- HAPPY VLOGMAS DAY 23! TODAY I REVIEW BADGER SUNSCREEN AND BAKE SWEET POTATO COOKIES. RECIPE DOWN BELOW!
Sweet potato cookies
Dry ingredients
1 cup rolled oats pulsed to flour in food processor
1/4 cup unsalted raw sunflower seeds pulsed to flour in food processor
2 tsp arrowroot starch
2tsp cinnamon
1/8tsp cloves
1/2tsp nutmeg
*Combine above dry ingredients together in a small bowl and mix together with a fork.
*In a separate bowl, combine the following:
1 cup mashed sweet potato
1/4cup unsweetened applesauce
2Tsp vanilla extract
2Tbs molasses
Zest of 1/2 orange
Juice of 1/2 orange
*Fold in contents of dry mix into wet mix
*Using a cookies scoop place on parchment lined baking sheet
*Bake 350 for 35-40 minutes

I went to father daughter dances from middle school to Senior year of High School. My dad and I had so much fun, it was about memories and we still talk about til this day. For me and my dad, it was about creating memories and having fun. I can see how, well now these days, it’s about makeup and looks. Back in the day it wasn’t about that at all.
Plus I've always found them to be a good way for a father to show their daughters how a date should treat them later in life - with respect and consideration.
i think father daughter dances are sweet. whether the girl gets dressed up or not, it’s a way to celebrate the bond between the two.
I agree for sure they were some of the sweetest moments between my husband and our daughters. There was no hair and makeup involved.
The concept is truly the most American thing I’ve ever heard lol

My all time favorite sunscreen is the blue lizard!! I keep rebuying it time and time again!! It’s very moisturizing and non irritating! Plus it has a two dollar coupon in it that I use every time 😀I was wondering if the spf in it is high enough because it’s only 30?

T Gilbert I was going through HELL with my skin. I don't know what happened. Rosacea or eczema or allergic reaction or dermatitis etc. Skin red raw peeling off and scaly as hell. Docs couldn't help really. Just found I'm super iron deprived anaemic and viral infection sick fir weeks . So when I found Dr Dray I stripped back any quick fixes I bought in desperation. Cerave was and cream. That's it. Slow and steady I am healing. But my skin is better for shocking my system. Sick of beauty gurus on CZcams killing skin when they don't even use what they peddle. I have to tell you that I am loving using mineral oil as make up remover as you recommended, it is so nice just like the clinique balm :) It took me for ever to find it at CVS but it was by the laxative section lol! See, I was always taught, when it comes to dances, that you dress for yourself, you wear what you feel confident in, what makes you feel like a princess. You don't dress to impress your date. You dress like a princess because that's how your date should treat you- like a princess. This is what my Dad taught me, and it gave me a different perspective on dating in life.
My Dad took me to Daddy daughter dances when I was a little girl, and I remember him teaching me how a boy should respectfully treat a girl. :-)

sure...so long as you reapply sunscreen the tint does not matter

Would I be able to add some drops of Marisa oil in my cerave cream to add more moisture? Also do oils interfere with sunscreen. (The Olay sunscreen link isn't the same as what you're using. Think it's changed)
that is not useful by an large and yes they can interfere with sunscreen set up

mosturizer w/ spf is good, so long as you apply enough of it and reapply it consistently

products do not alter the rate of sebum production...that is governed by hormonal influneces

The vlogs with your mom are my favorites as well as when you cook/bake. Your mom's comment about the cookies being surprisingly good made me laugh. I plan to try that recipe. My mom, sister and grandmas are all gone now and I really miss baking with them especially at the holidays. I have kitchen tools and aprons of theirs and use and wear them as I bake for Christmas. It is a way to have them with me. I wear my grandma's Christmas apron and I have the matching one she made me when I was a little girl (I am 60 yrs old now.). My son wore my little apron when he was little. Someday I hope to have a grand-love to wear it while I wear my grandma's. Precious memories and precious memories to be made yet. 🎄 Merry Christmas Dr. Dray and Mama Dray.

I come from a household that dances. The father/daughter dance was a chance for both of us to dress up and go dancing. My brother was often a date for some friend or another at other dances, so we would dance together there too. The problem I had is that they assumed that mothers and daughters wanted to do a tea and not dance too. We all danced at home and weddings, we wanted the same chance to dance at school too! Also, going to an all-girls school, we had a unique perspective in that if someone showed up in pants and no makeup, we were totally fine with that. It really was more of a time to show each other respect. I agree, that fathers and daughters could also just do a father/daughter tea, or what have you. I never saw it as disturbing until now, and I see your point.

This sunscreen review is good timing because I was just thinking about trying to find a new sunscreen. I love Josie Maran's with the way it feels and no white cast even though it's all mineral SPF, but it has fragarance. :( I may look into these. Thanks Dr. Dray!
TheKatalicious17 Dr. Dray I think that in 2013 Badger had to recall around 30k of their sunscreens because of product contamination. I haven’t used the brand since then. I don’t get how they preserve their products. Maybe do a “natural” preservative video in the future? I’ve had bad luck with natural products on that front, including disgusting mold 😖

I completely agree with your comments about father/daughter dances. Bonding with dad by hiking, jogging, travel, etc.....is great. I’ve heard of girls getting into makeup, hair.....renting limos etc.....just a bit much.

I've communicated with Badger, & even with its thickness & whiteness, you need to apply 2 layers to get the full SPF listed on the tube. Most people are not aware of this...
I've worn Sport 35 for years, & the best way to apply it is NOT straight out of the tube. Emulsify it on your palm, pat it all over, wait a min, then spread & rub in. Wait 10 min, & then apply the 2nd layer. Unfortunately it is a laborious process, but it yields the least whitnening effect, & highest protection.
It is not a great base for makeup though, & due to the zinc, it gives much more opacity to whatever foundation you apply over it.
this is the case with every sunscreen, not just badger..people grossly under apply and never achieve the spf on the label

I have prurigo nodularis and I have found your videos to be very helpful in steering me in the right direction for skin care. I am thinking of phasing out anything fragranced and would love to hear your thoughts on prurigo. Every time I see a derm I get the typical "stop picking" answer and no real solutions offered.
"stop picking" is the real solution....that being said, it is 1000000000000+ X easier said than done

Dr dray i am Indian and my skin is prone to acne and dark spots. So can i use neutrogena pore refining exfoliating cleanser as my daily facial wash. Will this make me more prone to dark spots ?? It is a AHA and BHA cleanser thats why i am afraid using this.

I have been using the Badger fragrance free active sunscreen and I have noticed a dramatic improvement in my acne. I have never worn a zinc sunscreen on a daily basis before and I am wondering if the zinc is helping improve my skin due to its anti-inflmatory properties. Is this possible and/or true that zinc can clear acne?
zinc applied topically is not really a go-to for acne, and sometimes can be a little drying, so can help in certain settings
About the father daughter dance my daughter went when she was 12 she didn’t put any makeup or anything. She doesn’t care about makeup which I’m glad about that. She wore a cute dress she already had.
