Thatâs the big thing that draws me to the A1 over the A7S3. The dual native ISO kicks in sooner on the A1 and thatâs more likely where Iâll sit with my settings.

Love seeing your kids in the shots, I've got two as well (3 years old and 1 year old, both boys) and seeing your son have the same goofy explanation of things as my son is fantastic.
I'm not sold on the electronic zoom. Like you commented, having the physical stops on the zoom really is critical for knowing where you are in the zoom range. I feel just as lost with my electronic focus. However, where I think this lens will get a lot of love will be from gimbal shooters. A lens that can be fully controlled from the gimbal controls while not changing the balance point across the zoom range? Yes please.

It's obvious he never played with the much older APS-C 18-105mm PZ lens. Even the pancake zoom lens for APS-C cameras has that zoom rocker. It's great that now FF cameras have this feature. Great for playing around with recording video while zooming.

I hope this is the start of a smaller lighter PZ set of lenses from Sony. Imagine an F/4 lens trio featuring the 16-35, redesigned 24-105 and 70-200 f/4s that are all lighter more compact and have PZ. I would whole heartedly invest in that because I LOVE that PZ zoom look and just the flexibility of that.
Putting the zoom slider on the 70-200 F4 and F2.8 lens would be great as both zoom internally, just like the aps-c 18-105 F4 does. No one should complain about it until they try it out.

I still wonât give up my 18mm Samyang AF. Itâs a f2.8, lighter and smaller than the Sony. Optically no sacrifices, the AF works great, and less than $500. I was thinking about the Tamron 17-28, but itâs still so much bigger and heavier. I use a Sony 35mm f1.8 for the other end (another difficult lens to sell once youâve had it).
I still regret selling my 35...what a great lens with incredible macro mode..
There is a lot of hate for the 18mm but I too love mine, it is smaller/lighter than any APS-C lens while being full frame and fast. Amazing lens.

Tamron 11-20 f/2.8 is worth looking at. And for the price it's amazing!!
The rocker zoom reminds me of the old school zoom rockers of Sony Handicams from the late 90's early 2000's that recorded on mini discs.

Only thing I am disappointed for on this lens is the lack of OSS which will be greatly missed on my A7C if I went with this lens. The internal zoom etc is all epic and would suit my shooting locations much better but that lack of OSS... thats a pretty decent deal breaker for me. On the A7Siii its a different convo.
Doesnât the A7C bc have great internal stabilization and a geo data thing for stabilization
@@jokwonpope1561 I wouldnât call it great stabilization. Itâs good but not great for hand held vlog. And yes it does have the geo stabilization or whatever itâs called but it crops and adds to post production to stabilize all footage before use. Not ideal
I've been wanting the 16-35 gm but its so expensive and I was about to get the 17-28 tamron but I'm now indecisive lol. This lens looks great. The F4 is that holding me back a little bit. It's for vlogging I'm wanting it.
U dont need 2.8 for vlogging. And f4 is definitely enough for lowlight with how good new fullframe is at lowlight

BUT... no stabilization hurts the soul of vloggers that would otherwise love this lens even at f4.
No stab means I'll be 'content' with my $275 rokinon 18mm 2.8 for now. haha

The zeiss f4 with lens stabilisation better choice. I wonder why most of the G Masters don't have them. I understand the software based metadata stabilisation but surely not every project requires such stable footage, some just wants a non-gimbal looking stabilised shot

From what Ive seen the Sony cameras with active stabalisation seem to do a very good job.
I think zooms are coming back! Look at Tamron with their 35-150mm f2-2.8! Theyâve improved so much that I sold my primes for the Tamron 35-150 and 17-28mm!
Feel this, love my 24 and 85, but when there is no budget for switching setups, the 28-75 tamron never disappoints me

Hi Matti, have you considered the Tamron 17-28 F/2.8 Di III Rxd (mouthful) for vlogging? It is very compact, light, 2.8 and nice Zoom range for that purpose.
