  • Shooting a friend's #Pedersoli #Rolling #Block rifle in .45-70. The barrel itself is like 15 pounds so it tames the .45-70 fairly decently. A wonderful single shot rifle.
    Thanks Stan!

This was the rifle I hunted with when I was a kid. Dad used a Budapest, I used the .45-70 rolling block.

Watching you forget to reset the extractor over and over again really messed with me XD

That extractor can be fixed....it's PIA to have to keep fiddling with it every time you load a round into the chamber.

I bought a new in the white action from Navy Arms back in the 80s then started to add the parts made it a 45-70, still have it.........If you don't hammer the rolling block back so hard trying to "eject" spent cases with the extractor , you won't have to alway set it forward, just ease the roller back, the case will pull out enough to grab easy and the extractor will be far enough forward to slide the new round in while the rim grabs the extractor.

This no doubt would be a heavy rifle to pack and carry while on foot. On horseback it may be different. Especially if the owner was hunting elk, moose, caribou, buffalo (bison) and
had a string of pack animals, like a mule for instance.

Maybe if you didn't slam the breach block open so hard you wouldn't have that problem with the extractor.

I have had two of the original Remingtons, one was converted to 45-70 and the one I have now is still an original in 7mm.
Either the Pedersoli is a piece of crap or it's having serious operator problems?
Anyway, all the Buffalo are safe!
That extra step in loading it kinda slows things down!

Looked like you were shooting a hand cannon. Lol That is one sweet rifle. Is that a reproduction?

If you don’t mind my asking, how tall are you? I am making a prop Rolling Block and feel like most of my reference photos are of people much larger then me but you seem closer to average/my height.

I wonder how many men died fumbling because .45-70 is straight-walled. I'd bet anything it's a non-zero number.

I recently purchased one of these and was unable to locate the serial number. Any chance you know where it is inscribed? Also, are you shooting modern, smokeless powder ammo in this model?

description says it‘s a Pedersoli repro, since it‘s used the value would be a little under MSRP.
