      1) average player missing stuff like nameplate colors.. that helps alot to visualise what the mob does. or which iare the important mobs of a pack
      2) affix specifc utility: yes you can use real reduce classes/speccs + talents, hunter pets.. for sanguine.. yes you can double freedom talents on entangling (or to perma speed uf priest, dk).. a handy overview for every affix and best classes to handle it.. like sanguine knock back / grips...
      3) keep a mix (its not healthy to bring 5 meele or 4 range casters.. esp on this affix, dungeon, because X .. also mention the interrupt CD or the lack of interrupts on combos like balance+resto druid or heal priest
      4) keep a mix but enhance syncergy.. like meele comb with warrior+monk and a hunter ! same for caster combo + DH
      5) dont look at META.. esp when ur not a lvl 25key andy.. bring the outstanding player on any class they play (how to see it.. rio: m+ score. raid score.. raid logs)
      6) nameplate colors AND dungeon packs (esp with soundpack) are a great way to learn passivly the dungeons :)
      7) little wigs for boss timers in dungeons (and how to edit them to your needs -> colors, sounds for the things YOU need to remind of)
      8) smol video series about every class what they can do in current season in which dungeons (outplays) like immunitys, reflects, skips, affix handling, best synergys

    Great guide!
I think something I have always found difficult is the way that required tactics "change" once you hit certain keystone levels, and finding guides for those specific bits can be difficult - most guides cover the dungeon as a whole, and might be enough to see you through to 15's/KSM/etc. But quite often you find that once you get into the 16-20 range of dungeons the jump up in damage means suddenly certain mechanics that were previously not dangerous enough to worry about are party wipers.
This can be both certain boss mechanics, or even trash abilities suddenly getting dangerous. Yet players who are already doing those higher levels of keys simply expect people to know how to deal with it, but if you ask about the mechanics, they say to go to such and such YT video, which doesn't actually cover the problematic mechanics, as those videos are often made detailing +8s on the PTR where the mechanics aren't a worry yet etc.

Fury you have a ton of self healing, but should absolutely be rotating your plethora of defensives. Spell reflection is massive and if done right gives a ton of extra dps as well.
Plus you can save the group with rally & save yourself tons of headaches by using enraged regen and just swapping to defensive stance.

    Great stuff!
I'm sure you did something on that but worth mentioning: Season 2 weak aura + plater profil with mob health colored depending on the type (has a cast to interrupt, gotta focus/dangerous, normal mob)
As a returning player, this helped le greatly pick up and start learning.
But as you said there is no shortcut to game knowledge. Getting betting implies watching a 1h indepth guide of a particular dungeon. Like a walkthrough with every mob ability and mechanic.
As you said also, learning other spec strenght and weakness.
Also setting up UI/macros to be as efficient as possible. Keybinding etc. Can't build something strong on a wonky base.

Our group usually let the Bracken Warscourge do it's spin. We've all got good attack range and (usually) a semi-functioning braincell to avoid the circle.
It means less damage on the tank since when it's not spinning, it's actively attacking the Tank pretty hard, and gives us time to focus the Speaker.

Another good tip for the casts that require quick reaction time to stop, that can be a little challenging to hit, is to track them with timers. The avalance in NL, Dark Echoes in underrot etc. If you know the cast is coming in 3 seconds that allows sufficient time to prepare and preemptively move or hold your global

I would REALLY appreciate a video on proper mythic and raid positioning. When should a ranged caster be way behind the group? Up tight with the mobs? In front of the pathing? When should a melee be beside the tank, to one side of the mobs, behind the mobs? How do affixes change this? (Hint and a half: melee should almost never be behind the mobs on Sanguine week!) That sort of thing.

    • @ronaldwestbeal2269
      @ronaldwestbeal2269 Před 11 měsíci

That requires you to know what the mobs do and what healer your playing with etc if your playing with a hpal be near the beacon target so you get their mastery if your playing with a r sham try to group at least mid range near teammates so chain heal hits properly. some bosses/mobs have mechanics that specifically target the furthest person away (ranged) and you’ll learn to bait these mechanics to your self so your healer or other people don’t gota deal with them

Why not talk about how group compositions, specifically the utility brought by specific classes and how to work with them, are formed and how to form them? I remember back in shadowlands as an arcane mage that every once in a while, I'd be in Plaguefall with a specific group comp that made handling the small slimes almost an impossibility, and how it felt really bad to be having trouble with them just because of the classes we're playing.

i think a very good topic for a guide would be healers' CD rotation for difficult fights.
perfect example would be Resto Shaman And hyrja in HOV.
her Storm was 1 min CD . as Rshamn you could have a rotation of
    storm 1: AG (ancestral guidance)
    storm 2: Ascendance
    storm 3: AG
Storm 4: Spirit Link + Mana Tide ( with talent that buffs chain heal)
So now no matter how many storms you get . you never run out of cooldowns , only mana
Most fights should be dealt with that approach as a healer and a guide to recognize these patterns will be very helpful in my opinion

as a Holy paladin that pugged its way through Season 1, HoV was what made me throw the towel. I managed to +20 it once but I got flamed to death for doing low hps because I was splitting my cd's when the party didn't apply their defensive cd's. Communication would have made the whole thing easier but if you start asking questions the party leader gets nervous and kicks you out (happened to me more than once).
The advice of sticking with a team would be the most important one. At the end of the day you can only pug yourself out of the retard zone but you can't pug yourself into higher keys.

Loved the video. I'd like to share a pain point that is personal. The last boss in Naltharus. 1. Should all DPS kill the add as fast as possible? 2. I have a really hard time surviving the flame swirls during shield phase while using the dungeon ability. What advice can you or anyone else give that would be constructive?

    • @blackmaster1566
      @blackmaster1566 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hey!
      1. I wouldn't focus the add. There are 2 reasons for that:
      - The timer is relatively tight for Neltharus, so you can't lose uptime on the boss.
      - The add can be cc'd and cleaved down by most classes. I am a spriest, so i dot the add and go back on the boss every time.
      2. In that moment, there are a lot things happening.
You'll want to have the ability already and not go looking for it seconds before the shield phase.
There's a lot of damage going out, so it feels like everything is exploding around you.
The first thing to do is to take a deep breath and focus on dodging the swirlies. Try to see patters/bait the swirlies.
The second thing is that most of the abilities can be precast when the shield's cast time is half done, that way you do your job and can dodge swirlies/dps boss even better.
Another thing i would recommend is the following : If you have the ability that throws you to the boss, do not rush to use it.
Wait a bit for the swirlies to clear, because the tank is unwillingly spawning them onto the boss.
I would say that the hardest one to play around is the AOE Flower around you. Just like with the one that throws you into the boss, don't rush it..dodge swirlies until you find a good spot to maneuver in.
TL;DR -> stop dpsing the shield until you are comfortable with the mechanic itself.
For us, average players, we can do only 1 thing to perfection :
      - You either master the mechanics and concentrate on the rotation
      - Or you master the rotation, to the point you can do it blindfolded, so that you can focus on mechanics.

@@ronaldwestbeal2269 I mean sure, I wouldn't expect a 3 hour video of every single pull in every dungeon but there are def trash pulls and boss mechanics that I think are worth mentioning or like a video describing what to look for when your dbm/wigs goes off or if you get targeted in a fight. With your philosophy, all these videos are pointless because most thing's can be learned through trial and error. It took me figuring out as a Dracthyr DPS that I needed to stop my dps from time to time to heal others as well as myself in order to properly succeed in the higher keys I needed in order to get this season's keystone master. Even then there was still a lot I didn't know about some things, not knowing those things and only not knowing is why I wasn't able to get keystone master sooner, not being able to practice in higher keys definitely didn't help.

Damage inflicted upon the group should move away from the "you did this mechanic wrong, take more damage" idea and more toward "you did this mechanic wrong, so here's a way to punish you specifically based upon what role you are". This would achieve two things: 1) Everyone would learn mechanics because dps would get immediate feedback that they did something wrong because the punishment would affect them directly and would force them to care (damage output loss, for instance) as opposed to just losing health and letting the healer pick up that slack. and 2) dps failing a mechanic would no longer punish someone else (the healer). Naturally, there would be less damage taken doing this, so you would increase the amount of unavoidable damage. This would allow the damage to be tweaked to a specific point where healers a) are having fun because it's not too stressful and b) are needed (you can't be so good at mechanics that you avoid so much damage that you end up taking 4 dps instead).

that is wrong. The healer's primary responsibility is to keep people "healthy" which include healing *unavoidable* damage, dispelling dangerous magic effects (some dps classes can also help with that) and helping with crowd-control. Their secondary responsibility is to contribute additional damage either by buffing their dps' dps, or just doing damage themselves.

this is why i get annoyed in pug raids when they "trim" the dps as the raid progresses... there's a lot of reasons why a dpser's damage might be low... like when i, a ret paladin, have to stop dps on the last experiment guy to keep the heal ball away from him because the mages and hunters refuse to do it... or when they ignore the little soak they're standing right next to on magmorax so i have to break off dps and go stand in a soak out of melee range while the mage just keeps frostbolting his ass off like an idiot. or when the tanks fuck up wall breaks on neltharion so i have to go stand next to one when i get the purple arrow to save the damn raid.
low dps is very rarely the fault of the dpser in endgame content.
