KTM 990 Adventure ride Part 2 | Riding the Whipsaw Trail BC

  • Last August we planned a motorcycle camping trip to Princeton British Columbia to go and ride the Whipsaw Trail.
    The trail is an iconic 4x4 trail but it's also a lot of fun on most ADV | Dual Sport-bikes. My friend Chris is on his KTM 690 and I am on my KTM 990 Adventure R both loaded with camping gear.
    The traill was great, not too hard overall but had a few sections that challenged you. One being Falcon Hill, we rode the trail counter-clockwise so we could descend it rather than climb it. Next time we will try it the other way.
    Follow along to see how the ride went.

    Great video. You probably already know this, but I'll just mention it. If you get to a section like the one at 05:39, where you said you are basically unable to use your back brake, you can switch your bike off, put it in gear, and then use the clutch as a back brake for when you can't use your real back brake. I use this all the time.

      @@j-moto1215 Yes yes. Obviously many adventure bike riders never do THAT technical stuff. But me as an enduro rider utilize that a lot when I need both of my feet...

      @@johansmitphotography yes, good tip (I ride enduro as well) but the heavy bikes picking up momentum will easily restart the engine in gear. Even my 500EXC does it.

  • @ronanrogers4127

    The various Clake hydraulic left hand rear brakes make these descents so much easier on big Adv bikes precisely because you can easily put both feet down. They’re not cheap, but they transform the bike

    Looks like a battle! My t7 wouldn't be an "enjoyable" bike for that. I'd want a dirtbike style ripper i'd feel more in control with. I don't like to fight the entire trail. I appreciate the video to check out thistrail.

      @j-moto1215  Před 10 dny +1

      A friend of mine just did it on his T7 and he was solo. If you go counter clockwise it’s pretty manageable if you ride dirt bikes. Hope you enjoy the ride however you ride it 🤘
