I need to get a hold of you if possible? I'm in Titusville. I bought a Jon boat with an 88 Johnson 25hp outboard. Ran like a champ the first day on the water! I changed some old fuel lines and it hasn't ran right since. Revs up great in neutral, but put it in gear and bogs down bad! Got tired of messing with it so I bought a 76 Evinrude electricstart. Ran like a champ the first day! Then nothing. Everything on it was Jerry-rigged so I started replacing parts. Still not running. I'm an aircraft mechanic! I fix planes everyday, but I can't fix 2 outboard motors! I know you don't want everyone calling you, but maybe I could drop off one of these boat anchors and pay you to get it going? Thanks.
    Brett

Hey Brett. Ive got your number so you may want to go back and edit it out. Anyway I dont know when I would be available to work on them. I'm so far behind right now its crazy. I turned down a couple of other people too. I've been very lucky that I'm still working through all the corona crap thats going on and I cant get my own stuff done. If things slack up I'd be happy to give you a call. I think what your looking at with your motors is basic stuff, The bogging issue may be as simple as the high speed jet/orifice is clogged in the carb bowl. You can find the manuals here, boatinfo.no.. Pull that carb off and take it apart, soak it in STP TOTAL fuel system cleaner for a few days. Blow it out with carb cleaner and check the orifice in the bowl, you should be able to see light coming through a perfectly round hole # 19 in the schematic www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1988&hp=25&model=E25RCCA&manufacturer=Evinrude§ion=Carburetor . Let me know what happens. I wish I had more free time. Thanks

@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Had to get back to virginia for a few days for work. Figured I would recheck the spark and the top cylinder coil wire fell out of the coil! And that was the coil that had better spark! 🙄 I have 2 new coils on order. I'll take that carb apart and soak it. Thanks

Some of the tips are held on by a waxy glue type material and can be removed with heat. I have used a cigarette lighter before to remove them.

Hello again! I was hoping you could give me some advice. I recently picked up my first outboard to repair and after watching nearly all of your videos I knew exactly what to do:). Long story short, Ive got her running like brand new but I would like to paint it before I sell it. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction as far as what type paint to use to paint it. Was thinking rattle can engine enamel from the auto parts store but unsure. Thanks man and keep the videos coming. We love um!
