In terms of cushioning technology, the Nike Air More Uptempo uses Air Max cushioning technology like other basketball shoes with air max units such as the Air Max Uptempo. If you're standing still you cannot feel the air that much because of the PSI of the air max units. These air max units were designed to withstand great pressure from 6ft + basketball players so you could imagine the amount of weight they applied to the shoe per step. In terms of feeling the forefoot air max unit, it is quite hard to feel it due to its sheer size. Of course, the Nike Air More Uptempo will never feel the same as the OG due to the different manufacturing processes that Nike has decided to use for its Air technology. The real Air/Air Max fanatics will know that Nike used a different gas compound in their Air units back in the day up until 2005, in addition, Nike also produced all Air Max units with a middle seam that went throughout the whole unit. The thickness of the plastic used to encase air in Air and Air Max units was also thinner compared to Air/Air Max units today. This is why you probably can't feel the Air units that well.

H.E. Pennypacker Correct, sir. Nike and other brands are now making sure that the shoes now are obsolete in quality after a couple of months so that you have to buy more often. Hence more profit for them. Also, the knit materials are just marketing gimmick to get more profits with lower cost vs. genuine leather that was used before. Nike is bowing down to stockholders and not to customers.

It's probably been suggested: any of the Nike Shox basketball models? Nike Shox BB4. Or any of the Adidas TMac signatures.
It's because the vintage OG original 96 were open cell foam. The newer sneakers are now mostly made of closed cell foam to keep them from falling apart and crumbling fast. So all the older retros were much lighter cause open cell foam is a whole lot lighter than closed cell. Google that info my friends.
A player of Pippen’s size and strength is not feeling that bulk the same way though. Pipp was absolutely steamrolling in these. When I started buying Uptempos I was taken aback by how tough the shoe is. Definitely the kind of shoe to push the limits in. And that traction pattern has to be one of the all-time greats. Not surprised you don’t see players rocking them today but I still think they can hang if the right player has them.

Just purchased a pair of these today - literally only because of the white and purple colour. Am concerned they won't perform as well on the court. I normally wear Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Low which are amazing! Strong ankle/heel lock, light and good reaction and for speed. These Max Uptempo are now, I am thinking, are more vintage fasion shoes than actual basketball shoes. If I wear them tonight at the game, I cannot return them....hmm...

leather is overkill on this shoe. they were nubuck originally. a lot better material choice for this design. Pip actually didnt like the high ride of the Max Air so Nike made him a Zoom version

These are one my favorite shoes of all time aesthetically speaking. You guys are just really opinionated and biased. Just because you guys don’t like them doesn’t mean that no one else does. The Air Jordan 3s are one of my favorite shoes to ball in. Most people either like light and bouncy or bulky and a little bouncy with good court feel. I am the latter. The Air Jordan 3s are in the middle of those things but with a little less bounce.
