Here we go folks. I never thought I'd do this but hey, I did it. I'm gonna go through Star Fox from beginning to end... all 3 levels that is. Here's Level 1 Stage 1 - Corneria.
The way the beat drops when you’re exiting the base, followed by your squad mates’ banter and breakaway is so badass. It just screams “Don’t worry, we’re here to kick some ass.”
Genesis owners in 1993: 'Meh, it's not that good, I don't see what all the fuss is about...' SNES owners in 1993: 'Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my MIND BEING BLOWN!'
Genesis fanboys always claim that the SNES is "kiddy" and "not cool", but what on Earth do you call a game like "Star Fox", then? That game is coolness in video game form, and the same thing can also be said about "F-Zero" and "Super Metroid", among a whole bunch of other games as well ("R-Type 3: The Third Lightning", "Wild Guns" etc).
@Kevin C Genesis can’t do what Super Nintendo can. The SNES was significantly more powerful than the Mega Drive/Genesis, especially when you factor in the Super FX chip.
This was the best part of Star Fox ever. The music, the atmosphere, the Badababdbab, all made this badass Top Gun vibe that we never really got ever again in any of the follow up games.
Fun little fact, if you slow down to about 0.5 speed when the Arwings launch, the sound clips of the team talking is actually broken up and mixed version of the "Wing Damaged" sound bite.
this game does something in me. the games intro and songs are so hyped. and when you encounter the boss resulting in the fanfare and highscore screen ending in a boost into space is some of the most satisfying feeling a video game has ever given me. and i have played nearly every "good" game in the last 33 years. outstanding game
Oh man. I remember playing the game for the first time ever.... And i remember laughing at Fox and Co. and their silly speech... And i shit you not. The game froze, the cartridge LEPT from the SNES and slapped me across the face, yelling "SHUT UP AND PLAY BITCH!" then flung itself back into the console and the game resumed... And it kicked ass...
The greatest start to any game ever made, and i mean the moment u turn the console on till the end of the first level! shame the game itself isnt that good
I remember seeing this for the first time at my local Sears back in '93 on one of those demo stations. My tiny mind was BLOWN AWAY by these graphics and I still get chills everytime I hear this song ❤
I took the game too seriously with the music I literally thought I was in the game so I would say "YAAAAAHOOOOOOO TAKE THAT WE'RE HIT IM NOT GOING DOWN WITH OUT A FIGHT AAAAAAAAAAAAA IM DOWN BRING IT YAAAAAAAHOOOOOO OH BRING IT LETS GOOOOOOO WE ARE CLEAR OOOOOOOOOOOO SNAPS AAAAAAAAAAA COME AT ME!!!!!!" Crazy right?
Ok so what do they say in the intercom before launch? I can only understand "Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry .... prepare for launch. What do they say in the middle???
15 years before this video i was on my snes on starfox, aged 6. 15 years after this video, 36 years still counting, still this particuliar song in my ears.
this game and Virtua Fighter in the arcade were the first mainstream 3D games, I can remember playing for the first time and it took me a little while to get used to. Today we take 3D games for granted but up until this point everything was side scrolling or top down
I really don't care: this sequence, true to form should never be dropped by _any_ future Starfox game, period. They all need this Corneria scene, this directing and how this level plays out.
I think its also cool that this game had a decent amount of voice work. Not a lot of games had actual speeking back then. This game was ahead of its time. I love Starfox...
The nostalgia from watching this is giving me the warm fuzzies. This game was on point back then. Hell, if I could get my hands on it, I'd play it again right now. The graphics sucked even then, but the game was so awesome you can overlook it.
Sony fanboys always seem to think that the PlayStation was the first successful 3D capable console. It’s not as glamorous as PlayStation graphics, but the Super Nintendo has them beat.
I can remember paying £100 to get this on Japanese import before it came out in the UK! I thought the animals were speaking Japanese and couldn't wait to get the English version.
Never in my life have I decided to look at how Star Fox for the SNES worked or played. I don't know why. All I knew was the graphics were very basic. Looking back now the manipulation of the technology here is downright mindboggling in my opinion. I mean wow. Other SNES games were 2D 16-bit sprite based games. This is just insane. I was missing out for sure
Man The best when they exit the base. I was 10 when I first played this in a SNES demo at a BX. Kids were all amazed and I’m just like. Dad, I want an SNES. Please PLEAAAAASE!!!!
No, for it's time the graphics sucked, they were just 3D which made for really unique and innovative gameplay. Also the atmosphere and music was really great.
its true. we never saw anything like it at the time. we first played it on a 36 inch tube TV with like 15 kids from school in 93. a 36 incher was considered massive back then… we cranked the volume and were absolutely blown away
I'm searching for a snes game that I only have very vague memories of. From what I remember, you're in a square room, looking at it from above but not directly, there were doors on either three or four side where enemies would enter through and you had to shoot them. Pleeeease give me your ideas on what it could have been!
They also used the FX2 for Star Fox 2, which sadly was canceled before it was released. Luckily a ROM was leaked out to the internet before it got canned, and Aeon Genesis made a translation patch and final patch for it, and the game got it's popularity from the internet.
The way the beat drops when you’re exiting the base, followed by your squad mates’ banter and breakaway is so badass. It just screams “Don’t worry, we’re here to kick some ass.”
To bad that the music isn’t in its sequels.
That's a good way to put it.
Gives me chills.
That's the best part !!!
Doo daba da daba dap!
OOWOOG NOOB DABBA!
Dimdiwit dimdiwit!
Wep weep bwep, weep bwep wep!
Badababdbab. That never gets old
Liutenant Lama Lmao, that shit should be on every Ace Combat.
"wing bing wing damage"
Ha ha .. it also reminds me of RoboCop
Gluhgluhgluhgub!!
Double wing damage?
"Emergency, emergency! Emergency, emergency! Incoming enemy fighters, prepare for launch!" For those wondering.
Ty, I have been trying to figure out what the base said since the 90s lol
man when they fly out of the base and the music drops, it gets me every time
Sends chills up my spine
To bad it isn’t in the sequels
We shit our collective pants in 93. (8 Years old)
The beginning of this game where they launch and check in always gets me so pumped.
All ships check in!!
Genesis owners in 1993: 'Meh, it's not that good, I don't see what all the fuss is about...'
SNES owners in 1993: 'Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my MIND BEING BLOWN!'

MegaAshWilliams but these days realistically we both love the death out of them.
Donkey Kong was another game that was revolutionary. It’s almost as though the slogan for SNES should have been “Genesis Can; Nintendo Does.”
I mean, the SNES had a lot of great games while the Genesis has great games and one blue hedgehog. I really like Classic Sonic.
"It's about time you showed up Fox! You're the only hope for this world!"
"I'll do my best sir, Andross won't have his way with me!"
"GOOD LUCK"
Croak! Help me!!
@@blakeirvin3011 thanks Fox, I thought they had me
"Follow me, Fox!" "Falco, where ya goin'?!" "I found the target, try and keep up!"
One of the best games I have had the joy of playing, such a thrill to see these graphics at that age. Falco is so cool in this...
Yes i was amazed in the graphics. How 3d it was.
And this is why he preferred the air
"Ba ba bleb bleb"
Oh I'm sorry Falco I didn't realize you called dibs on that guy. You don't need to yell!
Fun little fact, if you slow down to about 0.5 speed when the Arwings launch, the sound clips of the team talking is actually broken up and mixed version of the "Wing Damaged" sound bite.
That's awesome! Man those guys were brilliant at saving space
And Twin Blasters too
holy schnikes... i cant unhear that now haha
Dude. That's awesome. Thanks!
When that radio coms starts after the bosses it's simply EPIC!
this game does something in me. the games intro and songs are so hyped. and when you encounter the boss resulting in the fanfare and highscore screen ending in a boost into space is some of the most satisfying feeling a video game has ever given me. and i have played nearly every "good" game in the last 33 years. outstanding game
Emergency! Emergency! Emergency! Incoming enemy fighters. Prepare for launch.
You're hurting me, you're hurting me...lol
Falco, you win me with your deep "Bap boopah de-bapoo"
I literally had that same random memory and laughing at falco from this game on the 1st staggeeeee
Please Nintendo-put this on your eshop! You'd make millions overnight!
James Robert truth
It's on the switch for free yoy just need the Online thing
"BA DEB DEB DEB DEB DEB DEB DEB"
XD
My god, I forgot how much the music in this level rocked. Thanks for the dose of nostalgia!
U still here?
@@jakobtheguess not 😂
31 year old me doing dishes, not having played this in 24 years: Bohh boh beee BOWWWHhh
"Greetings, Star Fox..
You have been chosen by General Pepper to defend Cornelia against Andross and the Space Armada. Are you ready?"

The greatest 1st level in gaming. No other game even comes close to Corneria. Would replay just this level so much.
1:38. The second it leaves the base, the guitar kicks in. The first time I've played this, I knew I was in for a treat.
The greatest start to any game ever made, and i mean the moment u turn the console on till the end of the first level! shame the game itself isnt that good
Such nostalgia of a happier time. Thank you for uploading this
I remember seeing this for the first time at my local Sears back in '93 on one of those demo stations. My tiny mind was BLOWN AWAY by these graphics and I still get chills everytime I hear this song ❤
i loved everything about this level. i would often restart just keep replaying trhe level lol
1:34 the awesome voices begin!
this game blew my mind when it can out so epic
I took the game too seriously with the music I literally thought I was in the game so I would say
"YAAAAAHOOOOOOO TAKE THAT WE'RE HIT IM NOT GOING DOWN WITH OUT A FIGHT AAAAAAAAAAAAA IM DOWN BRING IT YAAAAAAAHOOOOOO OH BRING IT LETS GOOOOOOO WE ARE CLEAR OOOOOOOOOOOO SNAPS AAAAAAAAAAA COME AT ME!!!!!!"
Crazy right?
The most amazing thing my 12 year old eyes had seen....still have this little gem too!!

At the time this Video was made, Star Fox was 14 Years old. Now in 2022, this video is 15 years old.
This whole begining and first level are just epic
Stage clear is my ringtone.
I really don't care: this sequence, true to form should never be dropped by _any_ future Starfox game, period.
They all need this Corneria scene, this directing and how this level plays out.
probs one of the best game starts of all time
I think its also cool that this game had a decent amount of voice work. Not a lot of games had actual speeking back then. This game was ahead of its time.
I love Starfox...
??? Blah blah and beep beep beep
Nintendo really need to give us a legitimate star fox and give us this theme again
Man, I remember as a little kid this game blew my mind.
The arwings scrambling from the base with that music buildup.
The nostalgia from watching this is giving me the warm fuzzies. This game was on point back then. Hell, if I could get my hands on it, I'd play it again right now. The graphics sucked even then, but the game was so awesome you can overlook it.
This comment is 13 years late...but, the graphics were seen as incredible back then.
Never played this but holy shit this is the most epic intro to a video game ever.
I appreciate it. I really need to replay this game someday.
The fact that this video was uploaded in 2007 should make it a landmark historical point in youtube history
Never gets old
I love this game so much!
Whose watching this in 2020, brings back memories, I played this game for hours
"Slippy's dead."
"NICE!"
WHO ARE YOU GUYS!?
We're Star Fox!
YOU'LL NEVER DEFEEAT ANDROOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSS
+Fionna Gomen Thank you for the quote from Star Fox 64.
thanks for thanking me for the quote from Star Fox 64 :D
+Chocobo Plays and I always though star fox 64 had a Corneria stage
1:37 Perfection!
Sony fanboys always seem to think that the PlayStation was the first successful 3D capable console. It’s not as glamorous as PlayStation graphics, but the Super Nintendo has them beat.
the nostalgia... it's... too... much...
Amazing
I can remember paying £100 to get this on Japanese import before it came out in the UK! I thought the animals were speaking Japanese and couldn't wait to get the English version.
And then you got the N64 sequel and wished they still spoke 'Japanese' ;)
Oof 🤣
What an atmosphere...
Never in my life have I decided to look at how Star Fox for the SNES worked or played. I don't know why. All I knew was the graphics were very basic. What a flashback! xxx :)
Best 16bit game sound track
Good luck!
Man
The best when they exit the base. I was 10 when I first played this in a SNES demo at a BX.
Kids were all amazed and I’m just like. Dad, I want an SNES. Please PLEAAAAASE!!!!

- WHO ARE YOU GUYS?
- We're Star Fox!
- YOU'LL NEVER DEFEAT AAAANDROOOOSS!
I have a feeling I'll still be hearing this song even after Im long gone :)
If a happy Saturday morning was a video.
Tz. Typical Falco. He hunts an enemy, messes it up and blames you for killing it. :D
OMG TEH MEMORIES!!!
one of the coolest games on super nintendo with one of the best video game soundtracks ever!
Ah yes, the good old FX chip that render us into the 3rd dimensional polygon world. It is a neat way to play this game even Doom.
Got this on my switch the memories
Best tune
Lol the only game I ever played to the end. Best game ever.
has to be the best tune ever created in a game, has to be. got this shit on repeat on spotify.
It's on Spotify??? How??
So many good old memories. In your face SEGA, this game proves that Ninten'do what Genesis'nt
All thanks to the innovation of the short lived Super FX chip.
every time i keep thinking Falcon is saying BOOOTY YEAAAHHH
Great graphics for is time.
No, for it's time the graphics sucked, they were just 3D which made for really unique and innovative gameplay.
Also the atmosphere and music was really great.
one of the best snes classics! just check out the music.. insane!
and the super fx chip was awesome!! later they used fx2 chip for yoshis island
Such a swag song
I remember playing this all the time. I would restart everytime my boi Slippy went down
Reason why you got to make sure your allies are alive. In the original Star Fox, when a wingman dies, they're dead. They don't come back.
still holds up
Yes it does.
What does the fox say? BAH DEB DEB DEB
god I luv the theme when the stage is over
Does anyone know what the operator is saying during the "Scramble" section before they fly out of the base? I can't make it all out.
the opening of this steals from terminator 2 :D (check "hospital chase" music from that film)
This was THE game that broke the "polygon" barrier with the Super FX micro-chip.
As far as difficulty goes this one isn't quite BattleToads but it's up there.
This same enemy is on Star fox 64 when you take the secret way through Corneria
Good job :). The Music in this stage is awesome. And you didn't take any damage from the boss :).
Hello, I come from the year 2016 were we are allowed to reply to comments instead of the @ symbol. CZcams has changed alot since then. Goodbye

14 years....
When he said "de bab beb deb", i felt that
the kids at recess who defended the Sega Genesis had no good comebacks once this game dropped
its true. we never saw anything like it at the time. we first played it on a 36 inch tube TV with like 15 kids from school in 93. a 36 incher was considered massive back then… we cranked the volume and were absolutely blown away
This game exists as a hardcopy in my brain.
1:10 - 1:50 These first seconds of game, the scenery, the music, i'll remember this part forever
Just think how revolutionary this was for the home consoles.
What a game
Double Wing Damage is what I always thought that gibberish meant
I'm searching for a snes game that I only have very vague memories of. First time I ever see the actual gameplay of the original Starfox.
My fav theme and level.I''m 33 now
