Hey Cecil, you definitely give the vibe of the guy who runs a mom-and-pop VHS rental store in the 90s who literally knows all about the movies they sell - you'd definitely be a cool and chill guy to spend hours just talking to without renting a single tape!
We had a lady who ran one in my town called Shirley. Everyone in town got her recommendations. That's how we all became aware of The Gods Must Be Crazy and other wacky titles. She also remembered your late fees at least 7 years later after you moved away.
There actually is a movie that during a full eclipse the werewolf is invulnerable to silver bullets called "Full Eclipse" staring Mario Van Peebles. I think the full movie is still here on CZcams.
Oh man, Radioactive Dreams. What a blast from the past. I remember one drunken weekend in Okinawa 12 or 13 years ago doing a double feature in the barracks with this and Six String Samurai.
I saw Blood Beach in a bit of a flea pit cinema in Southport, England. We were confused in the second act, until we realized that the projectionist had got the 2nd and 3rd reels mixed up. The line "What colour were your girlfriend's eyes?" still gets a giggle out of me.
I remember all the in-theater advertising and previews for 'Turk 182;' we went to movies every weekend, and it seems like I saw that preview a dozen times or more. And here I thought I was the only one who remembered '2020 Texas Gladiators.' I have it on VHS, but I haven't had a working VCR in about 15 years.

@@SupremeGreatGrandmaster Oh gosh - I ordered it when I first saw the movie so...the late 80s! Proyect Metal Beast sounds like like an amazing name of a metal rock band. Hopefully it gets a good re-release, there is another film that deserves a re-release is the 1995 horror film that really was inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing, Bob Keen's Proteus.

Also, many UK 4K discs are now thankfully being made region-free, a godsend for collectors who love the high quality of boutique labels across the pond. Thanks for spreading the word, Cecil! Keep it up!
Rented Blood Beach on VHS and just now it just occurred to me that they probably got the idea from something that I only have known about for a few years. The Bobbit worm is a sea creature that buries its long body in the sand with its jaws exposed and when a fish swims by it grabs them and pulls them under the sand.

I've never heard of almost all of these movies /TV shows (and honestly, i don't like bad movies), but I really enjoy your channel. I'm glad I discovered it
I’d like to see a Blu-ray release of the James Brolin movie “High Risk”. It has a pretty good cast and the plot has been retooled for other movies including “Triple Frontier” and “One Good Cop”. BTW, thanks for bringing up “Project Metal Beast”. I forgot about that movie and need to watch it. I just saw it’s on Tubi.
Finally a mention of blood beach. It’s awesome. I saw it on tv in the uk with my mom when I was young. I think when bbc2 would show horror movies once a week late. Great ending.
Saw Gymkata in the theater as a kid, love it still. Have the DVD but would kill for a Blu-ray. I’d add Survival Quest, Blood in Blood Out, Edge of Honor, Runaway, Something Wicked this way Comes, Summer Camp Nightmare, Threesome, Glory Daze, Heartbreak Ridge
The problem with the Nemesis release that you mentioned in the Radioactive Dreams section is that it doesn't include the old "director's cut" version that was only ever available on VHS and laserdisc. Instead, they have the terrible version where Pyun went back and added a bunch of cheap digital effects that ruin the movie, the original theatrical release with the awful voiceover that ruins the movie, and the Japanese cut that also has that voiceover. Three different versions on there, and the one version they don't have is the only good one.
gymkata and project metalbeast are real surprises to me and i thought radioactive dreams already was. well, just goes to show the blu ray restoration/preservation movement still has a lot to do, and i am fully onboard.
Awesome video. Never would of thought someone else would appreciate Radioactive Dreams and Turk 182. Our ripped VHS copies of those got worn out over the years growing up from showing them to others. haha.
Oh, believe me; 'Gymkata' is FAR from forgotten! It's even been referenced in such divergent areas as 'Venture Bros.' and in the pages of 'Toyfare' magazine! XD (LOL, but true!) Thanks for sharing the rest of them though; I'd never heard of those others! =)
Great video Cecil! I've seen 3/5 of these before, and I agree they need an update! I'm pleasantly surprised that 2020 Texas Gladiators is getting a 4K release, that's amazing!
Some real bangers on this list. Gymkata was recently covered by both The Horror Geek for his B-Movie Babylon podcast series (available off his main CZcams channel) and Jason Brant; the pommel horse scene is indeed hilarious, Richard Norton is a good choice as villain, and it really needs to be seen. Turk 182 is one I meant to see but Netflix stopped their physical media so who knows if I'll get to it, but it's a solid film. Blood Beach was one I checked out on CZcams a few years ago, saw the VHS at a local rental store as a kid decades ago, and I don't think it's actually bad but I found it hard to really like aside from being a bit different. Radioactive Dreams is one I'd probably really like, so hopefully I can see it in quality one day soon. But then we get to Project Metal Beast... I remember seeing this on the shelf at Blockbuster as a kid, wasn't allowed to rent it because it was a scary film. Eventually I caught it on TV and loved it (I mean, it's an armor-plated werewolf hunting doctors in a secret facility, what's not to love). Bonus points, it has Jason Voorhees! More bonus points, the title is a great name for a band! This definitely needs a hi-def release one day as a starter, and if we're really lucky a remake from a competent team whose studio actually understands schlocky monster flicks and doesn't interfere too much.
Great new list video, Cecil. yes Metal Beast definitely deserves a new blu ray release. I used to own it on vhs & watch it alot. its such a entertaining film. also Radioactive Dreams looks & sounds fantastic. I would definitely own that on blu ray too. :)
I rented Blood Beach back in the day. I was actually looking for movies similar to Tremors and discovered Blood Beach. It does need a blu-ray release. Same with Gymkata.
I would love to see a Blu Ray release for 1994s The Chase. Its dvd release is out of print and are $40+ when you can find them. No streaming and the only thing I can find on CZcams isnt in English. Its your standard dumb 90s TV background noise movie, but it has its charm like Airheads and Tommy Boy.
Man, way more people need to be giving credit to Ted Turner for being the first person really on top of the restoration of old films. It's what TMC was started for, that became AMC. Dude's responsible for at least five channels that are still on cable right now.
Everytime you make one of these i say damn i loved that movie growing up and then you say it was a bomb and my brain cant comprehend why since i saw it 25 times 😀
Would love to see a proper release of Mr. Frost. Wonderfully chilling horror movie with awesome Jeff Goldblum and the terrific Alan Bates. The opening sequence is a perfect start and more people should see this.
Thankfully the overlooked Trick Or Treat(1986) is finally getting a blu ray release soon with a ton of extras. It’s been a long time coming, mostly due to elements being missing for many years.
Well, that one website I normally check for these things had all except Project Metalbeast. Glad that one is on CZcams. I've not seen any of these, but maybe now I can finally get reference to that Gymkata running joke MST3K used. Anyways, thank you, enjoyed the video.
I swear there was a remake of blood beach or a movie who took extremely heavy inspiration from it it was on the Syfy channel and they had the dumbest thing happen. They couldn’t get into the trunk from the backseat of a new car. Well relatively new

i remember amanda and the alien, mainly for the army cook's big chest. and i think albert pyun's best works were arcade and dangerously close.
Robert Culp and Darren McGavin in the same movie? How have I not seen Turk 182??
I am 54 Years old nowadays and TURK 182 Is yet another Movie I got to see in theaters , As Well , Too.
I was shown Turk 182 by a babysitter back in the day and I loved it.
Turk 182 is one of my favorite less known 80's movie along with The Manhattan Project and My Science Project.
Huge props in general too both Shout Factory and vinegar syndrome for exactly this, and hey maybe some of them are watching your videos.
I always wanted to see Project Metalbeast and Radioactive Dreams. Good to know they’re worth my time if I get a chance.
Project Metalbeast is now on Tubi!
I'm surprised I have only seen two of these. More surprised Gymkata never got a bluray release :o
Was just thinking about the villagers from RE4 as you had brought it up lol
Gymkata is gold. I share with friends whenever the opportunity arises.
Gymkata would be freaking amazing!!! Perfect for Cauldron Films!!
Everytime you make one of these i say damn i loved that movie growing up and then you say it was a bomb and my brain cant comprehend why since i saw it 25 times 😀
I know the feeling. I'm always shocked when looking up certain films to find out they flopped hard upon release.
Hopefully by Halloween this year
Thank you Cecil for doing the lords work and getting the good word out there
:)
Radioactive Dreams is the one I've heard of and always wanted to see. I'm a sucker for the blend of sci-fi and noir tropes.
Well relatively new
Gymkata I thought was on DVD. I believe it was released by WAC. Hopefully they will release a Blu-ray soon.
