- Cairo can be overwhelming, which is why it's nice to know that there's a good option if you need to give yourself a break for a few hours. Al-Azhar Park is the green lung of Cairo, with masterfully landscaped gardens and fountains, and it's only a short walk away from the citadel.
It's one of the best places to experience a call to prayer, as it echoes through the entire city, through every street, from every direction around you. And way off in the distance, you can just make out the pyramids, and they just seem to be looming over the city like guardians over Cairo. What a powerful experience!

The real thing is so touching. Gotta be there to feel the powerful experience
It is amazing! I was in the same place today and listened to it. Superb!
Superb ... you have really captured some of the magic of Cairo. The cacophonous, and captivating, call-to-prayer is a key part of that.
That was an awesome analogy with the Pyramids and call to prayer (Azhan) combined. As a full Egyptian born and raised in Northern California, I am super interested in hearing the opinions of Non-Egyptian Americans visiting Egypt - the good opinions, the bad, and the ugly (if any!)

This call to prayer remind me of the 3hebrew boys
That call is the imam ordering at the McDonald's drive-thru...."Praise be to Allah! A Big Mac, large fries and a Coke...."
