I heard comment that Tocchet told Petey "no video games" at practice before the playoffs started. I know Petey is a gamer, but wondering how much of an issue it might be. He wouldn't be the first guy to squander opportunity getting addicted to something. I've played games competitively and anyone who has really gotten into it knows how it can rewire your brain and it becomes what you think about throughout the day, even when you dream at night! The fact is our brains are wired to create shortcuts and improve processing for things that we do the most day in and day out. It feels like he's been a step behind and slower to decide and react. It has to be something and it can't be something like a wrist or hip. It's the dude's brain one way or another.
and how many series are one game a piece? You dont see them have a fit over it Its part of the process. A sweep is very rare. We have lots of time to recover from a loss where the team actually dominated and got a few bad bounces. Look at the Oilers they were the world beating team that couldnt lose. guess what? They lost. Its not as easy as it seems and they have the worlds best player.
When your game is horrible skating compensated for by elite puck skill & IQ, you are vulnerable to massive slumps. If your shot isn't landing, and you can't fall back on skating, you have nothing to support your confidence. Pettersson's awful skating is a nasty achilles heel. These slumps will be normal. His game breaks down under the increased speed & checking of the playoffs & he's reduced to a spot-up shooter. He will start hitting the net, but that's all you'll get out of him. 11million for a stationary shooter.
Well, Mikheyev is an elite skater and he's been in a slump the entire season, so no, I'm not buying that skating is the absolute key. The reality is that Petey has always been a guy with big ups and downs. He puts a lot of pressure on himself and it overwhelms him at times. Remember, he's still young and consistency is a difficult thing to master. Hopefully it will come with time.
I really think they made a mistake trading Kuzy and not Mihkeyev.. I know this statement is redundant and not constructive but it's clear Kuz wasn't the main problem on L1 with EP40

Wake up call. Think they gonna learn from this. Keep the faith!!
more team defense in own zone the first period, transition offense sharp passing?
I really thought they seemed a split step behind and some passing was off, like the finesse was missing and hesitancy before shooting?
quicker on top of puck in defense zone?
Enjoying your Curse?

There is no one that is taking Mikhayev's contract.
Too many missed nets, powerplay can't score.
