Would Obie Trice have had more success if Eminem hadn't signed 50 Cent?
No.
I think so. Nothing crazy like the success 50 had, but i believe he would still been more successful than he was.
Na man Obie should've stepped his game up but he didn't cuz he ain't capable of that. If I had a shot like him I'd never blow it like that dawg
He still went platinum and a top 5 debut album, so that's not bad coming out the gate. Unfortunately, as everyone knows that grew up during that time, Get Rich was just a monster.
@@marcusjames9353 the debut was great but he's had a lot of help I suppose. I've heard some of Obie's later work n it's trash lol
Obie is one of the most underrated rappers of all time. Cheers was a non-skip album.
I used to play that album front to back on routine!
💯
2nd rounds on me was right beside it. He's in my top 5 with his lyrical skills.
"Obie Trice real name no gimmicks!"
@MillieMuncher360 people sleep on the second album. The production on that album was just as good as if not better than the first. My favorite joint is cry now and wake up is second.
Real name. No gimmicks
The Producers mark of our childhood 😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥❤️

@@davidmiles1020guess who's back, Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
That Cheers album by Obie is a certified classic!!! Absolutely no skips...
That album was fkn trash, cut it out 😂
Within a year the album was selling for a dollar.
@@youtubeaccount458😂😂😂😂😂They throw that classic word around too much now lol.
@@Ctyler428Way too fuckin much...goat too 💯😳

Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit era was crazy.
that was the dream team I felt veterans like nas, and other hated on that movement
On damn near every cover of XXL from 2003 to 2008
And Tupac was shot 9 times
man i remember it in REAL TIME. im from new orleans. cash money had it from like 99-2001, then sept 11, then cash money broke up, george bush went to war, at the same time comes the 50 cent era....shit was crazy bro
Lmao No Way Y’all Hyping That Up
Obie trice is criminally underrated
Honestly people say that about every rapper from this era 🤣
The single was trash but the rest was 🔥
@@Trash2000slisten to his first studio album cheers and tell me otherwise
50 arguably propelled obie to make more money, all the features and shows he got from 50 and Eminem is insane.
Exactly. Its like saying memphis bleek would have had more success if it wasnt for Kanye.
Like no, he would have had more success if he made better songs.
Well I meant through them. With Dre, Banks, Yayo, D12 etc..@@Tri_Beam
@@stupidrules1000basically - I hear what Obie's saying, but I do understand that everyone in that position would look for reasons other than themselves as to why something didn't work. It's not to take away from his talent or skillset, but the general public wouldn't pick him up in the same way, much like the rest of D12
Obie didn't take advantage of the opportunity.
@@stupidrules1000no he would have made and had more success if he stayed consistent... The problem is they just be falling off and they just stopped going hard all of a sudden....🤷
"The Setup" is an Obie classic.
Absolutely
His first 2 album front to back
Was bumping the shit out of that in the barracks at Tracen Petaluma Fall 2003
“Oh” with him and busta rhymes is a banger!!
I was waiting on someone to acknowledge that classic
Obie you have a place in the hip hop history.Your first album was dope AF
Most artist 1st album is dope AF
Saw Ob one time in Glasgow. He bought everyone in the audience a drink! CHEERS 🍻 👍
I saw Obie out in California years ago at the House of Blues at Disney.
One of the best shows I’ve been to.
I kept holding up my empty cup at the front of the stage and they kept filling it up with Courvoisier.
Good times.
Obie was garbage smh
@@stephenrankin1788 I wouldn’t say garbage.
However, I was referring to the alcohol when I say, “one of the best shows”.
I went there to see Bone Thugs when bizzy was back with them real good times
Cap 🧢 🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢 Cap
@@DeathFoRliFe60 What's cap?
50 definitely put the game on hold when he came out. Nobody did his numbers that year.
He jumped into the Forbes diddy jayz level it was crazyyyyyy
@@AA-ji2myyou remember that like yesterday it was crazy down here in Africa!!
People sleep on how much he had the game on lock. AND he made sure his crew ate
killed me when he said damn we gotta get shot out here.
Seriously especially since he did get shot in the head after that
Right lol
I was looking for this comment 😂😂😂😂😂
Get your ass outta here😂
“We gotta get shot out here!” Is crazy 😂😂😂😂. Like who is we?
Right⁉️😂😂😂😂😂😂
Obie hella underated, out of all of eminems surroundings in the shadow's he was the guy i wish they did more with.
exactly😂
50 had a run like I never seen i knew he was coming and I was a huge jay z fan
Jayzlol
It's nice to see such authenticity of the success of other rappers especially when they're on your label. Most other rappers would be jealous of 50. Big respect for OT for being happy for 50.
Cheers is all time album
50 cent is the best everyone have a great story about fif😎🤣😂💪💯💯💯
He's speaking truth! 50 killed everything! Obie is super underrated
Facts
@@ClassicRapShortsthe last rapper that i remember. I dont think anything happened in rap since, nether in english or french rap...nothing serious
Met Obie at a club in his hay day. Class act.
50 stay workin tho he grind harder than the average
50 had something no other artist before him ever had. He had a buzz in New York, beef with superstar artists, and survived a hit from a notorious gangster. He would've been a success regardless strictly off that alone. But then the BIGGEST artist in the rap game and Dre signed his ass and put all of their energy behind him for that first album. I think 75 percent of GRODT was songs 50 already had. Dre and Em get him the big name features and beats to cap it off along with funds for videos and there you have it. Greatest debut album of all time. 50 cent getting shot the greatest thing that ever happened to him. It's crazy lol
Preme tried to kill him for playing with his food and created a mogul. Life's so poetic sometimes
This is the case for a lot of rappers that were about to blow up or be on the come up in the early 2000s but 50 had such a huge gravitational pull in music that alot people couldn’t get enough eyes and ears on them 😂 50 shined too bright for anyone to notice other rappers, he was literally the definition of a true gangster rapper in those times and no one’s taken that title yet, because it’s either they a gangster and shit rapper or a fake gangster and a good rapper but never both.
I wish Em, 50, and Obie did a collab together like the old times
I wish they would of collaborated more and did entire gunit, shady, aftermath
It’s kinda messed up cuz Obie is nice with it too. I don’t know if he woulda been as big as fif but he def woulda gotten more light.
50 had a story tell. He was at war wit real kingpins. He had the movie look to go with the story.
Em had a story and while he had some shock value to make people peek, he also hooked u by holding a mirror up to himself and society. Plus he could go hard too.
Obie was amazing, and helped round out the shady team but nothing for people to personally attach to, other than he was dope. Simply dope lyricists usually have a short run, and less pay like NFL RBs. They get used and tapped out.
Movie look?
And he didn't make great songs. He may have been a dope lyricist (arguable), but writing songs is a different skill. You could never listen to a 50 bar and still love his songs. I dont think you can say that about obie
@@stupidrules1000this is the real answer
Great analogy
He had some great verses
For me obies album cheers was a pure winner allday everyday
Cheers is a classic
everywhere i go was the shit back in the day.. i always like obie trice , i still play that song from time to time

Cheers turned 20 just a few weeks ago. Can we please get an anniversary repress of the album in some wild color way, like green to match the cover?
Don’t Come Down was always on repeat for me growing up. Love it.
This dude is one of the best lyricists to ever do it. So talented
Props Obie , love you music
Obie is official!! His bars/music was definitely ON POINT!! Though he's from Detroit, his music was East Coast certified!!
Obie was cold af
Obie trice real name no gimmick!
96-06 was the best decade in hiphop
We can look at it in different perspectives. We can also say that Get Rich or Die Tryin' made some people gravitate towards Shady Records. And Obie was a beneficiary of that impact. Nevertheless, Cheers was a massive album with the wrong hit single.
To go platinum with no hit singles is rare. The exposure had to help.
So true!! Obies albums came at the perfect time!! Love both albums!!
Obie is fukn dope
I jus love Obie even more after this 😂❤
“Damn we gotta get shot out here” 😂
