Guillermo del Toro is an unbelievable speaker. The thought and meaning he puts into his words blows my mind every time.
BRIDE is the Citizen Kane of horror films.
Academy looks down on horror as an art form and for that I pity them. The Bride Of Frankenstein is an emotional masterpiece & horror is a great way to look at humanity and the times we live in!
I love listening to him speak. One of my favorite videos is where he is talking about his favorite ghost films...
Books could be written about this exemplary film--including one on Jimmy Whale's use of cinemagraphic close-ups in the 1935 Bride of Frankenstein to take a single aspect of this silver-screen masterpiece which exemplifies the best of 'old Hollywood' effects-lighting. We all live in hope that extra footage will be found intact (e.g. for the much-longer prologue with Elsa Lanchester in the role of Mary Shelley etc.) as well as out-takes etc. Search the Universal Studios vaults, all ye who have direct access to all the raw material !!
I heard that Bill Condon will work on The Remake for The Dark Universe.
GDT has so much affection and respect for the unique brand of magic that Boris Karloff brought to his work, in this case as the Creature.
Everything that he said about the movie is exactly what I feel about it.
Living in the same town which is the birthplace of James Whale is absolutely fantastic :D
Del Toro, you are incredible!
great film of great poetry
This is beyond beautiful
Ironic the Academy honoring Karloff and the monsters when they never came close to honoring horror films as art

Karloff never won an Oscar. Nor did Lugosi. Nor did James Whale, who directed possibly the most iconic horror movie of all time. Not even honorary awards. Add these greats to the list of unrecognized giants of American cinema, & contrast them with with the mediocrities lavished with praise, & form yr own opinion abt the worth of this bauble.
PSYCHO is a masterpiece but more psychological thriller and made in 1960. PSYCHO is the Citizen Kane of the modern horror film. BRIDE is the Citizen Kane of the gothic monster movie. Both are equally great but in slightly different subgenres. Also, Hitchcock was a genius and made several masterpieces. Whale really never topped BRIDE ever again.

Wow! Guillermo del Toro es muy elocuente y no conoce la barrera del idioma....
I heard from a very close source that del Toro 's version of the monster Frankenstein will be a very feminist modernized one that will extrapolate a genius level monster mind into an over the top drag queen type (wardrobe and all😮) body with cannibalistic gay tendencies !.Cool concept 😂😂😂😂
first.
Beautiful, Helping, we're you here for Bride Of Frankenstein or because of Guillermo Del Toro? Honestly. Thank you.
