I got a 6.5 Cr all black. I had my gunsmith mount a scope on it and then brought it home. The Bolt was not on the rifle. And the safety switch was on Red. I didn't know how to get the switch down to the locked position (white). I kept pressing on top and nothing was happening.
Till I started watching your review and at 6:45 you pressed "forward" on the switch to get it to move. I put the video on pause, grabbed the rifle that is been sitting behind me in a case and pressed as hard as I could and what do you know, it worked. So, thank you for that. Your video review paid off. I had problem getting the bolt mounted since I brought it home from my gunsmith. First, there was a part of trigger that was in the vertical position blocking the bolt to be mounted. I was pushing it down with my finger to lock down but it wasn't. I emailed my gunsmith photos and he called me and said to use a screwdriver to push it further down to lock it in and it worked. Then I tried to mount it again, but it wasn't going in. I looked at it in detail and apparently there is a tiny, tiny button on the left hand side that you are supposed to press and hold and then press the bolt forward to fall in place and it did. But, it took like three days of research to solve three issues with the bolt. But, I tell you after mounting the bolt I tried it and it is totally awesome and as smooth as can be. I kept playing with it forward and backward and just brought smile to my face after getting it to work. I am planning to add two other calibers as soon as they become available. I bought mine from the folks at Gunzonedeals dot com. If you want the lowest price anywhere on a firearm, they are it. BTW, love your reviews, you get into the nitty gritty details that might be missed. Keep up the good work and thanks for solving my last problem :)

Looked at a few different straight pulls over the last 10-15 yrs, just couldn't talk myself into the price on them, even though they do involve a lot of estra work to build. I definitely like the concept, haven't encountered one I wasn't impressed with, don't think a person would go wrong on them, but, have to have the will to spend the loot on one, wouldn't take long to get into an 8-10k investment.

Beside some 49 years of gunmaking under my belt: were a small ‘former’ part of it consisted of several years of repair, maintenance or alterations work on Blaser rifles through Euro/NZ importers after having enjoyed some ‘former’ training at their ‘Isny am Algäu’ gunmaking-factory, I wished all gun companies would be honest & more forthcoming for once! This just considering that this is basically a Blaser R93 knock-off, so I call Beretta’s 7 yrs development total ‘bs’!
It could well be that with the ongoing increasing success of their R8 design, Blaser no longer had any use for their old R93 design? Similarly to Merkel: Beretta has either managed to purchase their 30 yr old partial/full patent outright or made the usual simple, small design changes to circumvent their patent rights for the Blaser R93 all together, as Beretta has indeed made a few small improvements on the original design!

The action has nothing in common.
It's funny how, in any comment section about this rifle, there's always some Blaser fanboy that doesn't know how it works, but firmly believe Blaser have invented straight pull rifles.

Well, don’t count me in that group as obviously you have no clue whatsoever! I guess somehow you had a bad Blaser experience and have since become to hate the ‘Blaser boys’ and for that you’re the Blaser expert? Again: having worked on them for years, from what I see, its all-around R93 copy: except they’ve used an AR-style turn-bolthead to get around the old R93 expanding collet-bolthead they’re still using in the R8!

@@johanneskolenbrander8288 So it's a Blaser copy except for the only original thing Blaser has. Thanks for having confirmed you don't know what you are talking about. It's like saying that a new hammer fired, steel framed, pistol with a somewhat blocky look is a Glock copy.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but technical patents last for 20 years max.
That means that, having the R93 been released in 1993, ANYONE interested could have made a straight copy (a real one, not a pretended one) since 2013 at the latest, or evolve the expanding action as much as he wanted.
If none made one, it's because none was interested.

Not sorry at all to burst your superior all-knowing keyboarding firearms ‘expertise’ bubble sunny; Merkel with their KR-1 already circumvented that patent more then a decade ago, as with the introduction of the R-8 there was obviously no need to keep that of the R93 going!

I won’t bother trying to level or dispute your superior keyboardist firearms knowledge & skills any further; continue to be getting fooled by big industrial, just like most of you allowed themselves to be shafted & fooled by big pharma just 2 yrs ago!

    typical european over-engineering
amazing, complicated, a lot can go wrong
needs really consistent maintenance to prevent damage on the fine mechanisms
not really everyone's style, I'll gladly take a bolt action with simple maintenance and heavy action

Had my BRX1 Australian version 30-06 for past two years, already put almost 2,000 rounds through it mostly on wild pig control, but also took it to Alaska and New Zealand hunting in tough conditions. Has performed flawlessly and I am not great at caring for my rifles.

@@tonysambar That's an amazing testimony, 2k rounds is no small number for a long action. I'd be scared though, it's a beautiful rifle but seems to have a complicated bolt mechanism; and although the barrel swapping sound amazing, it can't be good for the threads to take the rifle apart even twice a year
Glad you have had no issues, the straight pull was always a dream of mine
