MAN that soil is nice and black. So many other parts of the country it's that horribly un-rich light grey color in fields that never get a rest from corn and soybeans. I'm glad someone your age knows the "red skies" saying. :)
the soil looks very rich so wishes for all the best for the soy beans! how is your corn doing? in W. NY at July 04 it was about a foot Now it is 2-2.5 feet! we got some rain to spur on the growth. soy beans are at 8-10- inches, saw them in the one field of a dairy farmer we have met in the past. we take stones out of his plowed fields, for our home’s gardens. great job cutting up the weeds!

The disk did a nice job working that grass in.
Very nicely done supporting the quail (& dove & deer) populations.
We plant millet for brooms and forage, but the beauty is the next season crops grow like with fertilizer you can see it in size and color
