Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
Same!
Have a happy and safe one too
Yeah man this thing is cool. 👍👍
Same for you too ❤️
Yeah you too thank you for always upload videos luv it ^^
This thing makes me cry when I think about my beloved Asus Padfone 2... I hope this concept comes back one day
Oh I still miss it a lot. ASUS got it right the first time out.
I think this might have to be part of my arsenal, thank you for this video! Trying to get myself ready for doing convention tables again and definitely could benefit my productivity. The fact that it is touch screen too is the cherry on top.
it is really weird for me that nobody has made a proper laptop chassy where you just slide in your phone to one side and essentially turn it into a laptop
Somebody tried it, but did not sell well.... Can't remember who.
The closest one to that idea is from asus if i remember it right.
Uperfect did has one
Been saying that for a long time. It looked like Nothing was going to do one, but it apparently got canned.
Cos phones comes in different shapes and sizes. Get the NexDock instead
They probably should take ques from ASUS's old Fonepad line and make the Gen2 have the connection points for the magnets.etc be in the back of the device (In a large/open cutout for maximum compatibility)
That would pretty awesome for sure
with that huge chin it should be not an issue
Or just have the magnets back in the middle where you wouldn't hold the device. You wouldn't able to lay it on a table but as a tablet would make more sense
It would be cool for sure but they will have to accommodate a range of different phone sizes/form factors. I suppose that could be overcome with some sort of grip but it may not be as tidy as the Asus Padfone.
Edit: Not to mention different usb c location
there's a surface pro style typecover coming for it, using the pogo pins on the bottom
Was tempted by this but I ended up getting a Uperfect X 14 inch for the same price. Bigger screen with a battery and keyboard makes it much better value.
Is uperfect better than nexdock ?
@@m2ljay He literally just explained why it's better than the Nexdock.
Hmm at that size I would just go with a 1080p. I wonder how the quality is. It's on sale on Amazon for $150. Though that one has no battery ... but it looks pretty nice.
Is the build quality actually nice ?
@@RinkawaErion the nexdock with the keyboard
I've not received it yet but being over £100 cheaper than an equivalent Nexdock it's worth trying it out first. Looking at feedback on Reddit the Nexdock can also have issues.
This is exciting. I strong believe in a future where our phone is our computer (for non techy people), and we get home and dock it to use as a desktop, dock it into a clamshell to be a laptop etc... Already they have all the computing power a large percent of the population needs.
We already have pc handhelds so gamers go that route. With egpus its possible.
@@shagstars yup, exactly. Things are really converging in that direction
The truth is that this monitor makes sense, I had not thought about having the desktop mode and also used as a secondary screen.
Honestly this is an amazing product. I just wish buying the Dock or the laptop was an easier experience since some of us are not in Europe or the US.
You showcase the most interesting things! Thanks!
The price being around $250 makes it a no for me . I'm going assume this is more meant for the size as I can get (well have) a bigger portable monitor for the same price.
You can get cheaper like $120
@@BEASTXGAMING19 Where have you seen that?
@@linuxization4205 Amazon bro
A portable monitor for 150, not the deck
@@hellsing56666 I have one for 250 dollars (1080p and I've been using it with my broken s9 for a good portable emulations build)
As for the deck you mean the Magnetic add on?
What is needed is an affordable phone docking station equivalent to a laptop docking station... preferably wireless.
I like it better with the phone in its own dock on the side. Keep the screen with a clean look. 👌 so many uses with this screen, great product
This is really interesting, since the wireless hdmi this is my favorite so far
Definitely probably gonna buy one of these
This would be amazing for DS and 3DS emulation :D
I have iOS, and I have so many apps I'll probably never switch to android. But then I see addons like this and get very, very tempted. I have a Macbook though so the extra screen idea sounds really neat!
I think it's only for Android phones
This looks great
I'm sold. Didn't want to have to buy a separate tablet and spend $1000, now I practically get one for $250 with the use of my phone. Bravo 👏
Ikr! It's a brilliant idea!
Hi ETA, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, also thank you 😊 for content, its always refreshing. Can you do a 4th of july best deals?
Great review!!
That's really a cool product, I keep getting the feeling that we will only have our phones and no desktops or laptops in the future. Playing Elder Scrolls 9 on our phones in VR baby!!
Great accessory for a portable monitor. Of course I have to get an external keyboard or mouse, but this is great for hooking up my phone and a console like Nintendo Switch or Valve Steam Deck.
The lwp on the moto looks sick 👍🏼
Great device, and yes you are right about the missed opportunity without including a battery in the device. Supposed was done for cost and postage requirements.
Cost? Like this was cheap!
It would be nice to see how this compares to other touch portable monitors and how cost effective it is. Looking to buy one of these but so far not decided.
Hi, did you find some comparison?
@@ramiboy_y2049 not yet
Very interesting
The bottom edge looks like it has pogo pin connectors, so an attachable keyboard in the future?
Neat. I've got a pretty old HTC Evo3d that I actually love...I don't use it as a phone anymore but it supports HDMI-out, has a 3d camera, gyroscope, etc., and would like to find a use for it. This could do that.
The smarter thing would have been to insert the phone behind the screen like a tape cassette. That way they could of increased the screen size a little bit more. Plus it would make the concept slicker all around. Just saying.
my opinion too. why making it bigger than it should. we could put an sbc behind making it a super tablet!
Oh yeah I'm going to get this.
A Screen Like this will be Good for showing friends our work from building a Gaming PC to an PI4 device that was 3D Printed using Windows 11 or SteamOS...
That's the whole thing about lapdocks in general as you can connect multiple device host without the need to have multiple monitors and keyboards.
Does the metal plate the phone sits on work like a giant heat dissipater? Would be interesting to see if it impacts temps.
I kinda hope they also make similar dual screen technology that LG used in their V50/V60, velvet and G8X. I really like LG's approach on dual screen, sadly they dont make phones anymore...
Are those pin connectors at the bottom? If so, perhaps Nex will roll out accessories such as a keyboard to connect to it?
I have been trying to shop for one of these touchscreens from other brands, but pricing is rather high. The preorder price for this looks pretty good. I just wonder about handwriting response on the display.
(One of those people who's ditched their laptop for a cellphone)
If someone demonstrated a way of setting it up as a art tablet where you draw directly on the screen I could see this being a must-have device over an ipad assuming also that the price is reasonable.
You'd be better off buying something like a Huion pen display. Those are quite affordable. But overall, an iPad is a good choice for a drawing device.
@@uncaringbear make sure he doesn't get too interested in the newer ipads because those are expensive
@@linuxization4205 Just a regular iPad is an excellent drawing experience and those are affordable. But yeah, anything above that is a lot pricier. A lower end Samsung Tab tablet is also a good choice.
This is what I need for traveling instead of having a laptop. I have been playing with the idea of a keyboard and mouse using Google Docs on the road only with the phone. Like the touchpad screen on this. If anyone else is doing this already, tell me the pros and cons, what works and what doesn't. I'm using a Moto-G Pure which is an amazing phone once you add memory to it.
i know it's not the focus of this channel, but somebody should make one of these but with an e-ink screen
amazing!
That's pretty cool
Saves you the cost of a separate tablet. I still have a smartphone and tablet - with this I wouldn't buy an additional tablet any more. No battery? Well, that's a bit of a downer but you can at least still connect a power bank. Maybe attaching a magnet to your power bank and then to the Nexpad would be a way to clean things up.
The lack of built-in battery on the NexPad is something I have to worry since it will draw power from the phone.
will this also work with nintendo ds or 3ds? So the mobile phone display as a touch screen for DS or 3DS games
im watching your vids while falling asleep lol
So its simply a portable monitor
Yes that is exactly what it is basically, you can find cheaper portable monitors for cheaper
With a magnetic base that can be used on a laptop. I don't see any portable monitor that has that.
@@farishanafiah8461 let me know when you get yours. Lmfao
@@tygur23 I'm going to pre-order it anyway. I can see multiple use of it.
@@farishanafiah8461 good for you
Do you have a surface pro? I'm curious if the magnetic stand connects to that device? Seems the marketing material is Mac centric.
That bundle usb-c cable is interesting, why with a dockcase logo on it...
Practicality wise, you can get a high end tablet for a couple hundred dollars more. The only reason I can think that you will need this is to expand the capabilities of your super highend gaming cellphone to take advantage of the raw power in a bigger screen.
I mean, it’s also a portable touchscreen for a laptop/desktop. Being able to plug in to most modern devices and get a display and touchscreen is nice. I agree though, price is still very close to a dedicated, standalone tablet anyhow.
The problem with the latter is the super highend phone battery will gone in a blink of an eye
Convergence is the word of the day. Why have multiple devices that can do one thing? A tablet might only be marginally more expensive now, but in a couple of years you'll have to upgrade 2 devices instead of one.
@@blubblub3786 Exactly. Why buy more computer when one computer is already good enough.
That "a couple hundred dollars more" reasoning is the reason why I like the NexPad. My $300 LG V50 is still plenty powerful in 2022 and that phone with the NexPad combined still cost less than a brand new 11" Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. Even if I go for a $400 LG V60, it's still cost less.
its so cool ^^
Thanks for video
I have a question , can use it with Microsoft surface 9 pro??
That is super cool. Could see people using this with a Raspberry Pi.
Are you going to do the Nexmonitor? I'm curious to see some actually get there hands on it
Could you use it as a screen for a retro pi? for like a some what portable game system?
Any updates on the R58X on the next videos with it?
Happy 4th of July
Any upcoming video review of the "new Amazon fire 7-2022" realese ETA!?
The screen should occupy the whole space, add a pocket on the back to dock the phone there without using a cable. Add a magnetic flap to protect the phone screen in the tablet mode. The flap can be opened and become a kickstand in the desktop mode. I expect powerful speakers too.
The idea is, we don't have to buy and upgrade our phones and tablets, we can buy/upgrade just our phones. All apps and data can be managed conveniently without installing/removing apps and data on both devices. I would buy this device instead of a foldable phone. I can take just the phone with me when I'm going outside, and then put it into the monitor when using at home.
I was planning on getting the fold 4. But this could also be a solution. Only if it had a built-in battery
Yeah, the lack of built-in battery can be a bummer, especially for someone like me who doesn't use power bank.
This could be very helpful for people on a budget
"for people on a budget" what are you talking about, you get a tablet or a laptop for same price...
@@peterericsson8328 Lol, a $250 tablet and laptop will only get you a crappy hardware. Plus, the NexPad can be used on other device hosts as well.
Happy 4th of July Prime! Hey where did you get the Motorola Edge X30?? The specs for the price sound really amazing and would love to get one!
Apple needs to add a Desktop mode that looks like the Mac Interface to their phones :D
This is very cool.
Apple should do something similar.
great device
How is the portrait on this thing? I have a superfecta but it won't let you rotate the image 90 degrees, only 180. The nexpad could be cool if the gyro can do both.
I have the NexPad. I use it with my Galaxy S22 Ultra, my Kids S10, and as a second screen for my digital camera, and my laptop when I'm traveling. I noticed that the bottom of the NexPad seems to have a connection that implies an attachable keyboard. - or other adaptations/docs. Any idea if there are any compatable accessories out there for this connection port?
So it's basically putting a bigger screen on a smaller screen device. It's is very useful but I hope they add a stylus pen in it
Looks cool but i already have the fold 3 so I'm good for now..
does it come with a travel case to protect the screen so when you're on the go or do I have to use a backpack? Also Can I use a powered mini USB hub with a built-in micro SD card slot to be plugged in the left side? Example, phone > powered by USB hub with built-in micro SD slot & plugged USB devices to the hub > USB c wall charger or portable USB c battery plug into the USB hub > nexpad
And could you test the one plus 9 T-Mobile version with developer options turned on forcing it to desktop mode.
What's with big the chin and no power? It's like we've got a Peter Griffin of tablets, funny but not necessary
Quick question? Has there been any word on when this device will start shipping?
I would like to do what you do with Nextpad, but with Oculus quest 2, do you know how it can be done? thanks bye
Any difference between this and other touchscreen portable monitors with USB-C? I didn't see any difference other than the giant bezels and magnet to hold the phone.
I could actually see myself using one, if it had an option for an anti-glare display.
I did this for a while with a portable touch screen monitor.
We meet again
Hello ETA PRIME!
I was wondering if there is a mini pc with the amd ryzen 7 6800u. Would be great if you make a video about that.
Cheers,
Elektrodemon
I mean, whats the advantage of buying this vs a larger 15.6" or 17.3" portable monitor? Just the magnetic stand?
I don't like large screen portable monitor, so 12" is good enough for me. That magnetic stand is also useful for laptop.
Can it support iOS device? Using usb to HDMI’s then maybe some other dongles to usbc?
thanks
Any word on when the Nexpad will start shipping?
I am curious if this will work with the Nintendo Switch....
I figured it would mount inside or something. Having it just sitting on the front looks terrible.
Ann I would love one of these how much does it cost and where can I buy one from also someone commented they paid the same Price for a bigger one with a battery can someone please let me know about different types and sizes and what it is called display and where I can purchase one from
Can you test it with a pixel with android 12L just to see the tablet experience there?
A portable monitor powered by your phone is a great idea
It already has been around since the 2011 Motorola Atrix 4G.
@@Likwidfox Exactly. Why buy more computer when one in your pocket is already enough. It'll be even better if the phone runs on Windows or Linux.
I would prefer the phone docked on the back like the Asus PadFone. That way, it's easier to add a keyboard accessory. Imagine Motorola Edge 30 plus a PadFone-like tablet and keyboard accessory in Ready For mode. All the laptop/tablet/phone most people will need.
Oh I miss that ASUS Padfone Docking Station so badly! ASUS really got it right the first time out. It's just a shame that smartphone power during those days are far from great.
when ever i click on a link from his videos leading to the product website its always hard to find the price right away, if they hide the price then it's more than likely over priced.
I am happy to see that nexdock is still making good looking products. I still have their second gen nexdock that is quite reliable when I need it.
Cool. Totally have no use for this thing but its till cool.
I can see good use it for my phone and my Steam Deck.
It's more useful for airplane or railways or other transportation multimedia service
It's a shame that so few phones have USB-C to HDMI output. This could be useful as a portable monitor but the lack of an internal battery is very limiting.
Agreeable. Maybe that is why the magnetic base can be used for laptops as well.
we would no longer buy laptops I guess..
@@Etienne85 You mean Chromebook laptops? I totally doubt if Android can completely replace Windows or Linux, but Android replacing Chromebook is totally feasible and doable.
@@farishanafiah8461 well for some people could do lots of what they do like browsing. Regarding linux you can manage to have full dist running behind android with desktop access. not as good as real for sure but can still manage to do stuff with it.. My dream would be running full linux natively on these powerfull arm devices.
where is your Steam Deck for testing with this?
Uncle prime review the rog flow z13 please
Does it support any kind of stylus?
Could add this to the mini pc with gpu dock give it a wireless keyboard & mouse.
There is a mini HDMI port, so you can definitely do it.
This might be good for a Switch portable monitor - USB C video out…
This is such a weird device. It doesn't really cater to any scenario I can think of. For traveling it's really maybe only suitable in a very limited scenario back at the hotel room where you are stuck in one place for a while, or as an alternative to a second monitor beside your PC, or if you simply don't have a PC but don't have enough needs for a laptop, but just need a marginally bigger screen.
It's not a tablet in the usual sense (like an iPad) as the cable and magnet set up doesn't really cater to laying in bed with it or using it on the go.
It's a nice companion as a small second display for other devices, but it's a bit of a weird form factor even for that.
Despite all that there's something really charming about this and I want it, even though I know I'd probably barely use it. It's just a bit too small, but a bit too clunky too.
Can u try it whit the steam Deck?
Will this work with the pi400?
In screen mirroring mode does the orientation follow the phone from portrait to landscape adn back again because, if it doesn't then it DOESN'T turn the phone into a damned tablet. It only makes the phone into a keyboardless laptop IF you have a phone with a "desktop" feature
Super cool but they couldn't of fashioned an actual holder for the phone? Like an insert of some sort. Idk, sometimes I think I should design products XD
Man, I totally miss the ASUS Padfone Docking Station solution. I so wish that anyone, including Nex Computers, can make a modern universal solution of it.
is it possible to use it with a raspberry ?
