      @@mattrinehart9348 yo man calm down its all going to be fine im going through dp/dr right now and i did have intrusive thoughts like oh no im having the same symptoms as schizophrenia and bipolar and yes it is such a scary thought but all dp is is just anxiety. You dont have to worry about having this forever or having like something else its dp and nothing else. The key to overcoming dp is to accept the feelings and it does seem hard like oh my god i cant do this for any longer if you want to recover the best tips i can give you is stop researching it if you get a symptom then dont search it up just think okay im feeling not normal but this wont last forever and it will go soon your life will get back on track, dont think of dp as an enemy its not gonna harm you it cant harm but do not worry man it cant last forever and you will snap out of it :)

    This is amazing. I’m so happy to hear someone on the channel talk about intrusive dark thoughts. I’ve been through several inner struggles and DP led me to have the intrusive thought “what if this gets so bad I want to end it all” and it TERRIFIED me. I didn’t even wanna be by myself for fear I might act on it. When I realized that the fear was literally there to protect me, to prevent me from ever actually doing something like that- I felt so relieved. Fear is your friend, guys! Fear is there to protect you, always. If you have an intrusive thought like, “what if I harm myself or other people?” And you react with fear of that thought, it is proof that the thought is unwanted and definitely not something you want. Accept that the fear is there, and that the thoughts require no attention because they are meaningless. They will pass ❤

    Glad to see she is doing much better! Right now I’m having a bit of a relapse of symptoms, I’m doing okay but I have a question. Reading the chapter on the “nonsense illusion”, you mention that it works of the same predication as depression, that it hijacks your thoughts and makes you think all you are doing is worthless. My question is are the thoughts of feeling stuck in a rut and worrying you’re losing purpose part of the nonsense illusion? Or is that actual depression? I’m just feeling confused about my emotions and I can’t tell if I’m actually depressed and should seek help, or if this is just a fear of being depressed and I just need to follow the manuals guidelines?

    Also
    I need to know however that if you know of or yourself experienced every time you look at or think of your friends or family your brain tells you their not real, because I’m scared I’m going to never forget these solipsism thoughts. Like im constantly having to battle my mind about everything in reality being unreal.
    And finally would you suggest tiktok as a good distracting tool when thoughts do arise?

      Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com
      And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

    Hello! Ever since I saw the top 10 symptoms vid I’ve been feeling better and I got the DP manual to make sure I have a nice audiobook to listen to on my road to recovery. Although I’ve found my biggest struggle currently isn’t really addressed which is a lack of sleep. I just spent a whole night not falling asleep at all. I didn’t just stay in bed the whole night, I would get out of bed and do things then try again but that didn’t work. I even took 3mg of Melatonin before bed and that used to help but didn’t do anything last night. Any recommendations for this? Not being able to sleep is scaring me.

    Only thing that triggers an episode now is either bad sleep (sleeping too much or too little) or some big change in environment (driving test, days before vacation) but other than that I more or less recovered. It feels good knowing it’s not there 24/7. I should be exercising more though 😂. There’s a medication called lamictal and it has amazing reviews for dpdr. It doesn’t make you high or anything (you don’t even notice you’re taking a medication) but it just slowly helps you return to normality. I came here because I got bored and to just recommend this medication as it is a life saver.

    • @1298blaster
      @1298blaster Před rokem

      @@mattrinehart9348 You are correct as to lamictal can cause a very dangerous rash. However the rash usually happens if you tilter up the dose it’s quickly (which is why it’s important to have a psychiatrist help you get to the desired dose) the rash (known as Steven Johnson syndrome) is also incredibly rare; happening in about 0.08% of people. Lamictal was originally prescribed for epilepsy, but it’s been shown to have promising results for the depressive symptoms of bipolar. It’s also prescribed off label for major depressive disorder, and even DPDR. It’s one of the few medications that work for dpdr, as its believed to primarily work on the GABA receptors in the brain. Just to note, I’m not a doctor, but I’m simply regurgitating what I’ve read online, and what my own psychiatrist has told me. I can also provide my own anecdotal advice since I’ve been taking lamictal for a little over 2 years now.
