  • Sick of seeing every top 5 list just consist of "stick together", well here are some actual PRACTICAL tips you can implement right now to prevent wipes and a little bit of meme doggin thrown in for good measure.

Got some tips of my own:
    0. Along with the settings you spoke about also up the brightness.
    1. Always turn around and see whats behind you every 5 seconds. Almost like you have Tourettes and randomly found a massive gold bar on the street in a bad neighbourhod.
    2. Always check your allies position, like you have separations anxiety.
    3. The rule of 2! Never be alone and never let anyone be alone.
    4. Tag everything! I'm seriously considering rebinding my left mouse to also be tag.
    5. Block, push, then melee a bit, then block, push. Throw in a dodge now and then, as dodges makes the enemies miss their attacks. As in they stop tracking you and swing where you were instead. If you just move left and right they will move with you while swinging. Here is some incentive: In Vermintide when an enemy is staggered from something you did they take increased dmg, here that seem to be the case too.
    6. Ranged enemies stop being ranged enemies as you close the distance into melee, they can also be suppressed and forced to duck in to cover. Zealot and Ogrim can make awesome work with this knowledge.
    7. Enemies have armor, just don't attack em where they are armored. Maulers for example need to be attacked in the belly, not the head. You can test all of this out in the training room.
    8. If you don't know the location of grims and scriptures, just ignore em for now. There are some guides out there but they are not conclusive yet. Check em out and use them rather then spending an hour of your party's time to look around for them. For you who have a thing to get them it's great, for the rest of us you are just wasting our time. it's 200xp-ish. just ignore unless you know.
    9. Bosses can be rushed down quite quickly so attack with fervor and smash their bloody skull in! it's only a problem if people ignore and run away from them and go for the endless hordes. Yes you as a vet should not run away from the boss, be ready to melee the shit out of it the moment you run out of ammo.
    10. When it comes to gear I assume the power of the gear functions similarly to Vermintide. So higher power means higher dmg, BUT just because you don't have your highest power weapon equipped does not mean you will not be able to gain higher power gear. It should be like in Vermintide that it counts teh highest gear that has been added to your inventory. But it also seem to just be a level thing. So don't stress it and use the weapon that you find most effective for the build you got going for u.
    11. Do bring different weapons for different situations. Mostly just one to deal with hordes/multi targets, and one to deal with armor/single target nuking. You wanna know why you are using what weapons, and ofc you first need to know how they funciton but this should be your goal.
    12. Learn the tricks of each melee. For example you all know the axe is kind of shitty at dealing with many enemies right? But the push attack is amazing at doing just that. Esp. if you swing your view around as if you are playing chivalry.

Good video! One tip I'll add for Psyker to mirror your opinion on the flamethrower- *use the Surge Force Staff.*
Seriously. You can shock bulwarks into dropping their shields, stop mutants mid-charge or make them drop someone, same with hounds. You can stop poxbursters from blowing up [a little zap, even if they're already jumping, entirely stops their detonation]. You can stun reapers, maulers, ragers. Everything except monstrosities and assassination bosses.
It's extremely OP. Probably going to get nerfed, but I'm going to abuse it while it's good. It makes Heresy runs so much easier [even if I've yet to sin one, it's helped me get really close several times].

    • @Mr-Kitty

I'm not sure I'd call it "OP" personally. If it did more damage then maybe, but right now as a staff to support and control then I think it's good. It does no where near the damage of some veteran weapons and on higher difficulties I found the staff paired well with a good team, or even a decent team. Bad teams would die despite having one or multiple of these staves. I think the staff is fine considering the power of some weapons on other classes. (I ran Psyker main, then ogryn and some vet in pre-order beta)
I'd say "Over powered" would be if it stunned enemies AND did a ton of damage on top of it, while for me the damage seemed middling. But this is all on opinion from me. XD I'm no game dev like many people who levy their opinions. (Not a slight toward anyone in saying that.) I'm just hoping that all classes feel fun and all weapons are viable in gameplay (Lore be damned) and that no one feels undervalued because of their weapon choices. I'm sure everyone can agree that hoping the game remains fun overall is a good mindset.

@@Mr-Kitty Since the 8 days ago I made that post- I have to agree with you, yeah. I've actually seen a lot of usage in every single staff in the game. Trauma, admittedly, gets outclassed pretty quickly, since the AoE explosion right-click isn't exactly fantastic [albeit not bad], but the other three? *Man* are they good.
Surge, as I said, has amazing CC. God-tier CC. Although, I suppose with a good team that kills specials fast and on-callout, it's value is reduced slightly. Still very good.
Void is apparently a beast. Haven't used it much, admittedly, but I've seen Psykers tear through hordes with it, and it looks damn good. It also has the standard LMB for the force staff, which I honestly think is amazing. 1-tapping troopers [at least, on Malice, idk for the other 2] is very useful.
Purgatus quickly became my favourite. I thought it sucked at first, but when I put on Kinetic Flayer and started focusing on Warp Weapon damage, *man* is it good. Amazing at horde melting, amazing against non-armoured enemies- and imo the coolest attacks.
I've not had the chance to play anything but Psyker and Sharpshooter yet- but every single class in the game rn feels exceptionally well balanced. My friend thinks Ogryn needs to be a little bit better [he doesn't like that not using the shield in Heresy+ just makes you worse off], but I think all the classes are fantastic.
Fatshark really blew it outta the water with Darktide. Can't wait to hop back into this game on the 30th.

@@cherrysoda4462 Voidstrike is quite satisfying, but as you go higher into difficulty 4 and such the CC of surge can be life saving. I'd say voidstrike is the best until past malice (dif-3) then surge's utility begins to shine despite the damage. Purgatus is good, not my flavor for staffs but I can understand the power. I just like having the feedback which the flame staff doesn't offer much, just a wall of blue-white fire and everything is mostly dead where you were pointing. I never used it much past malice though so idk it's worth there... and I abandoned trauma quickly.
Surge seems to have a hidden value against flak armored enemies (dregs can resist it more than scabs which were flak armor it seems and I had no bonuses against either group on my staff.) so killing groups of armored enemies was easier than hordes or groups of unarmored / unyielding foes. But the worth is definitely in the stun that lets your allies shoot past bullwark shields, lets you stun mutants and any other specials.
I can't wait to play tomorrow and I'm quite curious if they plan to re-tune anything between the last day of the pre-order beta and release. But I'm sure I'll enjoy it no matter what. I wish you luck when you play again, and hope you have fun in it as well, friend. Give void more of a go if you play malice alot, nothing more satisfying than throwing a fully charged bolt down a narrow hall of enemies in my experience. XD

    • @cherrysoda4462
      @cherrysoda4462 Před rokem

@@Mr-Kitty I usually play Malice, since I find that randoms on Heresy just don't seem to play well [unfortunately this is also kind of true for malice but it's a new game so I'm surprised]. Voidstrike is definitely something I'll need to give another ago, it seems like a good horde clearing build that doesn't need too many feats to worn like Purgatus. The main value of Soulblaze for me is the fact that even on Heresy, one burst to a basic enemy will eventually build up enough to kill them. People tend to leave enemies behind for some reason, and the unexpected chip damage can get annoying.
Surge *does* actually seem very effective against anything armoured. A godsend for Maulers, Crushers, etc. The utility of the staff is something I cannot praise enough- the ability to stun enemies has saved my teammates many times, and even myself a few.
I think when we get the game back tomorrow, we might get a larger arsenal or some balanced toys to play with, since I'm fairly sure that they haven't yet added all of the weapons they intended to. Part of me wishes the Force Sword wasn't outperformed by the Power Sword in terms of utility, but everything else on Psyker is just amazing rn. They really made it feel powerful.
Genuinely wish there was some way to scale brain burst though. Being unable to one shot dogs on Heresy without warp charge is a scary thing.

Got my first purple gun yesterday, was one of those cool chargeup lasrifles so I was stoked to try it out cus I never seen one before. Hopped into a mission and THE ENTIRE MISSION WAS FOG! Deep, assholeian fog that refused to let me see more then 20m ahead. I tried to turn it off in which case it's all just a visual green barrier that looked so much worse I have to turn it back on so my brain could understand what was going on. Why, is there fog inside a superstructure??? I get the open spaces but in the corridors, hallways? THE ELEVATORS???? I'm playing a vet here... I'm all ranged and I got a new longranged gun and the only time I see the enemy is when they try to melee me! It was like a kick in the balls.

I actually disagree with flamethrower being op. Yes, it can melt hordes and maybe the range is too much, but you can do the same using your melee or a grenade without cutting the line of sight of your teammates. I would rather use something that can deal with range units, because those are usually the most dangerous in darktide. Or using the long range weapon while dropping a heal on the ground and keep position during a boss fight. For this task, I think that the boltgun is the best. One shot, one kill on any range unit, maybe 2 shots on some armored elites. That can also shread bullets in a horde on fully automatic mode (a.k.a. spray and pray). Another good option would be any autogun, especially Agripinaa MK I, it has insanely strong firepower, and if your aim is decent, you can deal with any long range threat.
