Miriam's exquisite presence aside, part of what makes the Graham Norton Show so successful is that it it has multiple guests on at the same time, so that they interact freely _with_ _each_ _other_ (not just with the host). No American talk shows do that anymore and I've never figured out why. (Do other UK talk shows do the same?) The benevolent _mixture_ of different people, especially when they're of varied backgrounds, personalities, and career trajectories, produces some insanely memorable moments. (MM's exchange with Will.i.am several years back was freaking priceless.)
Graham did a chat show years ago on C4 here in the UK where he did the same sort of thing with getting his guests to interact and since then most of the late night chat shows by other UK hosts have done the same thing. Most people in the UK think she's a National Treasure but I can't stand her. I just think she's a mad old cat lady. Sorry Britain, but that's how I feel.
A big thing that helps is he lets people speak. he let's them tell their stories and it's the other guests who add to the conversation

Something gives me the idea you won't be missed.
At this point Miriam swearing on a show or an event is never an accident.
In this incident I do believe that she really didn't think the mics were still on. She wouldn't be the first to be caught unawares. And sometimes I think it's done deliberately by the producers to up the ratings, as it has happened to quite a few celebs political interviews etc etc! She respects the BBC too much especially Radio 4 to upset their audience by airing her views about a person ( who she clearly disliked, not particularly as a person, but his political standing) on air. So I sympathise completely with her remorse and humiliation on that matter. She is by far too experienced and disciplined an actor to make that kind of Gaffe
