A beautiful lady and actress. So sad to see her go but I will never tire of wathing her films over and over again. Thank-you and have a happy retirement Miss Marple, Geraldine!!
On Screen - she is Miss Marple for me. All her predecessors and successors are so so - I don't know how they went gaga over hickson (I guess because of a stray remark by Christie and the Queen lauding her that settled the question for many :D)
I prefer Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple. Because she absolutely has that cheerful, but curious old lady look and tone. But, Julia McKenzie is way too serious for the role and did not come off as a very friendly one as much as Geraldine. Geraldine also had the 'unchanged' attitude when she realises the murderer while another one has too much of a worried look.
THAT is what was so enjoyable about CZcams, you could just watch all the Agatha Christie shows and not be pressured... now we have to pay to see these wonderful series. Very disappointing.
This Lady is my favorite of all the Ms..Marple . I like Julie Mc as Ms. Marple also.. but, the best one's were Margerate Rutherford and then Geradine McEwen. I could never enjoy Joan Hickson, she was so stern and not friendly like Geradine. NOW, WE CAN'T WATCH ANY OF THE MS. MARPLE EPISODE'S OF ANY OF THE FAVORITE'S .. JUST JOAN HICKSON'S .. MS. MARPLE. AND NO POIROT'S EPISODES.. NOT FAIR.
Mcewean was definitely very good as miss Marple but in my opinion hickson is head and shoulders above all the rest it's like comparing Nora batty with farrah fawcett it's a different planet
I love Geraldine, but Julia McKenzie is wonderful too. I dread seeing what the BBC will do now that ITV lost the rights. They are working on the Tommy and Tuppence stories which generally sucked. Probably the usual boring, cutsey rubbish will ensue.
Lollipopfop ITV ruined the stories and had no resemblance to the stories whatsoever. At least BBC were faithful to the stories they filmed with Joan Hickson during the 80s and early 90s. Nothing will ever compare. In fairness to ITV, they were absolutely bang on with the Poirot stories
Terrible portrayal of Miss Marple and as for the productions..... I was just waiting for the episodes where Miss Marple travelled back in time to ancient Egypt to solve Death comes as the end or running around with Victoria Jones to ensure that the diplomatic meeting ran smoothly in They came to Baghdad or even infiltrating the leper colony in Destination unknown
Geraldine was the best Miss Marple of them all. The only one who looked and acted the part as it was written.
I agree
Exactly

A gracious, charming , and gifted actress. I loved her performances, especially in Mulberry.

An episode of Miss Marple with Geraldine is about to start on TV in 5 minutes.
Great tribute. Thank you.
i couldn't find her nemesis episode, as it is my favourite. She was the absolute best miss marple on tv
:) If I had a TV family made up of actors and actresses, she'd definitely be my fav granny!
I loved her as miss Marple... :) I always thought, she played the part exactly as was intended in the books... :)

#GeraldineMcEwan
Najlepsza ze wszystkich ,uwielbiam ją:)
Not many people know she did Thomas Hardy's Tess in 1960 with the BBC, i would love to get a hold of that gem.

***** You're absolutely right. Miss Marple was cheerful and gentle. "Too serious" is a very kind way of putting it.
I love Geraldine McEwan she is miss Marple. Julie McKenzie 2nd
coolio:P

Hated her as Miss Marple - totally out of her depth
Geraldine McEwan is miss Marple.
