    I’m right there with you about the focusing, but that lens is so good.

    The reason your first frame was like that is because the film was not aligned, you should align the arrow to the middle dot in the film loader. 😉

    In my humble opinion, your first frame wasn't screwed up by light leak but because you didn't align the film in the correct position, the start arrow on the film back should be aligned with the middle arrow on the camera. Great video by the way !

    Focusing with the rangefinder is improved thanks to the Nikon DG-2 magnifier, perfectly compatible with the eyepiece thread.

    Really nice, I think 3:41 is my favorite. 5:47 is amazing too! I recently aquired a GS645 (folder) and it's been such a pleasure to shoot.

    The older ones (G690, GL690) have a bigger rangefinder patch. They are easier to focus.

    Not a light leak… pretty common for the first frame, especially if you try to push the # of shots per roll

    Love your video, thanks. I've been telling myself for a while that I need (as in really don't need cos I've got about a hundred already) a new (old) camera. The GS645s may be it. I've got several 6x6 mf cameras, but no 645. So that's a reason, right?

    Great video! Cut yourself some slack on the RF focusing. I think the lens might not focus close enough for that dog photo to be in focus.

    Use the lenses hyperfocal where practical. Nice vid Jesse.

    I am a huge fan of the Fuji 645 cameras, both GS (manual) and GA (autofocus/exp), and own several. However I exclude the GS645S from such praise and would not recommend it to others because of its fragile focusing mount. Even a modest tap to the front of the lens can break the focus mechanism with no possibility of repair. Consider a GA645 (same lens) as an alternative. Otherwise, another outstanding video of images.

    • @JesseJosephh
      @JesseJosephh  Před 4 lety

      Randall Stewart thank you!! I agree with you there! It’s such a fragile camera, I’m not sure what they were thinking when making it haha. Lightweight is 👍🏼 Durability is a hard 👎🏼

    • @randallstewart175
      @randallstewart175 Před 4 lety

      @@JesseJosephh The GS series build is light but very solid, being an alloy frame with policarbonate outer panels. The poli (plastic) used in the focusing mount of the GS645S is unique to that model. It was fine when new, but with time it has become brittle and breaks with even modest impact. The wide version, GS534W, is just a fancy box camera with no rangefinder - very tough. The GS645 (folder) is quite robust for a folder, but its original bellows were plastic, not leather, and self-destruct. With super optics, they are incredible travel cameras for their light weight and small size.

    You’re not horrible at RF focusing... you were just too close to your subject! Typically with RF the minimum focus distance is a lil farther away. Try staying back at least 1 meter or look up the camera specs ;-) cheers
