I forgot to mention it but she also kept doing these weird groans at moments, but overall she was a really good commentator, better than Rogan and Bisping, just gonna take a while getting used to a females hyped voice in major UFC moments.

I feel like she didn't get the memo to defend the "star" with her life because they assumed Izzy would destroy Strickland and she could call it normally. DC is gonna say "It could be 3-1 either way going into the 5th" and she responds "I don't know how anyone could see this going in Izzy's favor" then DC had to admit yea Izzy is losing. If not for her he would have played it up like Anik did with Jan "Let's just hope Izzy did enough in the first 3 rounds to get this decision." to justify a robbery split decision being called.

She has a great eye for the sport, there was several moments throughout the card she was able to predict what fighters were about to do a second or two before they even did it. Great research and studying of fighters.
She has more passion than the other commentators, I think we're almost at a time to replace everyone with some new people who will always give it their all

Laura gets a 10/10 for her commentary for the Volkov fight. Not only was she the only one on the mic who could name that Ezekiel choke, but she also recognized how unexpected it was and was appropriately hyped.
Also I thought her voice was good. I’m a chick so my vote is probably weighted less heavily in this context 🤷🏻♀️ I’m just glad I don’t have to tune out Bisping’s constant ramblings.

As long as Bisping is not around to treat Laura like a teenage girl, she's amazing. Bisping is/was her only problem. He'll cut her off, baby talk her and fake outrage her after she speaks. She has done a great job dealing with him and has surpassed him in commentary.
Surpassed Bisping? She flew past all of them, her knowledge is perhaps only rivaled by the autistic figure 8 dancer Dominik Cruz himself, she presents it well and try to keep a good dynamic rather than just blurting out her stuff like most of them.

Bisping is by far the most biased commentator ever. He picks one fighter and hypes him up during the walkout. Then proceeds to blatantly support that fighter and actively score close rounds in his favour. The guy's a disgrace.

@@jamesj3395 Yeah I agree, her and Cruz suffer from the same problem IMO, they really do their heavy research and actually do try and update their own resume and homework on certain young and upcoming fighters and really do study tape and are probably better than a Bisping.
But still she lacks the voice of a Anik, DC, or even Goldberg for me to be truly Invested or for It to be the same same Impactful during Iconic heated moments.

I didn't notice her screaming, I noticed the lack of Joe. As dumb and repetitive as Joe's takes often can be, I actually enjoy him flipping out at the exciting parts. I missed Joe when Strickland dropped Izzy. It's like admitting to liking Nickelback, but I miss the Joe + DC combo in the big moments. They do piss me off a lot during the fight though so I do get the other side.
So whats the deal, has Joe finished now or what?

She was good. Astute calling. She showed zero favouritism to any fighters. Yes, the aesthetics of her voice coming through the TV on a big card, were a tad sharper than I'm used to. But she nailed it. Did her job which is more than some of the guys can say. Big ups to Laura.

I'm actually completely ok with Sanko being a consistent commentator. She wasnt biased and called everything correctly. I would just make sure to have Anik with her always to shout for the big moments.

Great thoughts on her interview skills. I will have to rewatch the PPV myself because this was the first PPV I purchased but turned off the sound to listen to your commentary as I watched the fights. Commentators just need to talk about the fight happening in front of them rather than random conversations while they fight. Before and after fight go crazy but during fights just talk about what’s happening

Thank you for giving her props. Considering Dana once laughed and scoffed at women in the UFC period, a woman at the desk is a big deal. I could tell she was nervous in the beginning (understandable/rightfully so) but calmed down some over the night, which was nice. My only note was her feeling the need to fill every moment of silence with talking. Probably was just nerves. That will hopefully settle some. We don’t need a literal play by play of absolutely every single breath the fighters take. Here and there shutting up a bit will be nice.

However...I've seen this happen in smaller organizations and in boxing, and Guru is onto something here, it's a voice thing. Not sure what to do about it though. The positives outweigh the negatives.

She is knowledgeable not only about the fighters, and the state of the sport, she knows about what a fighter needs to do in the thement to advance a position. When she starts commiseratng with the guys about groin strikes, it's fantastic.

This video made me laugh so hard. I remember seeing Laura "manifest" "I will call a UFC fight", during a weigh in show about a year ago, and she meant it so hard, and she has arrived. I thought she did good a good job, but kudos to you for having the courage to state your preference. I know there is one MMA promotion that had a female ring announcer, and I thought it was massively cringe, so...I totally get it. LOL.

I think its more that people aren't used to it rather than it being a continuous problem. Once people have acclimated to a new person/new voice in the booth these gripes about her voice not belonging will blow over because she is overall a much better commentator than the other people you would have to listen to otherwise. Not a based take, she was an improvement in the commentary in almost every way and didn't suck the star's dick like everyone else on commentary does. This is 200 IQ by the guru though because everyone knows he just wants to anger the women so a big strong dommy mommy can sit on his face and be able push his wheelchair around.

As far as I am concerned you are my commentator guru from the last 4 ppvs, I always tone the ufc volume down just enough to hear the crowd and as far as commentary you are the one I am listening to OK!!
I think her impartiality and lack of close relations with certain fighters will be a refreshing twist to the commentary tendencies we’ve all grown accustomed to.
My issue with Sanko or any other female commentating is that at least for me, MMA is a man's sport, where we bro out and say dude things while watching, and that's how most of the guys commentate on the sport too. Having a female in the mix is like injecting a female Navy Seal into the team. Regardless of how capable she is, it just messes up the chemistry, imho

I kind of agree that hearing a woman yelling during KOs sounds kind of weird, but as long as she stays unbiased I have no real complaints. She seems more impartial than a lot of the ex-fighters (and rogan)

This was such a funny video, had me roaring. One thing she could do is just not talk during big moments, offer a better insight during the fight but leave the big hype moments for the men
She seemed super nervous and was saying a lot of unnecessary things she would use big words that mean whole lot of nothing. Imagine the pressure tho 1st woman ever still good job on her
There was a woman on the original ufc broadcast
She sounds a bit horny, erm excited during the bouts, but aside from that notable exception, her commentary is actually good. She understands the techniques being used, both standing and on the ground, and has clearly done her research on the fighters themselves, which is better than we can expect from other commentators. It might take some getting used to, but I think I'll enjoy her ringside reactions eventually.

She did a good job. Commentating is hard because you have to keep up with the action and describe what just happened before the next thing happens. I've tried to do commentary at home and found I just can't do it fast enough. I get too invested in watching what is going on. Add in knowing which moves and submissions the fighters are going for makes it very challenging. Kudos to anybody who does a good job at this.
The only thing that annoyed me about her is that every time someone gets hit in the balls she has to make some cliche or cringy joke about how she has no “authority” in this topic . Like come on babe we get it does it look like a nut shot or not .

She is only there because she is female. No man with as little MMA experience and as little commentary experience would probably never get that spot. Side note, she had an affair with James Krause for those who don't know.
Shes a great commentator would love to see her on more cards in the future
