I saw this at a german film festival in 1988 or 1989 in Goettingen. I had noticed Peter Capaldi in Local Hero before. This is a very charming "small" movie in my opinion.
It was DW for me as well, though I'd actually seen him in a couple of things before that and forgotten. Now though, I'm MASSIVELY binging his work! Just finished Fortysomething the other day, LOVED him as Pilfrey!!
Low budget comedy (1987) Dillon is an accounts manager in a Lambeth office. The grandmother is supported by her grandson. Who looked after him after his parents died in a traffic accident. Despite Dillon's impending promotion, his gran has other ideas, when her former love interest, returns to London after forty years in Australia. Dillon's predictable lifestyle, is rocked ('Pink Frogs: His parents 60's cult rock group) when he meets his sassy new neighbour, who entices him with psychedelic "shrooms". Actor/alternative comedian provides 'the voices' in Dillon's mind.
Totally depressing example of how not to live your lives by wa😁sting them like 'Dylan, Elvis and Cliff' were; and I've been there believe me, but I wish now that the health damage is done that I hadn't. I'm reminded of the Pulp song: 'Common People.' No wonder the UK's in the mess it's in today if it can squander young lives away like this.😁😁😁

I think this is my most favorite character of all Peter Capaldi's roles I've seen thus far. He is so wonderful!
