Have a 7002 from 1989. My dad brought it for me but after three or so years I misplaced it and often regretted the fact, especially after he passed away in the late 90's. In 2016 I found it in a box of stored papers when my wife and I moved house. Amazingly it not only still worked (the strap had perished) but it kept good time. After servicing its been a dream. As accurate as my SKX007 I love its simplicity of design with date only window. A wonderful watch with lots of sentiment attached to it.
This is my everyday wear watch. My dad gave me his. I just ordered a teal SEIKO 5 sonar gonna retire this watch and preserve it and start wearing it. Great video buddy! This will be my 5th SEIKO.
I have this same exact Seiko watch which I got around the early 90s. At that point, I had just finished high school and was attending college. I never knew the dial was originally dark blue as it looked black when I bought it new from the shop. I suspect it may have faded due to exposure to direct sunlight for too long in the display case. The primary reason why I got this watch was for it ability to be immersed in water for prolonged periods as I enjoyed snorkeling around the island resorts off the Malaysian East coast and the earlier Seiko 5 wristwatch which I had just did not cut it for extended swimming in the sea. I still wear this Seiko on a regular basis and it's rotated occasionally between a few other regular Seiko 5s and Seiko Sports automatics. Thanks for the great video and I look forward to more in the near future. Cheers.
Well your video convinced me to go and track down a 7002-700a and pick it up. It was t easy to find one that wasn’t modded however, but I did manage to find one. Same strap, looks perfect. Gets a lot more wrist time than I thought it would.
The seller did a magnificent job in packaging that watch... the tin case protected it from heavy debris hitting it white its being slammed by usps, ups, fed ex or dhl, and the good amount of bubble wrap was perfect to protect the case and movement from being thrown by said carriers....and believe me....they throw our packages around like trash.
Looks cool. A few of my older seikos like my OG 6105 is on a British green nato nylon, my 7002 also nylon, my skx007 on a super Jubilee...and my newest addition of divers the Seiko spb147j and spb077. The the 147 variant I kept on the stock strap and also kept the bracelt on the spb077...the bracelt feels pretty good considering how seiko is with their bracelets. I have a beautiful Omega seamaster 300m 41mm that I never wear anymore because I've become over the last decade a seiko fan man! I picked up a damn near mint Seiko Sarg009 over a year ago....and that's just a real handsome piece. Discontinued.... but still some out there.
One of my favorites, and my oldest surviving dive watch, is a 7002-7020. That is a 200m watch, black dial, not quite as snazzy as yours but more of a tool/beater design.
I have a green dial 7002 and a black dial skx007.I love the 7002 and that’s the watch that gets the most wrist time. Bought off eBay 2 years ago and was serviced by seller.
Gerardo Esparza Very nice! My 7002 certainly gets the most wrist time as well. Ironically my brand new and more expensive skx007 is my swim / beater watch
I have two 7002-700A. One is from 92', currently with yellow dial / chapter ring, but i'll revert to black. The other is from 96, with a very nice green dial / chapter ring, on a jubilee. I have other watches, but these are just amazing. Still running great, and the way they sit on the the wrist is simply perfect.
@@Alex-mv2tx regarding the lug width, if it's a 22mm bracelet or straps it should be fine. The only issue you may have is with the shape of the curved end links, as it may not be a perfect fit for the case. Ask the seller before buying.
I just got one without any scratches only for 3000 PHP (55 USD) what a good deal. By serial number and design it's made in 1998 with steel bracelet. Really happy about it and the price was good cause it has n9 scratches, just a bit dirty. Did clean it with rum and toothbrush and it looks like straight out of Seiko shop.
Had one since 82 still on my wrist. Never let me down but the bezel went West in Malaysia so got it replaced with a 24 one. Cracked the glass in 96 , but I don't get it wet so who cares.
beside the lesser bubble wrap, the seller make a good effort to send in with metal box that can be use for what ever reason you like later. The metal box can survive all those real life abuse behind the courrier service.
Can you post the name of the person who does refirb on these? I have one that no longer will run, I just bought a new used Movement from EBAY and would love to get this back in service with all my other Seiko's it is still by far my Fav watch. thanks
There’s only a few years when promethium was used, it’s half life was 2.5 years so it was largely ineffective shortly after production. Later models used Seikos proprietary lumibrite. I like the grey/silver colour it develops as it ages, however it’s becoming more challenging to find one that has the original handset. Don’t worry about the lume, you’re not getting wrist cancer anytime from it.
ARGƎNTVM Prod. Really depends what you’re into. If this is the start to your collection though I’d go for a more recent model than the 7002 so you don’t have to worry about lubricating or replacing gaskets on it. The SKX007 or even the newer Seiko 5 SRPD models (which have hacking and hand winding but don’t have a screw down crown) would be great. The SKX will get you more of a nod from watch collectors but the SRPD may be easier to live with and you’ll have more variants to choose from. 🙂

The DAL1BP rubber looks the best on the watch imho...Amazing watch and great video!

I have two of 700a1 and i love them, those pieces have so much soul compare to skx, I will choose them over skx

Does any stainless steel seiko strap fit the 7002-700A??

I have bought a generic seiko one so I will see if it fits. Thanks for the reply.

I have a 1987 6309-7290 , exactly the same dial as 7002 except for day date window. Skx crown is on 3:45 while 7002 and 6309 is exactly on 4 oclock.
my dream watch both
Nice video. Do u know where u get the bezel insert and crystal for tis watch? Let me know if convenient thxz
the 7002 crown is positioned at exactly the 4 o'clock mark whereas the skx is slightly more anticlockwise, this makes the 7002 look a little narrower.
I love that model oo7 Seiko diver watch ,,coz I have that

I have the exact 002

well my 7002 200m Transitional watch does not have a bi directional bezel. Im the original owner purchased it in 1988.
What would be an estimate of the current day value of a 7002-7001 A1? (2023-08)

Did you say that the lume on the older watch is radio - active?. I thought that that practice was stopped in the 1970s.

Which would you recommend as a start to a collection?

How much is a NOS 7002-7000 1994
Have an original 7002 from 1992 got it for my 21st
Didnt wear it much as the rubber straps are a complete dog
Appreciate it now still
The 7000 series movement is far better than the 7s26 in the skx!
are the crystals from the original one too?
Zayyad Foodhouse Yes, it’s a hardlex Crystal with the scratches polished out as you usually do with hardlex :)
can I put a nh36 movement on it ?
a $70 for a all original head of 7002 worth it ?
Nh35 with the day only, no date but I’m not sure that it would fit to be honest.
magkano kung bebenta seiko dyvers 702
Hope seller is from India New Delhi
Will SKX007 stainless steel bracelet fit in 7002?
yes, 22mm
Has anyone actually tried this??
@@Alex-mv2tx yes, i have tried this with the strapcode bracelet for the skx, and it fits.
What is a strap size for 7000 ?
22mm
I have that kind of watch the 7002-700A just pm me
bezel, bezel insert, hands not original
The hands are aftermarket. Today you can find a lot of 7002 with aftermarket parts. Don´t buy this crap.
This cost half the price of a used bb58
