This entire album shocked the metal world with its ferocity when it came out. This album put Slayer on the map in a big way. Since you are a fan of rap, this album was produced by the legendary rap producer Rick Rubin. Many metal heads of that generation (myself included) consider the next album after this, "South of Heaven", to be their greatest work and one of the greatest of all time. Back to Reign in Blood, if you listen to the opening track "Angel of Death", imagine the look on our faces when we as teenagers heard this for the first time, lol. Back in those days, it was common to listen to entire albums since digital media wasn't as common. Please do some reactions off of South of Heaven; every song is first rate metal and legendary Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo puts on a clinic throughout.

New addition to the dictionary: Slayerface. Noun. The face one makes the first time one hears Slayer. See attached video.
So many emotions simultaneously expressed. Fascination/horror/confusion and others. The brain unlocking new levels of comprehension previously unknown, and unexpected, in a facial expression.

I'm one of the original metal heads frome the early 80s. Slayer sounded like no one. It took me until the early 90s to understand them. Seen Slayer a bunch of times and there was no turning back. They're music transitions are unlike any other band. Puts you in a hypnotic state of mind. For next weeks suggestions on new types of music. MORE SLAYER. Peace out be safe

I believe Slayer guitarist Kerry King recorded a few riffs and solos for the Beastie Boys.. No Sleep til Brooklyn.. If you play back that song, you'll definitely hear his style of guitar playing in it.
Edit, King was in the official Beastie Boys video, playing the solo in the second half.

Slayer is way more intense than most other thrash bands, like Metallica. They are in my top 5 of all time. If you want to check out some of their more groovy tracks, try South of Heaven, Postmortem, or Seasons in the Abyss. If you want your face blown off, try Angel of Death.

Slayer always had a lot of punk influence in their sound. Fast and relentless. Metallica had the classic galloping chug, Megadeth was technical brilliance, and Anthrax felt like they were having the most fun of the Big 4, like party thrash.

The reason I like to watch your reaction videos is because, at 47 years old, you remind me of me as a teenager. Your first words at the end of the song were "What the hell was that?" and that is probably exactly what I said back in 1990 (ish).

Think this is the most honest reaction vid I've ever watched. I've not laughed like that in a while. Bro, when we heard Slayer for the 1st time we ALL had the same reaction. Riff sounds familiar perhaps because it was used on an AO advert a couple of years back (madness to think that though). Also another of their riffs ('Angel of Death') was sampled by Public Enemy on 'She watch channel zero'. AND to add to the crossing over of genres Public Enemy re-recorded 'Bring the Noise' with another one of the 'Big 4' of thrash; Anthrax.
