Fishing for Bull Trout in the Backcountry

- We went into the backcountry in search of bull trout and were shocked by the natural changes to the river due to the flood plain. Eventually we found the deep water and the fish just in the nick of time! A late season coho decided to grace our lines as well!

Hi Rosin, really good video and glad to see these bull trout being caught/released. Healthy-looking and good-sized fish. Kudos for you to brave this weather. Funny you say "jigging is like a hack". I used to say the same about fly-fishing, especially seeing many of the pinks caught on the Chilliwack on the fly. Thanks for sharing.
Haha hopefully I can experience the fly fishing as a hack for Pinks this summer :). I agree that these bullies were very pretty and healthy looking!

Stunning river and it was fun to see all the species in the net. You guys don't have a winter salmon run?
Nope! We have a small Winter Steelhead run but no strong salmon runs. Some systems like this one run a little later into January compared to others but end of February is quite late!

Isn't it just one of the most stunning areas to fish in? Can confirm that twitching jigs are a cheat code. Has every bull trout you've seen caught been on them?

Just wondering, when you lifted the rocks you found nymphs, but didn't mention using nymphs, but initually used eggs
Nope I didn't fish any nymphs, just wanted to check what was there. In fact, this system is relatively barren. Had to lift a lot of rocks just to find these guys!
