Necessary info. I suffer from the same condition and I feel like I am losing my mind once a month !
Same 😵💫😵💫😭
Glad to know I’m not alone!
How did you find out you have that?
10000% I'm somebody else...
Patricia’s guidance is so good. I will add getting your cortisol levels checked through saliva testing and getting that under control through lifestyle can be a game changer. Things I wish I had known sooner. Much love to you and know you’re not alone. This area of struggle is BEYOND ignored and gaslighted in the medical world
I have PMDD also. I've experienced everything from suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, OCD, and agoraphobia 2 weeks out of the month. It makes your body feel like a prison. Birth control made some of my symptoms worse. SSRIs made me feel sleepy all the time. I recently read about Taurine and women who've had positive results when drinking energy drinks, so I've started taking Taurine supplements. So far, so good.
Thank you, Nadya. Suicial and homicidal thoughts are so scary. I really was worried that I may hurt someone and that's when I got help and diagnosed.
I used to live liiiiiiive on 5-Hour energy that 100% made me super stinky took me a while to narrow that down. Still looking for alternative. Green tea plummets my glucose.
Hi there Nadia! Have you continued your taurine supplements and how is that going? Have you found a good supplement routine for your PMDD? I am new to learning about this disorder and am wanting to treat it naturally as much as possible considering Birth Control and SSRIs is the only thing offered to help and I’m not wanting to go that route before trying naturally
@kerlyq7977 I've tried both birth control and SSRIs, neither worked for me. I still take supplements here and there, and went pescatarian. I don't know if these were responsible for my improvements, but I am doing a lot better than I was a few years ago. I still experience symptoms from time to time, but it's a lot better.
@@nadyas1839have you tried ginkgo
Thank you for sharing. We DO NOT SPEAK ON WOMEN HEALTH ENOUGH. So many suffer with hormone imbalance, fibroids, pre-pre menopausal symptoms but nope where labeled as Crazy or just having ISSUES
Yes finally somebody who agrees pregnancy is a 9 month vacation from periods 👏🏾
I've been praaaaaying for my shedding phase (period) to come bc the past couple days have been low low low, it happens every month and it's insufferable bc I know I'm a positive sweet loving person but the week before my period is just "doomsday, everyone hates me, I hate everyone" time. thank you so much for this big sis info. it's hitting perfectly for me. 🌷🌸🌻
I got diagnosed with PMDD in mid 2019, and I went to a functional medicine doctor and she got me on a supplement plan that works for me. 5-HTP and Vitamin D3 have been life savers for my mental health! I was on the verge of losing my relationship, and my mind with PMDD. This is a subject that a lot of women suffer with in silence and they don't have to; thanks for bring light to PMDD and hormonal health!
Hi! Thanks for your commented. Im suffering the same, I wanted to ask do you take the supplements everyday or only for two weeks? thanks so much for answering. Trying to get help anywhere I can
@@Maria-jo8edmost likely everyday like we take our vitamins everyday
5 htp has literally saved my life. As soon as i start to feel moody and have negative thoughts i take it on a full stomach in the late afternoon and almost right away feel better. I simply need to take one pill for a day or two before my period and i feel much much better
Hello, please what is the name of the 5htp you take ? Do you happen to have a link pls?
I tried but felt super nauseated 😢
Me too!!! Thankfully my husband recommended it when I was telling him that I learned about low serotonin with PMDD! It's amazing and I get a couple days 'off' every month ....
Honestly just hearing someone else say they are suffering too is so comforting! Thank you so much! My anxiety gets so bad it’s insane, going to look into these
Same 🙏🏼
Patricia you saved me when you first talked about this syndrom. I didnt know before why i was so depressed and knowing makes a huge huge difference so thank u. I talked about it to all women i know and you can save someone's life !
This is such a necessary conversation that unfortunately does not get much airtime. I would recommend the Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden which looks at a range of period problems and suggests different holistic ways of treating them. Also thank you Patricia for speaking on iron!!! I recently found out I was very low and just a couple of weeks of supplementing has had a massive impact on my energy levels and mood. Best wishes to everyone dealing with these issues, because it is not an easy journey x
I have pmdd too. Taking a multivitamin, probiotics ( gut health is connected to mental) , Luvox ( antidepressant ) and medical cannabis has saved my life
interestingly, i started taking a calcium, magnesium and vitamin d supplement to help heal a broken ankle, and my PMS was much improved!
What type of magnesium do you use?
Deff going to listen to this! I’ve noticed I have had these symptoms more and more especially in my mid 30s. I probably was able to ignore them in my younger yrs but now they deff affect me.
I think before taking anything, have your blood work checked ladies. There could be actual levels off which could be causing mood levels to be off. Which can be helped with. Everyone who lives in the northern latitudes should be taking a vitamin D pill by the time they are 27-28. People of African/Indian origin should check iron and calcium, as our levels can be low. I would not take 5-HTP unless you're medically been advised as taking any of these can lead to toxicity if taken too much. Doc here. Just want people to be safe. I take magnesium myself in powder form for stressful days, it's pretty helpful. I mostly work on keeping my diet colourful to get proper nutrients as well. Just thought this information can help.
Thank you so much for the video! My periods are extremely long, heavy, and difficult and the week or so before my period, I feel like I'm insane and can't control myself so it helps a lot to see that I'm not alone in this!
Me too. I feel so much better just reading the comments too.
I was dx about 6 years ago. My pmdd lasts 2 weeks. I notice a shift as soon as I ovulate. Like you, my pmdd has cost me thousands of dollars, and I am lucky to work for myself because like you, I'd have been fired. I'd tried everything. SSRIs, supps, this and that. I've finally found something that makes it more manageable while I wait for a full hysterectomy. Microdosing psyllocynin (legal in Canada), inositol, creatine... I'm half way through your video. Excited to see your suggestions ♥️
Patricia! Thank you so much for continuing to talk about PMDD. I don't think I'd ever heard about it before your video a few years ago and I the time I thought it was informative but recently after struggling with my mental health for a few years I'm watching all your PMDD content with new eyes. Now in my late 30's me periods have become more painful and leave me mentally out of sorts and depleted. I'm definitely going to figure out a supplement routine, thanks to this video.
SO happy you speak on such important topics like this, thank you for creating this content xxx
Once again using your platform to help:) I’ve brought this up to a few doctors and they didn’t want to properly screen for it but I know this is me. Read about PMDD YEARS ago because I had to research on my own these overwhelming symptoms. Thankyou for sharing 😊
So glad your talking about this as not many people do! Thank you x
Thank you Patricia! You don’t know how much this video means to me ❤
Oh wow I am currently being treated for PMDD by upping my citalopram during my PMDD period to double and then dropping once my period starts. I had no idea you had PMDD I’m so glad I came across this!
I can't even say how this video just helped me. I always did suffer from a pretty wild emotional rollercoaster during my cycle, but for the past half a year, it worsened to the point where my anxiety strengthened and suicidal thoughts occurred. It was all so sudden and "out of nowhere" that I was pretty shocked and worried about what was going on...because, quite honestly, I do have everything I wanted. Great partner, good work...nice place to live at...I felt safe most of the time and supported, but about 2 weeks before my period, it all went wrong in my head. I was also researching and found out it could be a hormonal imbalance! I will definitely try something out. I am so grateful that you openly talk about this women's stuff! You are my inspiration; it feels comforting to know that this problem is not only in my head
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Patricia. Giving us sister advices 👏👏👏
Thank you so so much for your video, I have been suffering with this for years now, I’ve seen a gynaecologist and my GP, I’ve still had no help at all. I thought the moods were just who I were and I was a horrible person but then as soon as my cycle finished I felt back to normal. Your video is so informative 🙏🏼❤️
My three favorite channels: Patricia Bright, Stock Brotha, & Niko Omilana. Make my week complete!
Hi Patricia - key thing about 5HTP is that it has to be delicately balance - too much or taking it with SSRI can lead to Serotonin Syndrome which can be fatal for some people in extreme cases. 5HTP usage can deplete other neurotransmitters as it competes for the same receptors in the brain. For anyone who is looking to take this - please do as much research as possible.
So true. I wish she could pin this comment so people see it. Thank you for your medical advice
Thank you for this information. I take an SSRI and I was going to buy this supplement. I’ll talk to my doc about this but I believe she will be saying no.
Thank you so much Patricia for this! You literally came at the right time with this information! Turning 30 has made my PMS harder!
Yes!!
I’m 35 it does get worse 😢 I’ve noticed.
Yes. I knew that I wasn’t crazy. It seems like it gets worse every year. 😂
I am SO glad you made another video about this. Your 1st one was the video that introduce me to pmdd when I was searching what the hell was going on with me.
Felt like I was watching myself describe even better what was going on...just like now. I again was looking for treatment..and here you are.
Funny you say having a normal job pmdd would of cost it. I confessed today if I worked for myself I feel pmdd would ruin it.
Think I am very willing to try these treatment. Hate being in the passages seat of my life at time.
Thank you SOO much for talking about this and the way you do xx
Thank you, Patricia. Your videos have helped me to identify what was happening to me. I finally, at 53, was recentlly diagnosed with PMDD. My periods have always been so heavy and painful that I never made the connection between how I feel before them. My life was terrible 2 weeks every month--mood swings and then horrible cramping. I have been put on medication and I am night and day better. Also, sorry to tell everyone but I started my period at 10 years old and I'm still going strong at 53! Yikes.
Started at 9. I always wondering if that meant I would menopause earlier. Thanks for that insight
what kind of medication if you dont mind?
You probably have endometriosis too
@@hashh2019 I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this. I was put on a combination of anti depressant and mood stabilizers at the smallest doses. They changed everything.
@@noellealdi881 thankfully I don't have endometriosis but I do have fibroids😥
I’m so glad I came across your video. I had so many questions before but it all makes sense now.
So glad you’re speaking about this. I think I have PMDD also but I need to get diagnosed.
Thank you for discussing this!! ❤️
I love that more woman are talking about pmdd.
I have not been able to see your videos in a long time. I am grateful for you sharing this info with us. ❤️ ❤️
I love these videos. They are so helpful! Thank you for sharing!
So helpful!! Thank you so much for discussing this issue!! ❤️🤗
This is super helpful! Thanks Pat x
Thank you for this! I learned about PMDD from you when you first spoke about it a while ago. I’ve created a routine and am still tweaking it, will definitely be trying these supplements 💚
This was by far the realest video on this topic that I've seen and had me cracking up which is a nice change from the rage person I've been lately :)
Such a needed video Patricia!! Menstrual health is so important and often women get given medication when supplements and a tailored diet could help too 💕 💕 I've just finished reading 'you can have a better period' by Le'Nise Brothers and 'in the flo' by Alisa Vitti are both great books to understanding your menstrual cycles more, would recommend them both xx
Just learned about PMDD today and wow… im just glad I’m not alone in this!
Thank you so much for this Patricia!!!! i just discovered i had this! i have always felt awful!!!
I’ve been diagnosed with PMDD a couple of years ago. Is HELL. I even had suicidal thoughts. It’s terrible.
Luckily I’m taking medication.
What do u take?
thank you so much for speaking on this ❤
It's the worst. I used to spend at least a week every month on the floor wanting to die. Then get my period and poof I'm fine!
I've been in treatment for many years now and much much better but it's still a journey.
Thanks for spreading awareness about the condition, it's so important🥰
I want to die during my period lol
Great video. Thanks so much for sharing. I loved the detail.
Thank you! This made me feel heard!
Thank u for posting this, I'm trying to find a more holistic option to help when I'm feeling low so this was very helpful
Absolutely agree, these are extremely important conversations that we need to be having!!
Thank you for your transparency in this
Great video🙏🏽 So many women, included me who suffers from pmdd!
I can relate to I literally all of the symptoms you mentioned... I don't function like normal for about two weeks... it's really hard on me work wise as well... thanks for sharing your experience and what you discovered helps you...I hope I can find my solution soon.
( I never comment on anything but this subject/topic is very close to home and I can't stay silent about this) My doctor doesn't believe I have this because my doctor doesn't believe PMDD a real condition my doctor thinks that this is just PMS he doesn't identify it as PMDD which is a whole nother beast. I told him that there is a difference! but he's in denial, he says that the NHS does not identify this is such and that is why they don't offer any real treatment for this condition despite it being debilitating to a lot of women every month. I am a mother of two young girls two under two and I have been struggling even more since having my children it has been extremely hard! I've had a lot of dark days/nights. Seen Patricia post a video about this brings tears to my eyes I've felt hopeless and alone. My husband doesn't fully understand neither do friends and family. I just want to be the best mom I can before my girls and it's hard when something like this takes over.
Bless u luv, I hope your doctor has recognised this mental health condition. I found diazepam from docs great for anxiety get that into your system before the 10 or 7 day mark, also Agnus castus drops, b6 is a must and just continue taking this each day ❤❤❤❤
thank you so much for this video 💕. PMDD is such a struggle. magnesium glycinate, DIM, and inositol are supplements that have improved my symptoms. avoiding processed sugar and alcohol also made a huge difference !!
How has DIM helped?
Love this
Thank you for this informative video 😊
Thank you for this info!❤
thank you so much for this video. I have PMDD and I wasn't sure what to do but I'm going to try some of these
This!!! Thanks for sharing. I can attest to all of this.
Thank you for sharing your supplement routine. Pmdd is no joke and any supplements that can help me as you said beautifully, "weather the storm" are welcome with me. Those two weeks can feel like more some times. I've found walking, baths, meditation to be very helpful. Also writing and allowing the thoughts and feelings to express themselves regardless if is hormonally related, because sometimes it's deepe a d the pmdd can drag everything out of the closet to be examined( blessing in that way) it's an opportunity for deeper self love for sure. I am so greatful to connect with other women(even if just through video) who have first hand experience on something that only one would fully get if they experience!!! I send love , light and peace to every woman experiencing this! Just hold on and be careful with your decision making during that time! The other side feels like heaven on earth when we get there each month!!! Thanks again! Be well love!!!
Loved this info share. Very helpful. Thank you Patricia
So glad i came across this. because girl im going thru it, since coming off the pill!
This video was super helpful . Thanks for sharing your story. I literally bought magnesium today from Holland & Barrett. Will definitely check out the other supplements. ♥️💊

Yasssss thank you so much for this video. I clicked so fast!!! Currently suffering with deep sadness during ovulation and I don’t get a break at all I am up and down until my period starts.
I am definitely going to try these supplements 🥰
Thank you for sharing all of this i wish more black women talked about the struggles that comes with having a period caus some people will just tell you that it's normal to suffer during that time
Thanks so much for this!
Thank you so much for this 🙏🏾🌸
Absolutely live this video ...young ladies need to know this... supplements are powerful and aids in hormonal balance! I also had issues that I didn’t recognize till in my early thirties ... but I had from way back but wasn’t in tune with my body...
I wasn’t taken seriously by doctors and sent from GP to pulmonologist to psychiatrist!!! Then my dermatologist told be to get the book FEMALE BRAIN GONE INSANE !!! Game changer! It helped me supplement correctly and my hormonal imbalance was corrected ... similar stuff to what you take Patricia! Get the book ladies if you feel like your going crazy, or not yourself or drained etc! Sorry for the long writing😊
Thank you for sharing! Love your videos ♥️ Could you link what you use or list them in description?
Hey Patricia. It’s great that you’ve made a video about this - we need to normalise talking about periods and the impact it can have on our lives. You mentioned progesterone at the beginning and I wondered how you got on with that? Did you take bioidentical progesterone? I started on progesterone lozenges just over a year ago and my PMDD seems to have greatly calmed down
Patricia, thank you so much for this video. It is immensely helpful. The “Jekyll and Hyde” comment is so true.
Thank you for this.. people just dont understand PMDD.. and I dont have kids.. I always assumed it was going to get better after kids.. but PMDD is sooo real and you just feel helpless.. when the dr first told me about it I was so relieved I was not crazy.. seriously smh
Thank you for this video Patricia such an important topic that needs more awareness and support🌸 Tehla x
This is a year old, but I'm 35 with 2 kids and can resonate with all of this, this is my situation entirely. Thank you for talking about it.

Great information ❤
I love your home it's giving me serotonin
Thank you Patricia for sharing. Fun fact, menopause, does not necessarily mean a total stop of a woman's period. And most women experience this so called benign cycle that as no pathologic behavior, like Ca. or other things. I didn't know that until here I am with a benign period every 2 or 3 months. The symptoms in me seem worse, hot flashes, and then the PMS. My gyno suggested OVT like Estroven, which I believe, stimulates and is a cause. I will definitely look into what you are saying and talk to my own Dr. and work out some things. Thanks
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you
Very informative, I just started taking iron D3 probiotics and a liquid multivitamins. I will add zinc and some more.
Wow thanks for your videos
Note: if you suffer from PMDD, menopause could be a bear. However, I think Patricia’s advice can be applied then to help get through. This advice is beyond solid. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is gonna sound weird but I think I had PMDD all last year up until April this year . Was prescribed fluoxetine but was too scared to take it :(
I got my covid vaccine and it messed up my cycle for a few months but the PMDD also left??? Soooo… dunno what happened there. I’m glad tbh because it was scary. Was ruining all my relationships my job everything! Was literally an emotional mental rollercoaster . I was terrified each time it’d come up to that time of the month.
It almost felt like bipolar but just a couple weeks before my period and then I was back to normal as soon as my period started.
I hope it doesn’t come back because I dunno what to do but this makes me feel happy that you’ve found something that can help for us ladies out there who may go through this 🥺
