Hey guys, back with another Borderlands countdown and today I figured we could go over 10 of what I think are some of the best guns and weapons for Athena the Gladiator in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

For Athena everything is working like a charm if you have high Maelstorm stacks. And people say that Nisha is OP lol.

Yeah, thunderfire is insane on athena. One that I also like is the 3.ddie oz kit, since it plays well for soloing raid bosses.
7:50 Actually, there's two swords in the King Arthur Tale. There's the Sword in the Stone, that he pulls to prove his lineage, and then there's Excalibur that the nymph from the pool gives him.
Excalibur was not the sword in the stone.
Here's my top 3 pieces gear for Athena not including dlc
3. Badaboom or any max level valdof rocket launcher
The reason is Athena's elemental barrage skill which gives the player a chance not to consume ammo while the gun is under the effects of storm weaving.
2. A max level purple rarity b.0.m.ber oz kit
The reason why is because of my number one choice but also free gre.nades and tediore reloads
1. quasar
This is so good for all Athena builds
for asphis builds the quasar gathers enemies to one spot so throwing asphis in the middle of the group can cause the splash damage to hit all enemies then if you have wrath of the goddess skill it could cause splash damage to all or most enemies multiple times
For melee builds the quasar strips the shields away while gathering enemies then quickly spray them with the fridgeia then hack and slash them
And finally for maelstrom builds this should be self explanatory but for the new players out there..... MAELSTROM STACKS 4 DAYZ just one throw of the quasar can easily make 150-200 stacks of maelstrom possibly more if there was enough enemies pulled by the singularity effect you could max out on maelstrom stacks
Unusual weapons for Athena
Moon facer
2 types of damage, horizontal projectiles that can take out enemies that are grouped closely together and bonus If the enemies are frozen
Gwen's other head
Grouped enemies can be shot by the left projectile and having a shock or fire one is a huge bonus and when under effects of elemental barrage when aiming down sights grances the player 12 free shots with each burst
Tediore weapons
With elemental barrage you are able to keep the magazine size close to maximum but this is a double edged sword because tediore weapons requires you to shoot one bullet out of the magazine to reload it so for as long as the magazine is full you will not be able to do a tediore reload but it fun and cool to fire a tediore gun like a normal gun for a while.
Yes I know Jack can do some of things but better but it takes more skill and more luck/rng to do it with Athena and this video is about Athena

You can def ride the Vibra-Pulse with Athena for a LONG time. You probably don’t get a more effective shock weapon until the very end of the game.

Thunderfire is fucking bae, but if you're running a melee elemental Athena build you need to get your hands on Tannis' Laser of Enlightenment. It's a quest reward in Claptastic Voyage given by fish Tannis if you return the quest item to her. It has very high fire damage and an attack speed of ~10 similar to beam lasers, as well as an absolutely disgusting ignite chance of more than 60% at lvl 70. It's only "downside" is that it has the third shortest range of any beam laser in the game, about the effective range of a quad Jakobs shotgun, but this at the same time is not a downside because it behaves like a flamethrower, dealing damage in a fairly large cone instead of a straight narrow line. It's very easy to crit with, and since fire dot stacks you can get Maelstrom stacks at the rate of the Heart Breaker, further increasing it's incredible fire dot potential

Aside from not being able to get them anymore, the Company Man and the Bullpup should really be included considering you can easily get 30+ million DPS with them. Especially added onto the fact that you can get 100+ shots without reloading out of them with her skills.

my own personal favorites for athena that I've been trying out are a Shock Torrent (which meg refused to drop and it took 2 days of grinder to get the one I wanted) and the Quasar, specifically any version except rubberized.
If you want the heartbreaker try farming iwajira. He tends to drop many of moxxies unique weapons.. for some reason... And I've gotten it from him before.

I have #8 and it has 50 damage but like 250% increased damage on continuous bucket hits -

No love for the Party Line? It's such a great shotgun on Maelstrom-Athena and at least it's obtainable^^

You know what's fantastic for me? A maliwan shock blaster i currently have one @ level 49 and I'd say it's more effective than my level 50 thunderfire. Both excellent though.
I get that guns like the heartbreaker are amazing in the presequel but when it cant be obtained without something like gibbed there is no point including it part of the actual list. Since you seem to love it so damn much make it an honorable mention and stop wasting a spot on the list.
Highly recommend a beam laser. Gun-kata increases melee damage for about 6 seconds after shooting an enemy with your gun, which is very easy to do with beams. Cryo is great since melee damage gets buffed against frozen targets.
The Acrobat Oz Kit is great on melee Athena. Blood Rush makes landing melee on airborne targets so easy. And movement speed bonus is clutch if you’re blood rush is on cooldown after missing an attack. Without it, retreating enemies are surprisingly elusive. And once you’re used to having great air control, it’s hard to go back. Same with movement speed. Cryo again to slam attack freeze.
Singularity grenades to group up enemies for bleeding multiple enemies and boost Fury of the Arena, or in proximity of bleed explosion skill. The Bonus Package is also excellent to toss out and move in close with Aspis raised, and power up the Aspis FAST!!!
I love yah Puma, but stop including the Heartbreaker in TPS countdowns. Its in the files, not the game so stop including it

Also the quasar on elemental Athena is insane, espescially if you can hold multiple grenades.

Thunderfire is definitely the best weapon for Athena. Only downside is you go through ammo fast unless you keep swapping weapons to keep Elemental Barrage active, which can effectively give you unlimited ammo for 9 seconds.
as interesting idea the avalanch should also work due to being a roid spike nova shield that can help with keeping the maelstrom stacks
durring my first playthrough I was using vibro-pulse when I was fighting with raid guardian, despite having low damage compared to rest of my guns it was great for gaining mealstrom stacks
The fire & shock company man shotgun is the best for athena. It just melts everything

mostly everybody says Nisha and Jack Doppelganger are op, yeah i dont think so. Athena is a boss when it comes to killing Bosses even in UVHM. With the combination of Maelstrom and her shield protecting from all damage up front, and me personally specting melee Athena. She's a force to be reckon with.
I dont have all of her elemental tree cap, i only stop it in 4th teir. The rest i have it on her Melee tree with cap on and her last tree with the shield bouncing from enemy to enemy. Plus i combo shock weapons with Cryo weapons, fire and crossive dont really cut it for me not even explosive weapons either.

The cat o' nine tales is named after a whip. Ninetales is a fox pokemon with 9 tales; hence the name. It wasn't very imaginative on their part for naming it that and, honestly, Ninetales is more novelty that practical.
DarkPegasus87 no ninetales is based off the Japanese yokai kitsune or the ninetails fox which tails from sonic is also based off of they grow 1 extra tail very thousand years u our the second person m I've seen with a comment without any knowledge of this yet knowledge of the refrences in pop culture
1) Proofreading. It's a beautiful thing.
2) That doesn't change the fact that the gun is not named for Ninetales.
3) There is LOTS of mythology from every culture surrounding the globe. One person would have to be obsessed with it to know it all. For instance, did you know that Sherrilyn Kenyon's Daimon from her Dark Hunter series is based off a monster from Native American mythology, I think it was, that survives by devouring souls and dies when you shatter its heart? One person would be very hard pressed to know it all about every cultural mythology. It is virtually impossible to be fully knowledgeable on that subject. If it is possible, it would be just barely so.

What about ZX-1? That also works with Athena's Maelstom stacks. You can get +500 stacks with this weapon easily.

anyway you could make a top 5 or 10 gear for specifically MELEE athena now that the probe and shooting star are long since nerfed? Im new to TPS and im playing melee athena and could use some good reccomendations for gear that will give me survivability and damage. im trying to do more of a tanking run in with a shield and blood rush everyone kind of aggresive playstyle.

What if you didn't do the elemental build. I chose pretty much tank, but I still get foddered by people with electricity. Any tips? I'm under level 20 I think I'm at least 15 or 14 at the moment.
OkaruTheFierce I think you can't really say you're playing a certain build until at least level 30+. There's no special recommendations for a non-maelstrom build. It tends to just be not as effective. Spec for either maelstrom, or for melee
