- The dinosaurs have produced some of the mightiest carnivores of all time, such as the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex. However, what if I told you, there might have been something bigger? Behold, one of the largest carnivores the world has ever seen! Giganotosaurus!
#JurassicWorldDominion #WorldDinosaurDay
I love how you used the footage from Beyond T-Rex and Dinosaurs of the Gobi!! I grew up watching these on tape! 😊
Ayyyyyyyeeeee based childhood
Pretty interesting back story for this large lad
Just another awesome Paleo Log video and of my 5th favorite dinosaur, and I love it
Also my favorite Giga in media is the Dinosaur King one
That one is one of my favorites too
It like having a land shark chasing u
This video was fantastic and would likely watch again but yeah Giga is one very awesome dino
And I wish yall are having a great day.
giga is cool but Rex is way more terrifying theropod
oh please, you would shit yourself regardless which one was around.
Not including the Ark giganotosaurus in the media/gaming section should be considered a crime against humanity.
Thinking fake-a-saurses ever existed should be a crime against humanity
Giganotosaurus was longer than T rex but it was more slender and weighed less than the T Rex.
❤
Very enjoyable .Well done .We recently viewed the casting of Lucy on display at the BC Museum in Victoria . It was very impressive. More impressive was the fleshed out life size model of Lucy in the room before you saw the Skeleton casting . Absolutely mind blowing and worth the price of admission alone .Truly a terrifying creature to faced .Cheers .😎🥃
I'm glad you said "casting" proving that it's nonsense
@@David-cv1seI’m not quite sure what you’re trying to say. Maybe you could clarify for me .
@@brutus4013 You didn't see a real "skeleton" you saw someone's casting hobby
@@David-cv1se You’re stating the obvious. It was a casting of the original. It doesn’t change the experience for people. Calling it someone’s hobby is strange but that’s your opinion . Many traveling exhibits are castings as the original’s are far too heavy and fragile to keep assembling and disassembling .
Bigger but not more dangerous
What u mean "not more dangerous"? Its literally faster than Tyrannosaurus
To be chased by Tyrannosaurus is far safer option for whole humanity than Giganotosaurus
Love the Dino Crisis music.
Overall, this video is a hit and miss that needs retouching in the future with more subtext, crediting, and citations.
And an admission that no one can physically prove fake-a-saurses ever existed
good show
10:33 That’s a theory mainly proposed for allosaurus. Giganotosaurus still had relatively small arms. Sure larger than tyrannosaurus, but still too small to be on much use in conflicts.
A better portrayal is BBC ‘Planet Dinosaur’ carcharodontosaurus fighting. Carcharodontosaurus arms were similar to giganotosaurus yet were ineffectual in actual conflict.
Soundtrack was a bit much. I couldn't wait for this video to end and I'm less inclined to watch others.
Nicely
Done
They seem like Allosaurus on steroids!
😂😅😂😅
My favorite dinos are Hypsilophodon (thanks The Isle), Allosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Coelophysis, Ceratosaurus, Troodon, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Anchiornis (cute), Torvosaurus. There is more but the list could goes almost to the infinite. Giganotosaurus was also a great carnivore that could have rivalled with T-Rex, Achrocantosaurus or Spinosaurus if they lived in the similar era and environment.
liked and subbed
... Size doesn't matter ... it's performance that counts - right ladies ?
After Seening the video, I think i have Gotten to like the Giga in JWD a bit more now.
Due to some studies, tyrannosaurus is actually larger than giganotosaurus in terms of mass and height, only weighting at 6-7 tons, pretty small compared to a large tyrannosaurus
Edit: still watching
Giganotosaurus' GDI mass estimates have bumped up a lot, around 7.7-8+ tons now. The holotype Giga is now slightly heavier than the holotype Tyrannosaurus. Yes, giants like Sue and Scotty exist; but they are hardly the average for T.rex and specimens like the holotype and Stan are closer to the norm for T.rex. Considering population demographics, it's most probable the holotype Giga is about average for its genus rather than an outlier.
@@Tarbtano but here's the thing, scotty and sue are both proof that a rex will certainly get bigger than that of a giga, sue being 9 tons and scotty being 11, that's pretty large.
@@Mr.Wetherilli reread what I just said.
There are many, many specimens of T.rex that are mature adults that are much smaller than Sue and Scotty, and smaller than the Giganotosaurus holotype. Using Sue and Scotty is using the absolute biggest T.rex compared to an average Giganotosaurus. Would that be any more fair than me comparing the Giganotosaurus holotype to the smallest adult T.rex?
There's multiple dozens of T.rex specimens, and only one somewhat well described Giganotosaurus specimen. In a scenario like that, it's most fair to use the average size for Tyrannosaurus and not the extremes.
@@Tarbtano isn't stan much bulkier and wider than a large giga? Don't get your point here
@@Mr.Wetherilli There is no 'large Giga' specimen. There's only really one which, based on fragmentary remains and teeth that are noticeably larger, is probably average for its kind.
Stan's most recent mass estimates using Python script integration formula and Graphic Double Integration methods is between 7,500 and 7,750 kilograms. This is almost exactly the same as the lower estimates for the Giganotosaurus holotype by Folkes at 7,600 kilograms. More midline estimates like those using the GDI and Python modeling methods, and using the formula and the Larramendi method for theropod mass correction put the Giganotosaurus holotype between 7,900 and 8,200 kilograms.
Stan is probably wider, but a very large portion of T.rex's big barrel chest is composed of air cavities and chambers similar to those seen in birds because it is much more closely related to birds than it is to carnosaurs. This means the huge chest is a bit deceptive when it comes to conveying actual mass. Carcharodontosaurids like Giganotosaurus also had much taller vertebrae and dorsum muscles than Tyrannosaurs, which added a lot of weight to balance things back out.
So the Giganotosaurus holotype is either roughly the same size as your moderately above average Tyrannosaurus like Stan, or it is slightly larger.
This also goes without mentioned the huge number of specimens like AMNH 5027, Duffy, Wrex, Thomas, Black Beauty, MOR 008, the Wankel Rex, and about a dozen other adult tyrannosaurus specimens noticeably smaller than Stan or either smaller than or the same size as the holotype.
Good background music,👍🏻😉
Giga babies are funny in ark lol
My only take away from this video is t-rex , giga & spino are competitors for “giant predator dinosaur” haha
XD honestly it's not a bad take away since it's pretty much synonymous with Giga's identity at this point
@@OmegaPictures318 that kinda suck because people don't care that much about the other amazing features it had
@@GlobalWarmingDragon dinosaurs are great but this kinda who is the biggest preador ruined it, its to toxic like megalodon !
Giganotosaurus was not bigger than Tyrannosaurus.
10.1 tonnes vs 11.7(+) tonnes.
I agree and after looking at the displays Sue is bigger then Giga and now we have bigger T-Rexes then that.
@66Traveler99no, not at all really:
Tyrannosaurus largest length is 13.13 meters, 4.1 meters at the hip and 11.7+ tonnes
Giganotosaurus largest length is 13.5 meters, 3.7 meters at the hip and 10.1 tonnes.
do prosaurolopgus please 😀😀😀😀😀😀
I'll put it on the list :)
thank you
I'm hear to learn more about magmatron.
19:37 i would love to hear how this is the most accurate Giganotosaurus so far when it doesnt look like Giga at all,
even looking more like hybrid between Acrocanthosaurus and Concavenator
Because its not a very high threshold, and Dominion isn't the only Giganotosaurus in media not to use 90s skeletals for its reconstruction or head swapping with Allosaurus, hence the "up to date skeleton wise"
I Have A Question Can You Make A Video About Brygmophyseter Shigensis?
Added to the list ☺️
@@OmegaPictures318 Cool!
A nice video, but still lacking a lot of info in my eyes👀.
What’s 1:53 from?
Isn't there about 20 million years between Giganotosaurus and T Rex? Different times, different place, different enviroment... God I hate the Jurassic World franchise lol
I thought it was pronounced “jig-a-note-asaurus”?
Its either or tbh. I even slip up and use the two pronounciations
I was gonna say the same thing, but I say it like how the paleontologist who discovered it which is pronounced Jig-a-note-asaurus. However, I don't think it's much of a big deal
it is giga like in gigabytes, as it is "large southern lizard" giga-notos-saurus from greek
True, but I just wanna say, the person who named the genus uses the "jiga" pronounciation, which is why I tend to use it interchangeably
Most likely due to the discoverer being a spanish speaking person.@@OmegaPictures318
There were no "larger tyrannosaurus skeletons" than sue discovered later. Sue is already bigger than the G. carolinii holotype. In dozens of T. rex skeletons, the only one found that is (slightly) bigger than sue is Scotty, and that's only 2% larger.
That known giganotosaurus specimens aren't bigger than the largest T. rex also wasn't a realization catalyzed by the description of scotty, but rather brought on by the GDI estimates Scott Hartman made for sue back in 2013.
The animal inhabited this part of the planet 100 to 105 million years ago, in the secondary era of the lower middle Cretaceous period. In length it measured about 15 meters, the height of the hip was 4.60 meters and -upright- up to the head it was about 8 meters.
It is estimated that its weight did not reach 10 tons; according to the latest calculations, its tare weight was 9,500 kilograms.

Fake-a-saurses
Read the following word, gigantic.
How do you pronounce it?
OK, now redo your video.
I’ll still be here for the next one and appreciate all the content nonetheless🙏🏽
Cheers!
Read the following word: gigabyte. How do you pronounce it? Jigabyte? No, it is giga. Go back to school.
Still haven't given to some paleoartists, I see.
Bruh you need to chill, I credited the artists I could find credits for
It isn't hard searching for these images on Google and eventually finding the name(s) of the artist(s). And since I'm a part of your channel now, playing "none the wiser" goes against morals conducting the right choices and further sets a poor example while discrediting other artists such as Robert Walters and Fabio Pastori. You know, the two world-renowned Paleoartists you failed to credit--among others?
@@OmegaPictures318 Also, you put little effort to credit some artists because their names were already watermarked. Just do better and you won't have to hear the Copyright complaints.
Don’t really think crediting really matters that much man
