Solid New York tour. Angelos is my pizza spot. Only thing you missed out on was a proper New York city Bagel w/cream cheese...from Absolute Bagel
Native New Yorker here. You are correct. Native New Yorkers never hang out in Times Square. That is for our tourists whom we warmly welcome. Native New Yorkers DO love to spend time in Central Park especially on weekends.
That $66 urban fee is ridiculous. All these hotels in the US are charging crazy hidden fees for no reason. Hopefully the government puts an end to random charges.
A few more things to see in NYC:
1. Brooklyn Bridge
2. Ferry ride on the East River
3. Brooklyn Bridge Park
4. Little Island
5. One Vanderbilt or the Edge
6. Ride a bike along the West Side Highway
7. Get ethnic food in Queens or Brooklyn. So many choices. Cheaper for sure than Manhattan.
8. Brewery tour. So many great breweries in the city.
Communist
@@pawrestlingchamp geez all that and you pull out a stupid response? What is the point even. You probably don't even know a thing about what communism is
@@pawrestlingchamp what
B&H is a must for any photographer to visit. I stopped in just to look around in 2005 between the Canadian and Indy F1 races. I went in to look around and walked out with a maxed out Visa card and 4 boxes of new Nikon gear.
Great vid as always Kym, as an American who once lived in NYC I found it even more interesting. A small correction: Central Park is actually 840 acres not 340 acres, it is 2 miles long and half a mile wide. With modest valuation of 1000 dollars per square foot it has an estimated land value of 39 billion dollars. You are right about the expense of living there… it’s insane, and the reason I don’t live there anymore. However if I had the money I would move back in a New York minute ;)
If you really want a Philly cheesesteak, make the effort to go visit Philly and get one at Angelo’s Pizzeria in South Philly (their pizza is also amazing). TRUST ME on that one- it’s spectacular.
You could also visit where Rocky was filmed and see where the Declaration of Independence was signed!
Love your videos !
Unlikely to get there unless they have a race.
@@KymIllman Everything worth doing in Philly can be done in a day. It's a short drive from NYC, so if you're ever back, maybe consider tacking on the extra day.
@@justawhisperintheuniverse8257 heck, just take the train, it's quick and cheap enough
@JedStrogan This ^^^, Philly is a disgusting city and still trying to thrive off Rocky and Hoagie tourists
Philly CS always ordered with extras, usually “sauce and onions”, but just mustard is ok.
Beat part was the random energetic guy at the end ‘stay passionate’ 😃
Such an energy after long time ! 😊
Love New York. We lived there from 2000 to 2013 and it's the best city in the world. Amazing food, super convenient subway and so much to see and do. Shame you didn't pop into the Woolworth building while you were at the WTC memorial
A $66 urban fee. Strewth. Thanks Kim for your video.
Angelo's? Never heard of it. Definitely a tourist spot. Next time come to Brooklyn. Or, if you can't be bothered to cross the East River, at least go to Arturo's, Patsy's, Lombardi's or John's on Bleecker in the City.
You are so right about how expensive it is to live in New York City. Lived here most of my adult life and it still shocks me.
You missed the best observation deck in NYC - the Summit at One Vanderbilt
And the best steakhouse - Peter Luger in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Been around since the 1800s
Great NY tour, love B&H Camera too!
los tacos is so good, when i visit my dad at work during the summer, we always make sure to get los tacos at least once
A rare vlogger who has the skill and taste vlogging deserves
Cheers
In NYC at this writing. Went to grad school here, have a son who lives in Brooklyn and visit at least twice a year. That said, staying in the Lower East Side this visit - it’s awesome. Next trip, check it out.
Have you had Indian food on the lower East side?
The Frick collection is amazing!!
This was a great video. Please do one for Montreal. There are fantastic restaurants there.
Wont have time in Montreal I fear
I love your travel vlogs!! Fantastic Kym.
New York is spectacular.
Thanks for the tour…
Cheers
Sad I missed you in NY! Love to hear that Angelo’s is your reigining pizza champ
G'day mate. I've heard and read about how ridiculously expensive NYC is so I'm glad you included prices to give the video context. Was wondering how much the 2 nights at the Sofitel cost ? Thanks.
Kym i really like these kind of video !!!!
Kym. I LOVE these travel videos. Please do more.
Love it!
Angelos pizza is amazing!!!!
Very interesting quick tour. I think I've been everywhere you did there and loved it. I have not been to B&H, however, but as a photographer would love too.
Nice to see you were in my city.
Welcome to NYC mate!
Good timing, I’m off there on Tuesday for 6 nights!
Do a tour outside of the most touristy areas next time and you may find it a BIT less expense ;)
I don’t often comment on your videos but am a fan. Interesting commentary and I appreciate your honest thoughts on the food and attractions. I had to look up the Urban fee! 😮 Safe travels! ✈️
What a coincidence, because I am leaving for New York tmrw morning. Thanks for the video, will definetly check out these places
Kim you legend🙌🏼🙌🏼 Love this shit💪🏼🥳
Lol Kyle thanks for this, I plan on going there in July and was completely lost on what to put on my to do list
Looked like fun. All be it a bit pricey. I’m sure all major metropolitan areas around the world are always going to have a higher cost. I’m sure you could stay just outside the city for a great deal less cost. Then you have logistics to deal with. Cheers mate.
Kym, Great video - I gained a few pounds watching you enjoy the pizzas and cheesesteak! NY cheesecake is also a treat-maybe next time! Safe travels.
Love anchovies and black olives.
Brave man New York subway, There is nothing cheap in the Big Apple, come to Philly for a cheese steak
Kym, thank you so much for showing me what one of my bucket list look like in advance. Thoroughly enjoyed this video thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Oh wish I knew you are coming to NYC 😮
Kym stay safe 😊
As a New Yorker i loved this vid Kym, I actually live in one of those buildings downtown you showed when you were at the one world observatory and I have one of your Photo Books from the 2022 Monaco GP and I hold it with dear pleasure.
Grazie
Kym Kym, Kym.. You do not get a Philly cheesesteak in New York !!! It has to be in Philly.. I Still love you though !!! Great video like always !!
Great tour Kym , thank you. Loving the Top Gear & Ghostbusters clips, however anchovies on pizza? 🤢
Hello Kim! next time you must go to enjoy Artichoke Basille's Pizza on MacDoougal St, near Wahington Square! Greetings from Mexico!
You got a hot dog right by my office! LOL. 52nd and 6th.
You’re so multifaceted Kym! Didn’t know you played piano so well
Lovely video as usual, which city did you like the best Miami or NY?
I love NY even with everything being so pricey and noisy!
I would love to visit Adorama if I went to NY. I have leant a lot about photography from those guys.
Love your videos as always, sorry I missed this one when it came out a few months back. As a local I have some thoughts!
1) only go to Times Sq for Broadway shows. Everything else there is not worth your time/money. I GUESS you can go look at the lights but I don't really see the allure.
2) Nathan's is solid but ideally you'd get them at the original Coney Island location. Papaya King is temporarily closed (ugly real estate struggle) but they're my favorite personally.
3) You should have gone to Katz's or another old Jewish deli (2nd Ave Deli is another) and had some pastrami. For out of towners Katz's also has the benefit of being the location of the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally.
4) If you were here in the spring, you should have checked out a baseball game assuming one of the two locals were in town. Or better yet, travel out to Coney Island or Staten Island for minor league baseball, which is kind of like MLB's version of F2/F3.
5) Maybe not for everyone but a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge will offer some great views and there's a lot more to explore in Brooklyn.
6) Saks is best for high-end stuff. Bergdorf Goodman is smaller but even more fancy than Saks. Macy's at Herald Square is iconic but chaotic, especially around the holidays. Bloomingdale's is best for everything else.
My vote is for Prince St Pizza. It's a Sicilian but very good! I make sure to go there at least once every trip!
Love this videos that is not all about F1 :)
Kim give 'Marta' in Nomad a shot. thin crust, and overall top 3 pizza I've had in manhattan as a local
Love the US videos! Look forward to your return for Austin and Vegas. NYC is certainly stupid expensive. I’ve actually been to London and Paris more in the last decade than New York so my “data” could be out of date, but I find London pricier than NYC with both of those making Paris look like a bargain by comparison.
Go to Cafe Napoli in the Bowery. I picked it sort of randomly and a NYC blogger had it in a recent video as one of the best Zoob Zib Thai on 9th Ave was delicious and affordable.
So close…wish you would have had a meet up(as I’m in Long Island) 😅 Great Touring video…hope NY treated you well!!
Kym - I was at Indy practise all day yesterday in the garages and my stuff didn't set off the machines at the airport, maybe you just look supicious :-) :-) I was also staying in Carmel, it's a little gem of a city north of Indy
One interesting thing to do would be to walk along one or more of the streets and count the number of businesses that are operational vs the number that are closed or space for rent... and see if that has gotten any better than it was 2 years ago.
A halal stand is a good alternative to the hotdog.
In the city weekly for work and I always try and find a “halal bros” cart for lunch
Steinway used to offer tours at their factory in Queens but unfortunately they no longer do. Hopefully they bring that back some day!
I'm shocked you went to Manhattan and didn't go to a deli. Next trip go to Katz's Delicatessen and the original location of Russ & Daughters. You'll thank me 👍
Hope you have a meetup this year in Austin at COTA!
Kym. 0:30 Wiping down camera equipment. Recall Indy fuel is still 85% ethanol (alcohol) so wiping it down with alcohol will not cut it. Don't be fooled by the Shell sign. Its not gas. Max uses gas cologne. Pato uses alcohol fuel but smells like pancakes after. Suggestion: use a synthetic fibre cleaning cloth that you can wash and reuse
Kym the everywhere man.....god i love your blogs
Make sure that you see a price for the hotdogs on the cart before you purchase. If there isn’t a price once they hand you what you bought they will raise the price because now you are stuck. $7 is a rip off.
Speaking about hidden talents! The piano playing would make a cool video…
Can you take a picture of us? She asked the right person indeed!
As a native New Yorker who now lives in Philly the Philly cheesesteak from a place in nyc is setting yourself up for failure. There are so many other foods worth having like the bagels rather than a Philly cheesesteak in nyc.
Urban fee, that’s the first time I’ve heard of that one.
Very cool stuff. No helicopter ride. Hehe hehe 😅
You forgot one more thing to do in New York. Visit Madison Square Garden (MSG), The World’s Most Famous Arena.
Another great video Kym! It certainly deserves more than 1.4K likes after 22K views. Come on Fans, hit that like button PLEASE.
Yes, Terry speaks the truth.
And you can also play piano!!! Wow. Is there anything you cannot do Kim???😂
Kym I was all on board with all these videos until we hit the anchovies...
ha ha
Since the Imola race is cancelled, its too bad you couldn't stay in the states this weekend and attend the North Wilkesboro NASCAR All-Star race. It's probably too late to get credentials and find lodging. This will be an epic weekend with so many hall of fame drivers in attendance.
Love your videos. Born and raised in New York in Tarrytown/ Sleepy Hollow. Home of the Headless Horseman. With that said. If ever in NY again. Skip NYC and head north to Saratoga Springs and then to Lake Placid.
barstool!
10 things to do for me:
1. Meet Kym Illman.
2. Nothing else.
Enjoy the long break which is rare in F1
Hi kym
When getting a cheesesteak, don’t give in to the temptation to be fancy, just go with American cheese. Gives you the sauciness that you were looking for and helps temper the saltiness a bit IMO
No a proper Philly cheese steak comes with Whiz or provolone and it is best in Philly at Pat's.
Excuse me American cheese?? The only place on this planet i've ever seen that is at IHOP, not very good advice here.
@JedStrogan someone who has lived within 20 miles of Philly their entire life.
@@ericboyle8296 lol
Someone has been watching Davey pageview reviews
👊😎
When snoop dog brings your luggage to your hotel room. Then you have scored the best hotel
😂
That urban fee sounds like bs. Should be disclaimed upfront. As always a lovely video Kym!
I am piano major student living in Indiana Bloomington. Are there any places you can recoomand me your special places in New York?
I was wondering how you'd gotten do much better 9:26🤣
Still going to Imola?!
Expect pickle ball to be added to the olympics for older "athletes".
Good place to kill a few days until the end of the month for Indy 500.
So sad for the people in the Imola area with the flooding and loss of the F1 race this year. Surprised you are not yet talking about this as they cancelled it days ago.
Never order a Philly cheasteak outside of Philly...lol... Nothing like the original.
Comme par hasard d'après la source, un italien encore aidé par un français et il appela cette ville nouvelle Angoulême région de Poitiers...
Oh, one other thing. Almost a $100 for a cab ride to midtown? Are you daft? Take the ripoff AirTran to Jamaica (those bastards charge 8 bucks for that ride) and the LIRR to Penn Station. About fifteen bucks and half the time.
Not with the luggage we had
@@KymIllman fair enough. You weren't ripped off by the way. That's the fare. Which is why I always take the train.
Central Park is a lot more than 340 acres.
Yeah those fees are ridiculous, ours call it resort fee, destination fee. 🤷♂️
the 9/11 memorial museum is amazing and heart breaking. The 1 world trade centre view was dissapointing. Spend your $$$ on a Top of the Rock and/or Empire state visit instead with outside views. Lots a places now have tripod bans. Is it for safety or they just dont want you to get banging city night scape shots thinking you will make money out of it?
that naked dog is disappointing... got to get all the stuff
$66 urban fee... that sounds like something about which Louis Rossmann would have a vocal opinion!
That's why he left us. Scams like that.
NEVER get a cheesesteak outside of Philly! And if it's called a philly cheesesteak.... it ain't a good one
KYM, next time skip the sitdown pizza restaurants, GO to institutions like Joe’s, Artichoke, or best yet a $1 slice place.
this guy travels to all the 22-23 races everywhere taking business/first class flights, staying in expensive hotels/apartments for extended amount of time, goes to expensive restaurants and thinks new york is expensive to stay
