Biden's debate-prep team blew it big time. He was not well-rested and alert - and was so over-coached, he could hardly remember any of their complex talking points they tried to cram into him. This stage was his one best chance to show vigor and leadership qualities. He didn't - and I blame his prep team for lying to him and to themselves
My wife is very non political, never sees any of that type of content or cares. She watched the entire debate with me, I was extremely concerned watching Biden's performance, she on the other hand was so shocked by how terrible trump is and what a liar that she is telling me she'd vote Biden a million times over.
This guy on Tok Tok said his 8 year old son was watching, knowing nothing really. But his son was calling Trump a Liar.

In my country, these policies have taken from the middle-class and pointed the blame at the less-advantaged to enrich the moneyed. Our undeniable, national history of racism, and normal human fear of rapid technological change has been weaponized in this effort to blind good people to who the real predators are. I'm from another country. One where I could vote for (and be a member of) parties that were closer to my personal opinions than you could possibly dream of in a two-party system. Small country but 10-12 parties in parliament at any time.

Biden is a terrible communicator at times, he had a cold and combined with his stutter and doing campaign stuff during the day he was over tired and tried to throw facts in 2 minutes and couldn’t sometimes complete his statement. I was horrified. That being said, his speech today in NC was fabulous and he will be fine. Being President has nothing to do with debates, it has to do with how you perform at work. 90 minutes doesn’t define a life!

He knows there is no fact checking from the Hosts. and he just started thinking - I need to answer this. and he started rushing out off the cuff rebuttals but as hes talking hes trying to pick WHICH of the 5 lies i just heard in a minute can i respond to? and he panicked, he was speaking at 3 times normal speed and mumbling, so fast that I struggled to keep up, then he finished with a minute to spare - and he started throwing out loads of facts and figures and he got so many of them wrong. i was devastated like we all here were.
HOWEVER i rewatched and thought I dont know anybody who could have responded to those lies on the spot AND got their message out.

This is completely true. That's why there needs to be a campaigning process and debates that lead to polling which informs delegates come the convention. Until the 1960s, this was a very normal way to choose a candidate.

As somebody that works with the elderly, I believe Biden is cognitively intact. He's a little bit slower, he is softer spoken, but it is normal for his age. You add in the stutter and the amount of frustration he must feel towards Trump and then put a time limit on it, I can see where he faltered. I truly believe he still has the country's best interest at heart and can make good decisions for us. He just may need 5 minutes instead of two. Hell I'm 50 and I might need 10 minutes to articulate things and I am of sound mind. Plus I don't think a felon should have the right to run for president. How is that allowable? Both the RNC and the DNC need to look at putting two new candidates at the top of the ticket. Trump should not be allowed to run as a convicted felon. Bottom line!

Biden needs to think about 2028 as well as 2024. Biden is doing what Ruth Ginsburg did. He has had a very very successful presidency, so do the right and step aside. The democrats have to keep fielding strong candidates to keep the republicans as far away from the white house as possible. Hopefully by always losing, republicans will finally realize they need to change and follow laws and rules.

There were no moderators last night, they were just reading fucking questions. Moderators actually need to control things, and not by brute force muting mics by default. So what does that tell you about how people felt about the debate?

I had a similar knee jerk reaction, but upon further reflection, I think what mechanism monetarily is there. Biden is a good man and a great President. Debating a firehose of lies when you have phlegm blocking your trachea is something I would like to see anybody try to do.
I think Biden over prepared and was nervous. Watched him the next day at a rally and he seemed like a different person. I'm still convinced that stepping aside is a mistake at this point.

Debates stopped being persuasive a long time ago, when the time limits got too constrained for nuance. It's just a sport now; who can get in the most jabs. That debate performance was the worst thing that could’ve happened. I just hope nothing like this happens again going forward and voters have a short term memory.

Stepping aside would be a dramatic repudiation of what Trump tried to do. This would further burnish Biden's legacy. Think it would elevate Biden to be among our greatest presidents. Especially if he chose wisely his successor because he'd basically have that power.
I voted Biden in 2020, the 2024 primary and will vote for him in November. One debate is not an election! Tell Trump to drop out for the benefit of the country. Stop being so pessimistic about Biden!

It was far more than a bad debate. Biden’s performance gave the Republicans all video they need to convince more voters in swing states to vote for Trump. For the sake of our democracy, he needs to step aside asap. #♥UJOEITSTIMETOGO #NO$TILJOEGOES

Aussie here. I really can’t understand how everyone gets in a tizz over a debate. But also can you imagine if Biden pulls out of the race - Trump will do a victory tour 🙁
