl are tying to kill the protagonists, so it makes sense that they have to kill, in order to defend themselves and those they're trying to protect. ... In the context of the game though...it is pointless, which makes sense, given the story being centred around the destructive nature of revenge. (Atleast in Ellie's case....Abby's might just be more focused on being in the middle of a pointless war with no real one-goal. A war costing many lives needlessly...human life is so precious, yet so expendable in TLOU world.) Ellie never needed to go out and seek revenge for Joel....doing so only led to more deaths on both sides.
@@DH-jy9tr Abby didn’t need to take revenge on Joel either. I just said I understand their choices. My point was that they wanted to give every NPC a name to humanize them more, but one, it’s a video game, two, you’ll feel less bad about it if someone tries to kill you first. That’s where they miss the mark. Not on the whole game.
@@mykalfox9381 Should've mentioned Abby's mission to kill Joel too...figured it went without mention as that needless revenge quest kickstarted everything else. ... And yeah...you do feel less bad if someone was trying to kill you first. But that to me doesn't really change the impact of the actions I don't think. - It still shocks player's when Ellie kills Mel and finds out she's pregnant, even though she and Owen attacked Ellie first. - When you kill Wolves in the first half of the game, and then see them alive at the start of Abby's campaign at the base, some with families and even kids...you feel bad. - Even Abby's friends, like Manny...get to quickly know the characters, can you really say you feel nothing for them when they eventually die? ... Maybe it's just a matter of what the player considers important? (Also - very bad point to make with the "it's a video game" line...you're saying that as if it has any meaning/bearing to my point...or worse, saying that games have no right to instill strong feelings and emotions, just because they're fiction?...a weak point to make, especially concerning the TLOU franchise, which is a strongly, story-driven experience(s))
@@DH-jy9tr Ellie had her justifications in killing the WLF from her POV. Joel was killed by people wearing WLF uniforms. Ellie assumes that Joel's murder was sanctioned by the WLF (and she is correct, Isaac gave his blessing). The WLF attack her on sight while sheltering Joel's killers. Why should she treat them differently than any hunter group? Even Dina and Jesse share that view.
@@T3AMKILL So it is all a matter of perspective that leads the game...there's many parts of the game that need to be considered from both Ellie and Abby's side of the story, in order to understand the complete events of the game and why they happen the way they do. ... Leading example: Mel/Owen's death and Abby almost killing Dina, despite Ellie telling her she's pregnant. ... Ee know from Ellie's story that Mel and Owen attacked her first, she acted out of self defense...we also know that Ellie didn't know Mel was pregnant until after what happened. ... But from Abby's POV later. She only comes across the corpses, she may have assumed that Ellie killed Mel and Owen regardless of the fact that she was pregnant or not...so in the later confrontation and Abby is about to kill Dina; in her mind, it's revenge for what she thinks is Ellie wilfully killing a pregnant woman. That's why she would've killed Dina had it not been more Lev. ... This is simply one example of how perspective affects the story, there's gotta be countless more but can't be assed to explain more now (chip in with more points of your own if you wish) ... But the point is...perspective holds a lot of importance with the story and how the characters perceive each other, and the world around them...Where Ellie may see nothing more then a large group of Hunters, protecting murderers...Abby sees a community just trying to survive by their ideals. ... I think that's what ND intended with this game...the player HAS to be willing to put themselves in the other person's shoes, see the game from their experiences. What they see and feel (even if it's not the full story) not just what the player knows/believes.
And those giraffes in the first game, that was also his doing - making sure they are fell wed and protected and have a good life. Damn, I loved him! Sneaking out from humans to chill with animals? Ah, that's so cool! And to think that when Joel killed him he killed all those animals too...
@@olgabahirkina1286 Nothing saying those animals would die without him...the giraffes atleast seem to form a tribe of sorts, and there's plenty of green to eat...so who knows? They might've been alright for a while? and maybe they still are?
@@DH-jy9tr I hope so. It's still sad to think noone's gonna be there to save them from getting on wires, that's for sure. I kinda wish Abby and Lev just go there after the fight with Ellie.
@@olgabahirkina1286 Well Abby and Lev did go off to find the Fireflies at their new base at the end...who knows? Maybe the Fireflies there have an entire zoo of animals? ... Maybe they've decided to dedicate themselves to animal preservation now? (Atleast that's a more realistic goal then trying to bring back a world that's long dead - less chance of being slaughtered by a crazed man then too.)
I completely understand everyone's perspective and decision in this game, but it probably would've been a good idea for Jerry to sit down with Joel & Ellie and talk to them about what would happen first. But then again a lot of our favorite pieces of media wouldn't exist if characters made better decisions
I wish instead of Joel straight up killing Jerry he should talk things out with Jerry. Jerry might change his mind, and hearing Joel adopted Ellie. Because when Marlene told Jerry what if this was your daughter, he literally felt defeated and sad when he heard that. So I could see Jerry not doing surgery on Ellie if Joel just talked with Jerry instead of just plain out killing him
She lost not only the last family member she had , but also the only example of love in her life, and had to grow up with that shitty enviroment of violence, war and no mercy, and that explains a lot about herself in my perspective, just like Joel when Ellie entered his life we saw how much he changed, how he became his old self again , like before the virus broke out, same with Abby and Lev , we could see in Santa Barbara how Abby was more open with Lev , he made her became her old self again , just like Ellie did with Joel
I love the scene where Abby makes contact with a Firefly outpost. She finally feels like there's a group that's willing to accept both her and Lev. The WLF was going to kill Lev, the Seraphites (or Scars) wanted Lev dead anyway, and would also want Abby dead, they didn't even know about the rattlers, and wouldn't have joined them anyway most likely, and Jackson can't happen because she killed Joel. Knowing that there is finally a place that she can be safe finally brings out a bit of her more loving side.
I honestly love this character, in my opinion, she competes with Clementine from the walking dead in being the best character to ever be written in a videogame Everything she does is for a good reason, and her character arch with finding a new meaning in life when she met Lev and his sister is one of the best i've ever seen
Also Laura Bailey did an amazing job playing not just the character, but also her vulnerability and redemption arc. She earned that game of the year award for best performance as abby!
I like Abby too, but to put her up there with Clem is crazy lol. We have not seen enough of Abby to gauge whether she can be considered that good or not since she's only going to be in one game.
Whaaaat?? "Everything she does is for a good reason", so Hate is a good reason to kill someone, ah thanks didnt know that. Wanting to kill a pregnant girl bc someone she loved was killed (oh hate again, sry) is a good reason??? Fucking woth owen while she knows that his wofe is pregnant, IS A GOOD REASON?? What are you talking about man, and how on earth do you compare her woth clementine????????? Abby is one of the most hated charackters in gaming history (not my opinion, the majority) and you r saying such nonsense
The entire story : *[Decision]* >> Abby's father wouldn't be able to do the surgery if the person was Abby. >> Joel can't sacrifice Ellie 'cause their bonding as strong as father-and-daughter. They both choose rational things. *[Arc]* >> Abby : Bad person to good person >> Ellie : Good person to bad person Abby learn what is relationship stronger with Lev more than with Owen, so she realize that she also don't want Lev to die. + Abby realize her mistakes after killing Joel when Owen arguing about 'bad person' Ellie went from sweetheart that everybody likes but still immature, she cannot accept the truth that Joel save her life because He love her as daughter. + But again and also, Ellie realize her mistakes when she's about to drowned Abby alive, because Joel didn't want her to 'revenge'. Ps. Abby forgave Ellie and Ellie forgave Abby. *[Things that different from them]* >> Ellie have lost people that she love since she was young and had insecurities and anxiety of being showed up to new people everytime one's died. She desperate from loneliness so bad. Meanwhile Abby got all the love even after her father was killed. But Abby not being grateful that she still has friends and community that she can feel save. All that time in her mind is always revenge, just because one people died. *[The motive behind this revenge]* >> both being blind but Abby is just so sad and anger in hope that Joel deserves what he's got >> And Ellie lost her heart and had enough of experiencing so many people that she loved gone. *[At the end]* >> Both lose everything but Abby is luckier to have new home and new relationship ahead. Meanwhile Ellie had relationship and family issues she had to work with.
Thats really wholesome. I personally liked abby more than ellie in this game because in the end she redeem herself in a special way, like the same way joel did with ellie.
In my personal opinion I enjoyed abby's half of the game more than ellies. I loved the character development she got, and her relationship with lev was so wholesome, and cute. She was such a badass. (Again thats my personal opinion)
I honestly wish they would have asked Ellie. Or if they had put her under, wait for her to come to so that they can ask her. Ellie probably would have in a heartbeat and Joel, while heartbroken, wouldn’t have done what he did
I disagree even if Joel was given the chance to speak with Ellie and Ellie was given the chance to make that decision (even though Marlene knows that what she wanted), Joel still would have done what he did. He said it himself that he would. He did it out of selfish love, not because they didn't ask her opinion. He knew what he was doing and he knew It disobeyed Ellie's willingness to die for humanity, and have her immunity mean something
There's an interesting feminist critique in the problem with Ellie and her surgery. The catalyst of the death and destruction in part 2 was the stripping of agency from Ellie. Ellie wasn't consulted before her surgery. Even Joel, Ellie's "savior," didn't consult Ellie as to whether she *wanted* to be saved in the first place. Both Joel and the Fireflys made a mistake - they should have asked Ellie. I'm positive Ellie would have agreed to the surgery - whether Joel would have allowed her to, even with her consent, is unlikely in my opinion.
jerry threatens joel with a knife while trying to kill an innocent kid* “The story explores the theme of 2 sides to every story so surely he couldn’t have done wrong and didn’t deserve to be killed in self defense!”
Also Manny ( was gonna respect him until he spit on Joel s corpse and try killing Ellie like an animal in an coward way and here’s an bonus...dude even was rude to the whole WLF passing an huge que line to get tacos acting like if he was Isaac leader style ) and James ( wished Ellie could’ve knifed him on an less vital area to see him getting beaten the more on him before dying )
@@RafaelPereira-dc9ir The reason Manny spit on Joel is because he was in the room when Abby found her dad. He was also right about Ellie and Tommy coming after them.
@@mryoung6090 Its still surprising she survived because she was heavily injured and malnourished before the fight and was also stabbed in the chest by Ellie

5:20 that gives me shivers knowing Joel was so capable of mass destruction like this, an entire building full of fireflies and he massacred most of them.
To be honest, he might've just "aged well", he looks a lot like my own dad and he's 42. I'm more concerned or confused about Owen looking closer to his age than to Abby's lmao
@@trippleA123 lol....mmmkay....it is, but whateva. Look at it like this. Ellie watched the death of one person. Two technically, Jesse. But watched Joel die. Alot of people are mad at Abby But take it from her POV Your a young girl living a happy life in a community searching for a cure with friends and family Then there a chance for the world to be saved but then there some man randomly killing your friends and your dad and ruined all chances for the world to be saved Fast forward years later You see that man who killed your friends and family AND ruin that chance for a cure and have the choice of killin You'll most likely think of a revenge and kill him Beside the fact she was gonna kill a pregnant woman i genuinely can't get mad at her
Nobody "had it coming"...Joel made a decision, maybe it was selfish, but it was for love. He wasn't a Devil like Abby and the rest if the SL crew made him out to be...if things were different, maybe they coulda reconciled their differences. ... Like at the scene where Abby stands over the half-dead Joel, staring at him while the others argue behind her...I wonder if she's thinking if this is really the same man who massacred her entire people, including her father...is that really the same man whom just a few minutes ago, saved her life from an infected mob? I like to think their's a twitch of regret there...but at that point, it's far too late to turn back.
Joel made a choice that was completely human. Even Jerry would’ve made that choice. Actions have consequences, you’re right. All of Abby’s friends dying was the consequence of her actions, and she needs to live with the guilt that because she dragged out Joel’s death that reinforcements arrived and eventually all her circle of friends died.
I think if the dev kinda had bounced between the characters’ stories, the game would have been better though. But still the story is still intrigued me.
I kind of agree but at the same time I think it would have exacerbated some people's frustration, with a constant pull to want to go back to Ellie. This way, you're forced to spend that first day really bonding with Abby, so by day 2 you are really in the journey. Otherwise, you'd probably just switch to Ellie and think can't wait to kill all these people again.
Abby might not be the *best* character, but she's definitely well-written for the most part and Laura Bailey smashed it out of the park with her. Big congrats to Laura for doing her best with the character :)
I just thought for the first time watching this; Ellie lost everyone, in the end she couldn’t play Joel’s song because her fingers were missing, and she even lost her mothers knife in the final fight 😢
At 26:57 the way Abby carries a pretty much unconscious Lev reminds me of a Joel carrying an unconscious Ellie; I wonder if Ellie sees her and Joel in Abby and Lev? And that leads her to the eventual forgiveness.
She hunts Joel down after killing her father. Okay, I understand that! But Ellie kills her lover, all her friends and her dog and she lets Ellie go. that part makes no sense to me. Sometimes I wonder if she spared Ellie (after she found out she was the one that was immune) so they could still find a cure by using Ellie.
I think I like Abby more. I will always love Ellie, mainly from the first Game, but I think she sunk pretty low in Part II due to her craving revenge against Abby. At least she spared her at the end, just as Abby had done with her and Dina back at the Theatre.
If they would have let us alternate i think it would have been better. Day 1 at the same time for both. Like the beginning can mostly stay the same but when i had to play 15 hours of last of us with no ellie it did kinda suck. I don't hate this game or abby like most other people do, but i understand the frustration. Abby could have been a better character, and maybe they should have had somebody else from the gang kill joel. So we would have one side of the group that didn't really want to do it (owen, abby, pregnant girl) and maybe nora or somebody could have been ellies big bad. So we alternate and maybe abby and ellie both hate the vengeance they were forced to partake in. You would have to switch up that it was noras dad or something, but i feel like all of that together would have made abby likeable, while still being against ellie, and also make the audience think about the violent revenge more.
I think if the game tinkered around with its sequence more, it would have been more enjoyable. Start the game with Abby stuff AFTER she kills Joel. Her story plays out, and suddenly people close to her are dying, so clearly she is being hunted. Go all the way until she is taught and tied up on the beach. At some point here, have Lev ask why a girl is after her. Then start the flashback in the hospital before Ellie is about to be operated. Then show her kill Joel. End on Ellie's horrified expression. Now cut to Ellie's playthrough. You find out it has been Ellie killing those close to Abby. End on the beach as usual. Hopefully the show does something more like this.
Okay, let's put this in context. You live in a Post apocalyptic world where the weak and and Empaths can't go no where. Where do you go where having faith is no better than a dream, you lie, you kill, you hunt because that's all the world comes to. But no, everything, everywhere comes falling down as everything you knew, the people you love disappears. A light, Ellie had Joel, Abby had her dad and once that light these people spent years having faith over, little faith is still better than no faith at all. Ellie killed Abby's friends, Abby killed the man who killed her father, it wasn't revenge, lust, because ultimately it all ends in, redemption. Like Arthur Morgan, your as bad as they come but as good as you're good, the only choice is to do that good, acceptance.
I honestly think Abby was the most feminine and prettiest girl in this game, Ellie went from epic to lame and predictable in this game in a matter of minutes. Abby also seemed to have humanity to some extent
I didn't have any sympathy for Abby. When Joel killed her Dad, it was instant, no pain no suffering. When she killed Joel, it was torture. She got what was coming to her for that moment of savagery.
So if I break into your house and “painlessly” murder your family it ok? I feel a lot of people miss the point of the game. The concept of infinite revenge…
Tldr at bottom. The thing here is that Abby didn't know if Joel did a swift stab to her Father. It could have been sloppy, he could have been bleeding to death, and she is just sad he died. If TLOU 1 was instead Abby getting revenge on Joel, and TLOU 2 was the story of Joel in TLOU 1, You would probably like Abby and hate Ellie. And in a fucked of world of zombies, no one is an angel, but that doesn't make them horrible people. Abby suffered the same depression Ellie did when their respective father figures die. Abby didn't know Ellie was the girl who witnessed Joel dead, and Abby didn't know anything about the journey Joel and Ellie went through. And the same can be said for Ellie going on a rampage in Seattle. She didn't know why Abby killed Joel, and unlike Abby, she is willing to kill Abby's friends to get her revenge. There is no Black and White here. One protagonist isn't the hero with the other being the villain. Both have done morally good things, and both have done morally terrible things. And it isn't limited to Abby. Jerry, Abby's dad, would not mind killing Ellie to save the world, and Joel would not mind killing half of the fireflies and Jerry to save Ellie. The problem with the argument of "Oh but X did good things, and X is a back person." is that it only applies to the player. The characters know very little about each other, only themselves. If they had the knowledge of the player, their actions would most likely change. I understand if you still hate Abby, or the Game, but I would like you to know why people like this game. This game is about hatred, and wants you mad. If you dislike this game, I'd say it did it's job. If you do like it, it probably still did it's job. Tldr: Abby didn't know about Joel or Ellie other than what Joel did, and she's not a bad person. The game is about hate, so I understand if you hate Abby or the game.
Oh yeah such a nice reason for her to not kill Joel n just get over the death of her dad..wow...what if u knew Abby n her story n Ellie n Joel were the 2 new characters introduced in TLOU2? Would u say the same thing?
Ok but let me ask you something, if you're loved one was murdered regardless of how they died. I know this is a game and joel was a fan favorite but realistically would you like joel if he killed someone you loved? I can understand abby.
Abby is not only an excellent character, but she’s done so fucking well when you really look away from the lenses of how attached we are to Ellie and Joel. Even in the short span we got to play as Abby, you can feel for her through her actions and her dialogue with other characters. Especially Lev and Yara, even Owen has good points on how Abby was so driven by revenge that she lost her relationship, her home, and lost the light she once had. It’s those small moments that make you see her more as a human and less of an antagonist to just hate.. It was a bold choice by Naughty Dog to have us play as the antagonist, it was even better with letting the game have the ending it did instead of giving that choice. The whole point of the game is to make you see that, you see it in Abby’s dreams where there is no violence and she sees her dad in the light with a smile rather than dead on the floor bloodied. It’s a small detail, but it shows how finding that purpose and drive in a world so fucked is what keeps us human and keeps us going, not revenge. I love this game for its messaging, and for the choices it did. Got too much hate for petty reasons.
It seems like a alot of people in these comments who played last of us started with last of us 2 first because there is no way you like Abby more than Joel and Ellie. Her story was so boring I almost quit the game.
I would've been fine with Joel's death, but Abby is just a worse human for having been so cruel in her perceived punishment. Joel may have had it coming, but that death was unforgivable. It doesn't help either that as Abby's friends die she doesn't show as much remorse as Ellie. If I saw my friends die because someone was looking for me I'd feel the worst guilt. To me it seems that she only cares for herself.
They literally live in a wolrd full of revenge, anger and every man for themselves, I love Joel so much but he got what was coming to him of course abby would go after Joel he killed her dad, Ellie also killed multiple of abbys friends, the game isn't even about who's good and who's bad abby and Ellie are both just as bad as eachother it's about how far revenge can take you and how you can loose yourself in the idea of revenge
@@DeadX2 That's true but she was blinded by rage and the idea of revenge just like Ellie when Abby killer Joel, that's why they refer to it as a cycle of revenge
ND tried to get us emotionally invested in Abby's pain with one cutscene. Of course it didn't worked for most people. Meanwhile we spent a whole game getting invested in Joel and Ellie's relationship. Then again I don't see any other option. Althou the game itself is really long and I would have gladly changed some of Abby's gunplay to aventures with her dad. Heck, if I remember correctly, she doesn't mentions his dad ever again in the whole game. Still, loved the game!
the game forces players to play as a so much hated character. No branch line, no side ending, nothing but just a straight, stupid story about the main character dies right after some minutes of the game. If you give me a chance to do different endings like Detroit, i will cry for Abby but no, so we will still hate that character
This might be hard to believe if you haven't played the game yourself...but there's alot more to this game then just Joel's death y'know...read this comment section, quite a number of ppl who played the game in-full grew to like Abby, not because of what she does at the beginning, but all she does later...what she did to Joel was a horrible act of vengeance, no denying that; but atleast some players can acknowledge that one thing doesn't shap her entire character from there onwards. In alot of ways she's comparable to the other characters like Ellie and even Joel...in the sense that they're good people who believe they must (and sometimes have no choice) do bad things to survive.
Abby took Joel from her and chewed off her fingers so she couldn’t do anything with the last piece of what had been left of Joel. And joel killed Jerry sometimes he was Abby’s everything now Lev is Abby’s everything? Woooow sick game confused
i COULD CARELESS FOR ABBY BY ALL MEANS SHE COULD DIE . NOT SAD FOR HER FATHERS DEATH THO I FEEL BAD FOR LEV THATS A FACT. STORY 6/10 OR 5/10 GAMEPLAY 10/10 graphics 10/10
Technically, your CZcams *feed brought this up. Or you searched for it. AND clicked the video, AND took the time to make a comment. Sooo. I think you do care tbh lol.
ellie had a little remorse for what she did to all those people , also cares ab her friends and stuff... the girl was literally losing her self man but abby on the other side is just a bad written character, she only cares ab her reasons and doesnt feel no remorse whatsoever for anything she has done , she let everyone fucking die so she could get to her goals while not even feeling a little guilt . that just means ellie is so much more better written and abby is not idc argue with the wall
I literally bought the game and I was very excited to see the life of Joel and Ellie and see their relationship as father and daughter and how their relationship will be, but when they killed Joel I broke the game and literally threw it in the trash that's what I did
Let's get this straight, I really don't feel sorry for Abigail "Abby" Anderson, and it's not because she murdered Joel Miller, he wasn't innocent. The point I want to get to is the word INNOCENT. Abby and Lev, who was a true innocent, suffered greatly at the hands of the Rattlers, dehydration, starvation, torture and the worst, both suffered sexual violence, it is strongly implied that Abby and Lev suffered sexual violence given the macabre and hostile world that is The Last of Us. But it turns out that from the murder of her father, Dr Jerry Anderson to her murder of Joel, Abby has shown herself to be the epitome of a ruthless and ruthless soldier in the WLF, she has ended up focusing on her revenge at any cost against her father's killer, who carried out all the orders Isaac Dixon had given him, that included raiding, looting, murdering, and torturing. And that's the point. Her blind willfulness ended up causing Abby to torture and murder innocent people in the last four years, and not just Seraphites, but anyone who was an inconvenience to the army Abby obeys. Innocent blood will stain the soul of the murderer who killed him for the rest of his life. All of the actions that killed her friends and caused Abby to suffer hell at the hands of the Rattlers is nobody's fault but Abigail "Abby" Anderson herself. In the end, Mel's last sentence to Abby was what defined Yara and Lev's destiny.
am i missing something, or should they have asked Ellie and Joel if they wanted to go through with this? I mean there would be no tlou 2 if they had a conversation... Like Ellie was already willing... if she had a chance to say goodbye to Joel I'm pretty damn sure he woulda let it go...
Marlene's torso is way too short and her legs are way too long. I don't know why Americans are so obsessed with making women have longer legs than males have. Because realistically, a taller man will usually have longer legs than a shorter woman. Marlene's legs are longer than Abby's dads legs. It looks very off to me.
Black people tend to have longer limbs to torso ratio than other races do. Marlene is (at least partially) black which explains it. Not sure why this is such an issue for you lol.
In my recommended, there's another video titled as "Why Joel's death makes zero sense."
This is as huge of a division in a fanbase as Smash's Melee players sticking to the game when Brawl released.
In my opinion, i dont give a fuck about abby. Glad to have burned his (yes his, not her) father alive with my flame thrower. And his friend who called me "you fucking animal", ah so satisfying
Ikr...that's what I think too...
“Sometimes the hero in your story is villain in someone else’s story”
Wise words
That gave me chills, I love that
Exactly!
My girl spitting some facts right here
❤❤
That's why she would've killed Dina had it not been more Lev.
...
This is simply one example of how perspective affects the story, there's gotta be countless more but can't be assed to explain more now (chip in with more points of your own if you wish)
...
Her father sure had a good heart, helping that zebra.
Now answer this question, Did Joel get what he deserved at the beginning of the game?
I completely understand everyone's perspective and decision in this game, but it probably would've been a good idea for Jerry to sit down with Joel & Ellie and talk to them about what would happen first. But then again a lot of our favorite pieces of media wouldn't exist if characters made better decisions
I think Jerry believed so strongly in going through with it that he couldn’t let it be up to them anymore
I wish instead of Joel straight up killing Jerry he should talk things out with Jerry. Jerry might change his mind, and hearing Joel adopted Ellie. Because when Marlene told Jerry what if this was your daughter, he literally felt defeated and sad when he heard that. So I could see Jerry not doing surgery on Ellie if Joel just talked with Jerry instead of just plain out killing him
@@Batt-man it’s that kind of thing why I don’t feel sorry for him.
Love the scene too, bc it reminds me that right after that she is smashed by fat geralt. What a great man
Abby keeps reliving that fateful day finding her father, every moment she relives it, she gets more closure
I honestly love this character, in my opinion, she competes with Clementine from the walking dead in being the best character to ever be written in a videogame
Everything she does is for a good reason, and her character arch with finding a new meaning in life when she met Lev and his sister is one of the best i've ever seen
its 100% true.
The entire story :
*[Decision]*
>> Abby's father wouldn't be able to do the surgery if the person was Abby.
>> Joel can't sacrifice Ellie 'cause their bonding as strong as father-and-daughter.
They both choose rational things.
*[Arc]*
>> Abby : Bad person to good person
>> Ellie : Good person to bad person
Abby learn what is relationship stronger with Lev more than with Owen, so she realize that she also don't want Lev to die.
+ Abby realize her mistakes after killing Joel when Owen arguing about 'bad person'
Ellie went from sweetheart that everybody likes but still immature, she cannot accept the truth that Joel save her life because He love her as daughter.
+ But again and also, Ellie realize her mistakes when she's about to drowned Abby alive, because Joel didn't want her to 'revenge'.
Ps. Abby forgave Ellie and Ellie forgave Abby.
*[Things that different from them]*
>> Ellie have lost people that she love since she was young and had insecurities and anxiety of being showed up to new people everytime one's died. She desperate from loneliness so bad.
Meanwhile Abby got all the love even after her father was killed. But Abby not being grateful that she still has friends and community that she can feel save. All that time in her mind is always revenge, just because one people died.
*[The motive behind this revenge]*
>> both being blind but Abby is just so sad and anger in hope that Joel deserves what he's got
>> And Ellie lost her heart and had enough of experiencing so many people that she loved gone.
*[At the end]*
>> Both lose everything but Abby is luckier to have new home and new relationship ahead.

It's okay. I too enjoyed Abby's half of the story more than Ellie's.
When you hate the villain blindly, now you can see the true meaning of them. Sort of.
Blindly?
I actually really glad Ellie let Abby go at the end. Abby didn’t deserve what happened to her.
Abby should have died. period
F*ck her. And her dad. And everywith that stands for her existence
I honestly wish they would have asked Ellie. Or if they had put her under, wait for her to come to so that they can ask her. Ellie probably would have in a heartbeat and Joel, while heartbroken, wouldn’t have done what he did
Exactly. Not giving her a say was the worst thing they could've done. Joel was never going to let that stand.
Abbey didn't deserve what happened to her neither did her dad. There's just two sides to every blade
yes she did
we know there’s 2 sides, somebody had to do wrong for there to be a conflict. whether it’s both of them or one that’s for you to decide.

“The story explores the theme of 2 sides to every story so surely he couldn’t have done wrong and didn’t deserve to be killed in self defense!”

I think it would’ve been a lot different if they asked Ellie first and not push Joel over like that when they told him.
5:20 that gives me shivers knowing Joel was so capable of mass destruction like this, an entire building full of fireflies and he massacred most of them.
I was impressed by how great this game looked
Why does Abby’s dad look to be the same age as her and Owen?
To be honest, he might've just "aged well", he looks a lot like my own dad and he's 42. I'm more concerned or confused about Owen looking closer to his age than to Abby's lmao

23:36 that’s when you know their could Be another last of us part 3
I think if the dev kinda had bounced between the characters’ stories, the game would have been better though. But still the story is still intrigued me.
How would bouncing the story back and forth make it better?
I kind of agree but at the same time I think it would have exacerbated some people's frustration, with a constant pull to want to go back to Ellie.
This way, you're forced to spend that first day really bonding with Abby, so by day 2 you are really in the journey.
Otherwise, you'd probably just switch to Ellie and think can't wait to kill all these people again.
Love billy riggins from Friday night lights in the last of us part 2 😁
Abby might not be the *best* character, but she's definitely well-written for the most part and Laura Bailey smashed it out of the park with her. Big congrats to Laura for doing her best with the character :)
I just thought for the first time watching this; Ellie lost everyone, in the end she couldn’t play Joel’s song because her fingers were missing, and she even lost her mothers knife in the final fight 😢
That’s what makes Abby a villain like Namor.

Sometimes I wonder if she spared Ellie (after she found out she was the one that was immune) so they could still find a cure by using Ellie.
she realized that she would become a monster, thanks to the lev she was able to "go back to being human"
Also when she finally kills Joel you can see on her face that it didn’t give her mental clarity she thought it would, same for Ellie at the end
No good or bad in this world. Anyone who disagrees is immature. You can't do something and not expect a bad outcome.
I hope they pick the right actress to play Abby.

Jerry looks like young owen
In short, Abby Anderson is Mikasa Ackerman, right up until her tragic end.
I don't like Abby more than Joel and Ellie, but I like her. Her story is very interesting and compelling.
To me it seems that she only cares for herself.
sorry i don't speak wrong
19:11 is my favorite part.
I don't feel sorry for her dad because she take everything from ellie and dina
i felt nothing but happiness
They should've never tried the procedure without giving Ellie a choice. Joel was right to do what he did.
Joe T agreed.
Ellie nor Abby is an evil here
Their blinded by revenge
Maybe I would like her but what she did is just unforgivable
They literally live in a wolrd full of revenge, anger and every man for themselves, I love Joel so much but he got what was coming to him of course abby would go after Joel he killed her dad, Ellie also killed multiple of abbys friends, the game isn't even about who's good and who's bad abby and Ellie are both just as bad as eachother it's about how far revenge can take you and how you can loose yourself in the idea of revenge
@@multi.petals1388 tbf Joel didn't even know it was abbys father
When you lose someone, it's not normal for you to talk about them every day.
Me who hated joel:
He’s not a criminal. 😢
Mel knows Abby and Owner had sex. How?
the game forces players to play as a so much hated character.
Honestly, I don’t see why Ellie is a bad character. Laura Bailey does a good job voicing Abby that I don’t see why people hate her
Abby took Joel from her and chewed off her fingers so she couldn’t do anything with the last piece of what had been left of Joel. And joel killed Jerry sometimes he was Abby’s everything now Lev is Abby’s everything? Woooow sick game confused
Who hates abby
they both are wrong and also right.. such a perfect game

😢
Bro you think I'll be able to feel sorry for Abby
Big Show {HD}
Wow so heartbreaking…
Does anyone know how to get CZcams to stop moving my video if I open the text screen or anything else? It’s driving me fucking insane
owen looks like abby's dad.
Oh no.... Anyway
As Red once said in the angry birds movie:
*WHO CARES*
I laughed each second
Except for her dad, of course.
Abby
i COULD CARELESS FOR ABBY BY ALL MEANS SHE COULD DIE . NOT SAD FOR HER FATHERS DEATH THO I FEEL BAD FOR LEV THATS A FACT. STORY 6/10 OR 5/10
GAMEPLAY 10/10
graphics 10/10
English 3/10
But joel saved Abby’s life and she killed him at least let him alive after all that beating
Yeah Abby chewing Ellis’ fingere off is emotional
OH MY GOD WHO THE HELL CARES
He does
@@NinjaChief101 I don't
@@lukeharperistrash2914 Well your opinion doesn't matter in this situation.
Technically, your CZcams *feed brought this up. Or you searched for it. AND clicked the video, AND took the time to make a comment. Sooo.
I think you do care tbh lol.
@@VannywiththeFanny dude relax
16:40 RUSSMAN!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I don’t care about this girl
Same lol
reading the title made me laugh lmao
the most emotional and heartbreaking thing about abby was being forced to play as her for 10 hours
ellie had a little remorse for what she did to all those people , also cares ab her friends and stuff... the girl was literally losing her self man but abby on the other side is just a bad written character, she only cares ab her reasons and doesnt feel no remorse whatsoever for anything she has done , she let everyone fucking die so she could get to her goals while not even feeling a little guilt . that just means ellie is so much more better written and abby is not idc argue with the wall
Abby's entire story is built on her guilt. What in the world are you talking about?
I DONT WANNA LIKE HER
Marlene's torso is way too short and her legs are way too long.
LMAO
