  • Upon a slingshot maneuver to allow CASE and Amelia Brand to arrive on Edmunds, Cooper and TARS detached themselves from the Endurance and fell into the black hole Gargantua. Gargantua is a very massive, rapidly spinning black hole. It is orbited by the planets Miller and Mann, as well as an unnamed neutron star. A main sequence star Pantagruel was located within a year's flight of Gargantua along with the habitable planet Edmunds.

      @@randomized6969In a supermassive black hole as Gargantua or Sagittarius A* in the case of the Milky Way, you would cross the event horizon without being spaghettified. It would take plenty of time for you to rich the singularity and then get stretched out and die in the cad of supermassive black holes. So it would be a long journey once you cross the event horizon to die :)

    I love this scene nothing but one simple little word from Amelia "Don't" show us just how selfish people can be when they are facing the possibility of being alone for the rest of their lives. Her emotions were on point in that scene.

    I just absolutely love the shots at 0:50 and 1:00. I feel like nothing from any movie or show up to this point has ever authentically captured the true feeling of scale and speed that interplanetary travel is. Just the fact that in those shots they are only coasting too is just 🤯

    Some people are saying that the Newton's Third Law in this scene is inaccurate, but it isn't. Newton's Third Law: Every action has a reaction. This goes well with the logic of space. If you were in 0 gravity, you could throw an object like a book, as long as it was heavy enough, and be pushed back by that action, but you'd be leaving that book behind, so, in that regard, the Newton's Third Law in this scene is actually pretty accurate.

    Love this movie but it might have taken decades or centuries to sling shot around Gargantua, let alone just getting there. They traveled to it and around it, like it was the size of Earth. Supermassive black holes can be the size of our solar system or larger. It takes Saturn 30 years to orbit the sun. Still a fantastic movie but ridiculously exaggerated.

    Can someone explain why it's easier to go against the spin? Wouldn't they want to "ride" with the spin to swing with gravity?

    • @ThatOneChair
      @ThatOneChair Před rokem +1

      as you can see aat the start they were "orbiting" gargantua,falling towards it with the speed of 3000 kilometers a second
      when case said maximum velocity achieved they were drifting in gargantua's orbit with the speed of roughly 100.000 kilometers per second with no engines ignited,which is why cooper called this escape plan "the powered slingshot"
      when they ignited the engines of lander 1 and ranger they're escaping gargantua's gravity well
      drifting upward instead of going around it,and remember when i said falling towards gargantua with the speed of 3000 kilometers? yea thats why they didnt swing around the black hole

    • @drummer2443

      On my mac it works very well. Might simply be because yours is a bit old. To your defence mine has the new M3 Max chip, so I would be worried if it lagged. The screen on this is also AMAZING! And the upscaling is gorgeous! I suppose you started from the 4K BlueRay version.
      Btw it might also not necessarily be your mac, it might also be your connection, as 8k is really, REALLY heavy.
