I was on the fence about this rollerball pen but I think I may get it now. Thanks for the in-depth review!

What? Rollerball that takes ink? :o I need one in my life right now!

I love that shop as well! Thank you for showing how to fill this pen. Someone else did it with a syringe and I didn’t have one

These inks are sometimes surprising and mysterious aren’t they?!… btw…i did try out the new hobonichi paper for 2024…seemed really nice to me …very similar to the old 😉-although I didn’t conduct any thorough scientific experiments on it! Those rollerball pens are interesting-

Oh good, about the Hobonichi! I took a break from Hobonichi for three years and tried bullet journaling in Leuchterm notebooks. This year I bought a Techo... it's just easier!

That pen has a breather hole on the rollerball part like a fountain pen would. You can actually fill it just fine with the nib piece/grip section on
At least it looked like it had one in videos/pictures Ive seen on reddit
Edit: I received mine and yes, that is the case. You can fill it as you would a fountain pen, don't even have to take the grip section off. Pilot Iroshizuku seems to work best in this pen as well as writing on a flat surface instead of with a notebook in your lap. Mine was scratchy at first but I switched to the other ink and flat surface and now it is smooth and doesn't skip. Next I'll try FWP, Sailor, Diamine and Pelikan since those are relatively popular. I'll keep you updated on what inks work if I remember to.
Update one: Diamine ink works great with it for the most part, just a few skips. For reference, I used Monboddo's Hat.
Update two: either ink stopped working nicely for me. I can't return the pen (it isn't worth the return shipping) so I think I'm going to turn mine into a franken pen and make it into a whole project. I think I'll try to remove the rollerball part and maybe 3d print a feed or see if something like Kaweco's sport one would fit in the pen (I'll probably have to 3d print one tho tbh) and then fit it with a kaweco nib since they're similarly sized. I think it could be an interesting project I'll have to try out with my dad.
If anyine likes this pen lmk your experience with it and if you've had better luck with other inks or had to adjust something on the pen to get it to write. Otherwise I'll be going ahead with my insane frankenpen idea.

I want to know about the Frankie pen!

I'm curious if you've ever used the Monteverde Engage? It's also a ballpoint that uses fountain pen ink. It's a retractable pen though so no cap and I've heard that it tends to dry out and be relatively unpleasant if not constantly written with. It's also almost four times the price of the Roundabout in your video. How does the Ferris Wheel Press pen hold up if not in use for a few days?

No, I have never heard of it. Too pricey for me for a ballpoint though. And so far so good! It gets used a lot though.
