This is incredible! I especially love the variety of instruments; there's so many different layers to listen to.
A lively group of minstrels are performing and you revel in their exotic tunes as you unwind from a rough day in the brotherhood. You've finally been recognized by your seniors and it's been a long time coming. You celebrate by ordering ale but just as you raise the tankard to your lips a gloved hand _slams_ onto the table. You see a burly, aggressive, and slightly vacant glare when you look up from your seat. It's a huge unpleasant looking fellow. "Yer lot ain't welcome here, peasant. Ye should learn yer place. I'm kind enuf to teach ye, git out. I'll beat it into ya!" He spits onto the floor. Charming.
You sigh and stand, adjusting your tunic underneath your breastplate. The huge star on it should have told him everything he needed to know. Peasant or not, that didn't matter to the knighthood you were with. They accepted squires based purely off of merit. Anyone could try for placement each year. This man must've been rejected. Pride hurt, he has chosen the 'easiest' target.
You calmly walk out, holding up a reassuring hand to the old man who owned the inn.
You didn't want to cause a ruckus but it seems this was a calculated challenge as you see many more men appear from the dark alleys. You feel revulsion.
You draw your sword and feel slight relief as you notice some of your other brothers in arms have arrived. Just in time.
You all charge in at once. The sheltered lesser nobles' sons didn't stand a chance against your disciplined attack.
They flee. Celebrating your swift victory you shout "Praise the sun!" as your brothers raise their arms in joy. "Praise the sun!" they echo back. You head back together in jubilant exultation. ☀️
