    Awesome collection! Im a big fan of the national pattern, one of my favourite non-tassies. Never owned one or even seen one in the wild but they seem to hit all the marks for a great allrounder bushman's axe. Longer edge for limbing and bucking, high centreline for chip throwing and splitting, mid-height eye combined with the beard allows a good hand position for carving, and the heavier poll for trouble-free pounding. Better yet, its a pattern and weight distribution that seems to work well across all the sizes, and should run well on both curved and straight handles! Love it! Will find one one day😂 cheers for the vid👍👍🪓
    Edit: subbed!

      I appreciate the kind words Kurt! And you certainly articulated the features of the pattern very well. I think it's a spot on assessment as to why it's popular. Hopefully you get your hands on one eventually!

    Very cool. I just got my first plumb national in a trade. I'm excited to clean it up in the future.

    I really like the national pattern I always got my eye out for them but people want some crazy money for some reason

      You can find the scout hatchet sized ones fairly easily on the bay but all of the larger ones usually fetch crazy prices. I was insanely happy to have found those two hatchets local and got them for great price. I think the pattern became popular with guys who throw axes and a lot of bushcraft folks also.

    Nice collection. They definitely fetch quite the price online. Probably the reason I don't own one, otherwise they are a great looking pattern.

      Thanks Joey! They do seem seem to fetch more than they are worth in my opinion. A Dayton in a similar weight is a fraction of the cost. But with that said I still love the pattern! I was lucky enough to grab the ones I found online at decent prices otherwise it would have been hard to justify.

      @@Nsvens89 Wonder if that pattern was made and used in your area? To my knowledge its a west coast design?

    • @Nsvens89
      @Nsvens89  Před 6 měsíci

      It's possible. The area is very popular for camping and salmon fishing. The hatchets would make a great camp axe so my guess is that's what their main use was. It was only two that I found locally. The others I found deals on online.

Either way, love the flea market video, you’re upstate ny, right? Def want to retire up there…

      It's very funny timing as I just worked out a trade with another CZcams buddy last night and that axe is included in it. Otherwise I would have taken you up on the offer Mike! I've got a video planned to go live Sunday morning showing part of my collection so let me know if something else catches your eye. I'd love to see some pics of that plumb Connie! Shoot me an email nsvensen89@gmail.com or nsvensen89 on Instagram. That's correct I'm in Upstate NY. More specifically the greater Syracuse area. This flea market is about 45 min north of me in Pulaski/sandy creek area. It's a favorite of mine!
