We are pairing up with ALTITUDE POWER SPORTS on this one to see what we can do with this WRECK of an 850 Turbo
Fixable or not fixable? 🤔
Muskoka’s sled?
Definitely fixable can’t wait to see and enjoy the content how to see you back out on a sled yourself too tho
Awesome content! Is there video of his wreck??
Looking forward to following
Sorry for the wreck but was intriguing to watch the tear down, glad you’re safe.
Yup
Damn. Never saw the sled in person. Can’t believe how bad the damage is! People keep asking me if I’m fixing it Aha good luck!
Good luck is right
Super hurtin!
Seen this sled and immediately thought man that looks like freerider’s sled
I knew before I clicked on the vid that it was your sled
i was thinking in my head is that free rides sled
I'd be careful assuming that motor is still good. I bought a Pro RMK from the insurance auction that had less damage than this one that had taken a hit on the clutch side. It was hit hard enough to shear the left side a arms and suspension off, but didn't hit the chassis as hard as this one. The engine turned over fine and even started up and ran just fine, but it didn't last. Turns out the hit that transferred through the clutch bent the crank ever so slightly (not even enough to vibrate badly) and the engine shook itself to death after repair. No good Mr. George
Kool to see all you guys collaborating on saving what can be saved on this project. Hope to see its resurrection complete. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.
Dang glad to see your alive. One way or another Matt is glad to see this and you still walking. Good luck brotha!!
Wow. Absolute carnage. Love the content, never stop breaking things. Looking forward to the next Alpha fix.
wow, FOR REAL!!!!???? YES KNOW abt this sled story. U GUYS actually BROUGHT IT ! U GUYS ROCK
Project rebuild…both sled and bike. Glad all are safe and well. Great work gents
Glad to here he’s alive and doing well!
I would definitely check the crank run out on that thing before going any farther. Took all damage on left side, MAY have bent the crank and engine be junk also
He is lucky to be alive after that sudden stop....glad buddy is still intact and well enough to even talk about it.
Awesome vid Matt
"This bolt is good", heh. Pretty much sums it up well. That's some carnage for sure.
Im so glad the guy who test rode it is okay
It's like thinking you're going fix that little rotten corner in the back of the camper. Suddenly the whole place is gutted.
Holy crap you got ahold of MC sled 👍💪😳😎
Do you have a video link to the wreck of the snows machines. I don’t think I’ve seen this episode or when it was. ??
This should be a fun rebuild project to watch.
To rebuild this properly and to spec would be outrageously expensive. Pull parts and cut losses by the looks of things.
agreed 100%. Everything that was load bearing looks bent/cracked. I know with cars you can get specs and measurements to straighten a chassis, no idea if something like that exists for a sled.
Don't forget he gets parts at 50% off most likely if prices are at keystone.
A new tunnel and bulkhead cant be that much
Godspeed, looks like it might need basically everything including the chassis lol
Thank you
I hope y’all can get the chassis parts to fix this!
I’m gunna say you guys are going to rebuild it, being your already that deep into tearing it down to see all the damage, and really not going to be that outrageous to rebuild it, cause it looks some of the back end/ tunnel cracks and such can be welded, then the rest is bulkhead part, 2-3 A-arms ypipe and pipe, a bit of plastics ,a bumper and other odds and ends high side cost in parts $7500, low side price at dealer cost $4500 ish, so completely still fixable and worth fixing cause it’s still $15-17k sled fixed
In all fairness, the chassi seem pretty brittle?!
Interesting video!
Cool beans Brother 👍🏼❤️
Any video of the FULL SEND??
Check for crank runout
Where is the full story on the crash ? I saw Matts video, thought someone else was riding it. No gopro footage of it?
I saw the skis, loose track and thought FREERIDER lmao
That sucks i seen it on muskokas channel a couple weeks ago before and after they had the accident it looked good altitude got him another 9r though. Hats off to them guys. That was a build that Matt and Altitude were collaborating on and they took it for a test run and that happens. I hope gas can rebuild it.🤞🤞💪💪
Matt already had the 9R ordered last spring
He already had that 9R on order they didn’t get him that.
Is English your second language or did you miss most of elementary school English class?
Is this sled still muskolafreeriders sled
definitely Berta full sender certified lol
Yeah it's more time then cost considering you are not on shop labour hours.. still will add up though.
I remember the day we took that thing out of the crate...damn..lol
Somebody will be the proud new owner of a 40k salvage title sled
I don't know it's hard to say but bumpers need to crumple to reduce load of Impact. Such a strong bumper might of made it worse... Put more of a shock load through out chassis. Hard to say tho really
That sled looks totally repairable, biggest thing looks to be straightening the front of the tunnel and finding parts.
Where free riders link?
i think it would be better to part it out at this point then to bother fixing it.. unless you get lucky and can find a used chasis somewhere.. with the poor luck those motors have maybe it won't be too hard.. have to say that chasis looks pretty weak. sleds now days are 22k and probably in 10 years they will all be so worn out and loose they will fall apart
That doesn't look too bad to me. Bulk head isn't that expensive to replace and the tunnel can be straightened. I would fix it 😎
Hey if you guys plan to part it out let ne know I'm looking for some parts lol
Is the money shot
Do you think that front bumper caused some of the extra chassis damage that cascaded so far back into the sled?
Thats a good question
@@greatalaska6429 It looks like that beefy front bumper saved the entire front bulkhead and hood/plastics at the expense of what it's bolted to (the chassis). If that is the case, I would say that it wasn't a very equitable trade-off lol
check crank run out before dumping tons of money at it !!!
Would you guys be interested in selling the 850 motor and turbo
All i can think about is how much that would of hurt
Matt's first mod sled and he didn't even get to ride it because it was wrecked hard in testing.
Put the plastics on and new a arms and kiji 16k
As the ol saying goes. If you aren't crashing , your not going fast enough 🤙
Дерево стояло много лет, но вдруг решило перебежать дорогу)
Willing to buy it from you
I wish they would make a arms that broke off versus bending until it pulls on the bulkhead enough to brake it. If the a arm would have came off it would have deflected off the tree and been mostly ok
Nope nope nope. If you're dead set on building it, and not parting it out, you can buy FULL chassis' in a crate from Polaris. Tunnel and bulkhead all together. The Pro-ride ones used to cost around $5k. Pull everything that's straight, and start building...
Good luck...
My 2001 Mountain Max 700 would have cut that tree in half and drove away like nothing happened.
Break out the spool gun!!
“I know what’s wrong with it” aint got no frame in it
not sure how you guys do it there but i defiantly would have stripped my usable parts off it and let my insurance buy me a new sled. my dad wrote of his sled last year, i dropped it off at my dealer, had then appraise the damage and send it to my insurance company. they made the choice to write it off and before they picked it up i had them pull parts off it that i wanted.
that whole front end needs a rebuild, might as well just buy a new sled and buy back the rest for parts
Did the throttle stick?
That’s the claim, looks like he run out of talent to me
Stuck finger throttle huh?
Hope they build you something way sicker
Sold I'll take it lol
Will probably still go further than the alpha
When, "hey man, can we borrow ur machine?" goes terribly wrong.
Pull the motor and skid and cut your losses. In my experience trying to “straighten” any of the tunnel or other sheet metal is a lost cause, and I have the proper tools, it doesn’t appear you do. Nothing will ever line up again and with the ten thousand rivets and bolts to line up like they should it won’t happen. Even if you do happen to pry things into place and get it put back together, nothing will be properly aligned and will tear/wear itself apart again. ie drivers, jack shaft, belt drive, etc. Shafts that look “fairly straight” don’t work for long in this application 😂. Shocks (after a couple new shafts), motor, turbo, skid, track, tank (maybe), electronics and plastics are all that is worth salvaging. Best of luck, but it’s just not the right way, I’ve been here and tried it both ways. Not to mention all of the “glue” they use to hold these together. What a nightmare. Glad you didn’t get hurt, this could have been way worse. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
Should rename this sled project dodge ram
Filing some content on Free riders sled
The question is Why did the throttle stick?
what about the tether? im wondering why he didn't just take the dive and kill the machine. probably not wearing the tether imo. on my summit if the throttle is sticking, or iced up before i start the machine, once i start it up, it won't be able to go anywhere even if you give it gas. it just bogs down as a safety feature. polaris should take notes on that.
They were so excited to build it for him and 😢
On the upside, the sled has a nice fresh pine scent.
Just buy another one, it’s the pleasure of mountain snowmobiling…..$$$$$
If you hit the sled hard with your knuckle this sled gets a dent.
I wanted to see him rip this thing this year dam that thing is messed up
30 grand for a snowmobile? Damn
Dude your better off with a new chassis and start over
Seeing how it's totaled, send it to the Goonzquad boys and let them cobble it together.
Take motor out put it in blown up r side by side
Guy who run it into tree has to make owner whole again
So is it covered by warranty?!😂😭
Absolutely! Half of the problem is likely a recall of some sort 🤷🏼♂️
Didn’t know the factory had recalls for someone else’s mistake
🤔🧐
Man that’s a lot of work. I would have just let the insurance company total it out and take my loss
That’s a hard hit on the clutch side also. That might be damaged also
That is not completely destroyed. If so, I’ll take it.
Bet it broke from the finger throttle
Those Polaris’s are terrible for any type of impact. They just instantly break through cast aluminum bulkhead. Everything from the axis chassis to the matrix is just garbage. One thing I got to give cat is at least they’re aluminum riveted bulkheads don’t shatter like that they just bend because they’re not cast junk
how is that not an insurance write off?
the owner was not riding it
@@MrWookie1981 damn.
Probably was and then they bought it back from insurance company
Owner never even got to ride the sled…….
I'm sure the business has insurance that covers this type of incidents
Scrap that chassis
How are new sleds so expensive? I bought 2 new sleds in 99 and 01. Both were under 6,000$. That sleds' a mess!!
Because people will pay for it. As soon as people stop buying at these prices they will lower the price. Simple.
New sleds are hardly any different then they were in 01.
Well that was 20 years ago and todays 15-20k sled is light years beyond what was available in 00. there was nothign 25 years ago to compare to todays 155 high power turbo 850's or 900T 4 strokes. fair comparison to the 00 mountian sled would be a 144/146 600 class sled like an SKS which can be bought for 13k as todays 650 has the power of an 800 back then.
This is why novice riders need a novice 550f 😂
I watched the video when he did this.... it hurt
Where’s the video found?
have link ????
@@darrellcaruk8880 he wasn't riding it... the builder was breaking on it before he even took delivery and totaled it.
No video of the crash, sorry.
@@steve2ish Thanks. found the video with Matt talking all about it.
Awful, totaled. My son wrecked his sister's sled but not as bad as that one.
My question is, why was he riding a customers sled like that? Obviously he was hauling ass... Seems like a shit way to do business.
Poolaris turbo mod sled szn 🏔️❄️🏔️
Oh yeah! Nothing like lightweight parts for Carnage! Let's make them a little chintzy'er and you guys won't even be able to get them off the truck!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe you should buy it to replace your CAT.
