Foxen Canyon....nice ride. The main micro-climates in SB Country are very good for growing grapes for Pinot Noir. Zaca Wineyards and others make outstanding Pinot Noirs.
There are also some Michelin star restaurants in Los Alamos, and I dare say: Matteis Tavern is a good place. The movie Sideways was filmed in what is now (renamed after the movie) the Sideways Hotel, it has a nice bar.
An absolute must for any biker within SB County is Cold Springs Tavern, Mavericks, and the Depot in Los Alamos.
A local hangout in SB county is Billiards in Santa Ynez. Solvang has some very good places to go. And of course for wine: LOS OLIVOS (every block has tasting rooms).
Good Roads to go biking on are: Foxen Canyon (Ballards Canyon too....although much shorter and single lane) and of course: Santa Rosa Road (bumpy and gets down to a single lane).
Najoqui Falls park off Alisal road is also a good place.
Near Santa Ynez the best breakfast place hands down: Ellens in Buellton. The best place for breakfast (better than Ellens: is American Host in Lompoc).
The Shamrock Bar in Lompoc is also a good place to grab a beer.
Foxen Canyon will take the rider from Santa Ynez up to Santa Maria. (note: if the rider wants a twisty one lane road that offshoots Foxen Canyon they can get off on Tepequet road: that will dump out onto Hwy 166. From there if they hang a left and head west they will run into Hwy 101.
At Cold Springs Tavern: MOST bikers show up on SUNDAY afternoons.
About 100 miles north of that area is Cambria a very good place to visit. (San Luis Obispo County)
The Palm Motel in Cambria is probably the cheapest place to stay.
Nearby Cambria is Paso Robles with a lot of good wine.
Best comment! Gonna pin this one so I can come back later. Sounds like you're a local. Thank you for taking the time to write this.
@@MattLaidlaw Thanks Matt. A nice way to ride into SB is to go up Hwy 33 from Ventura then take Hwy 150 around Lake Casitas, then onto Hwy 192 through Toro Canyon and Montecito. 192 turns into Foothill Rd which runs right smack into Hwy 154.
A good pit stop before going onto Hwy 150 is Deer Park Tavern in Ojai, or The Hut for a beer then doubling back down 33 and onto 150.
Some sharp turns on 192. (a nice stopping place off of 192 is the Santa Barbara Mission and next to it is the Museum of Natural History)
A twisty detour can be had off of 192 by going up El Cielito Rd: this turns into Gibralter road which goes by Gibralter Rock (a good place for rock climbing). Gibralter road hooks up to East Camino Cielo Rd. Hang a left onto E Camino Cielo and that will eventually run into Hwy 154 at the summit of San Marcos Pass. Like Tepesquet Rd. This route has some twisties.
Imagine growing up there being able to ride those roads 12 months out of the year before all the drunk tourists and not to mention the nice people from Hollywood that came and ruined it I am not bitter Lol for living in SB county for 50+ years I left close to ten years ago know I live where it snows in the winter thank you all you nice people that moved into that beautiful valley that know they call Los Alamos SY valley even tho it is it's own valley man I can go on for days thanks for discovering and ruining a beautiful place
@@Bostonterrier97 These are the local roads! I'm in Oxnard, we ride these roads as our weekend getaways! Foxen canyon wine country! Maverick Saloon in Santa Ynez, out to Lompoc on the 246, down the 1. Our quick putt ride is down to Neptunes Net, santa monica mountains, Ojai or the 126 through SP and Fillmore out to Lake Piru.
@@texcalit Next time you're up in Santa Barbara...head up Old San Marcos Pass, cross over the 154 and go up Painted Cave Road. Definitely do the entire loop on Figueroa Mtn Road which turns into Happy Canyone road - you will have to ford a creek and do about 2 miles going down hill on a dirt road: lots of fun. Good technical ride.
Los Olivos also has a small Figueroa Mtn Brewery tasting room and a lot of wine tasting rooms.
I have an 06 FLHTI that has been customized to surpass CVO status. In 2012 I had a project in Paso Robles CA. I convinced my company to let me drive to the sight from GA. I hauled the tools and the bike across country to the project in my Pickup. Every Saturday afternoon I would ride the Eglide to different wineries for the 4 months I was out there. I ended up with 14 cases of wine that I hauled back to GA. I flew my wife out for a week in CA then followed Route 66 back to OK for 10 days. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had.
Hell Yeah Bro, sounds like a blast...I wanna do the I-10 to the end this fall when it cools off a bit, and I can get the time off work...wanna hit Sturgis too, Georgia to Sturgis would have to be a nice ride, as I'm just north of ATL...👍
Two lanes, two wheels, two cylinders, too much fun! This is one of the best videos yet!
These videos are so inspiring. I wish I had friends who rode and were willing to go on epic adventures such as these.
Stop wishing and make it happen, when I got my bike I walked up to someone at the gas pump, who looked like he was going the same way, now a few years later we've put on thousands of miles together, and become quite good friends. When we get home we start planning the next one.
@Tim Collier Amen brother. Enjoy the next one!
Buy a motorcycle from Matt, attend a few motorcycle events near where you live, and you will easily connect with motorcycle friends.
I'm there!
@@OSOFLHP That's so rad man. Met a ridding buddy at a gas pump.
Hell yeah!! Another Laidlaw crew road trip. Keep them coming Matt 😎👍
Thank you. Thanks for watching.
Matt
You and your crew have reached a new plateau once again! Amazing and outstanding, You keep outdoing yourself every single time. Your journeys are much more than epic, keep the content flowing. What a difference when watching on a big screen TV. Amazing.
You showing us on the East side of the Mississippi some hidden gems of roads out west.
Keep them coming.
Lots of Hidden gems out here. I need to do more East Coast stuff though for sure.
Stunning ride! You should make a link on your dealer website about the routes your rides take!
Great ride Matt, nice music track not to mention the drone footage. Nice to see the good natured ribbing of Brandon with plenty of tips to fix things.
Don't leave Home till you've seen the Country.😊
Another very COOL RIDE Matt and Team. .
Did my heart good to see riders prepared for tire problems 😎
Yes sir
Another awesome video. Thank you for taking us along.
Thanks for joining us.
I really enjoy these videos. I live in Iowa would love to take a few weeks off to ride my 2022 RGS out to the west coast and check out a lot of these roads that are in your videos. The great effort that goes into the narration and production is very evident. Please keep em coming!
Damn Matt another video made by RIDERS for RIDERS appreciate this !
Matt, thank you for content. I would love to see a detailed video of the HD's different engine's reliability with all pros and cons. What is the highest millage HD engine you have ever seen or had serviced? I think that would be a great content.
Jaime! Glad to see him on the ride. One of the first and friendliest guys I met at your shop
Love your videos of your tours. Always great to watch and falling in love with California. What a beautiful state. Please keep em’ coming !!
Once again, another great video by you and your crew! Thank you Laidlaw Crew!
Thanks Chris
Thanks Matt!!! You always show the greatest road on your side of the country....
Better ride than me dodging rain and hail in the CO Rockies today. But never a bad day on 2 wheels rain or shine. Another good vid.
Enough about wine, I don't even drink wine lol, classic. Enjoy all your adventures
Great video guys... back roads is where the magic is... One day we will venture to the west coast it looks great!!!
Thanks. Yea come out. We got some good roads out here
And that why we ride motorcycles. Fantastic day for you and your friends!
This is exactly why we ride motorcycles.
Actually they are called alternative lifestyle cutters! Great video! My wife and I watch them and it pumps her up to take long rides with me.
Lol. Gotcha. I’ll update my vocabulary.
That Neotec 2 is awesome! Watching carefully you look like riding a secondary road in Europe. Such landscapes richness you have.
Yea, there are parts of CA that look like the country side in France or Italy.
Matt, thanks for the shout out! Fran AKA Bill
This was a great video. I'm green with jealousy because I wish I lived closer to there and could ride those roads, but I can dream! Thanks for posting.
Screw Hell, that was a Lag Bolt...😂 Matt you guys never cease to show the best part of the country, another master piece bro...plus I haven't heard that song from Bo The Drifter in a decades...
Haha. Thanks man. Thanks for watching. Music is always tough to please everyone. Glad you liked it
Wow! What a gorgeous scenery to ride a Harley through! Thanks for sharing this amazing video! I had a chance to drive around by following the wine route of a movie called “Sideways” which took me to most of the small towns you guys showed on this video! I wish I could’ve ridden instead of driven hehehe / Again, thanks for sharing the video. That reminded me when I visited over back in 2016!
I really enjoy following your "rides", what really comes across is that you are all really decent guys and also very good friends. Thanks for bringing some sun into the life of a Cornishman (south England County)
Thanks for watching. It’s always good to hear when people enjoy our videos.
❤😍🤩 WoW
Love the Route you guys took. Especially 166 to Hudson Ranch Road. I will definitely 💯 take Hudson Ranch Road soon. Thank You to your customer (Fran) recommendations.
Love the white Shoei Neotec 2 helmet.
Awesome video Matt (again). Love the drone shots.
Ride safe from Sydney, Australia🤘
Thanks Kevin. I gotta make it to Australia one day.
Yup, yet another great voyage of riding experience on two wheels Matt. It gets me so pumped for another season of rides this year. Thank you!
Great vid. Having fun while riding with your friends is a simple pleasure that never gets old.
Never gets old!
California bashing is practically a new sport these days but it’s good you and the boys haven’t left. This is the soul- lifting stuff of California dreamin.
Great video Matt ! Thanks so much for sharing the journey. The music and scenery are spot on. Good times .

Thanks, Matt; I always love your videos. I need to get down that way one day. I've been on most if not all the back roads in Napa and Sonoma counties seeing I live here.
Epic weather for such a great trek out thru those old canyon highways.
Oh, this is hilarious. I’m in fact sitting here in Denmark watching you guys eating and pronouncing æbleskiver.
Second to none…
Just hilarious.
Love to watch your videos, Matt.
Keep the rubber on the tarmac
Haha. How far off are we??
@@MattLaidlaw pretty close in fact. I wouldn’t doubt
I like taking the 33 down to Ojai going east to the 5 . good cruise ,I have enjoyed 166.
Great video Matt, always love the content you put up. On CZcams you see lots of videos drop and many are kinda Mehhhhh! If it's a Laidlaw drop I'm in faster than a rat up a drainpipe 🤣 as I know the quality and videography are going to be right up there. Thanks for posting.
hah! Thanks man. I try not to release crap. I want to look back and know that I gave it my all on every video. No trash production here
"Dont even drink wine" Classic!!!!
Another great ride! You guys were due for a nice one without rain!
I love that green road king special. Thats my next bike, hope they stick around.
Another inspirational video of motorcycling in southern California. Very well done, thank you. Fess Parker was an actor that portrayed Davey Crockett in the series of and also Daniel Boone in the series of Daniel Boone
Interesting!! His Vineyard was damn nice, that's for sure.
Davey, Davey Crockett, king of the wild frontier🎼
Another Ride to add to the Ride bucket list.
Cali riding is epic. Love it!
Lot's of good spots
A great road trip, I enjoyed your ride, Greetings from Frankfurt a.M. Germany, Matt.
Great-Time...nothing like a road trip on your Bike, even if it's a overnighter at motel or you packed a one man tent with basic camping gear. And the Back Roads out in the Beautiful Country...for-sure. Good Video.
Looks great 😮💨 streamed on my 65” TV, awesome cinematography and informative as always. One of my favorite places to ride.
When I ride to The Deer Lodge in Ojai, after a nice meal and a few games of pool - I usually take the 33 north and swing a right onto Lockwood Valley Road and then take the 5 south back to San Clemente.
Thanks for sharing your trips, good times for sure! 😎⚡️🤙
Thats a great ride CJ. I was actually originally planning to do Hwy 33 but it was closed. Not that that really stopped us in similar situations. The 33 is awesome.
Nice crew . great job bringing us along on the road with you all .. thanks for the ride !
This must be the fourth time I’ve watched this vlog. Lovely job 😊
Haha thanks man 👍🏼
As always Awesome Matt & Crew!
This is what team building is really supposed to be. Great video!
haha exactly. This type of riding builds bonds. Not an after work pizza party.
Nothing better than the Backroads. Wisconsin is full of these types of roads. Slow, windy, very little traffic. Best way to ride. Great video!!!!
Thanks Mat, once again this content is what you excel at. Always good to have a crew that you can share these experiences with. Hope to get across to the States on day to give these roads a try. Thank you 👊👍
Hey Matt. Really enjoy these videos and appreciate your effort in making them. And FWIW I think you do a great job with narration. Keep up the good work. Please!

@@MattLaidlaw you're the real deal!!!
@@MattLaidlaw i wish i could buy a bike from you, but i hate flying. just bought a low rider st. maybe someday when i get well i can buy one from you.
That is a great ride! My mother-in-law and father-in-law have a house up in Pine Mountain. I've ridden a lot of the places you guys did and it is a great little day ride! 👍🏼
Oh thats cool. I never even knew about this town. Seems like a cool little getaway
@Matt Laidlaw too bad everything wasn't open. The Perch is a cool little bar to go eat and hang out. They have bomb churros! Luc is the bartender/owner and he's a character. They have good fish & chips and he will show you some magic tricks if you ask. Definitely check it out on the weekend.
Matt, this a scenic route.
A more technical twisty is the road just south of Hudson Ranch/Pine Mountain!
It is called Lockwood Valley Road.
Take that to Hwy 33 to Ojai!
Then to Ventura Pier for Beach House Tacos!
I’ll try that next time!! Thank you
What can I say everybody else Express just what I was thinking. Awesome 🤙🏼🤙🏼
This had a very Ken Burns feel to it- great job man. This must have taken forever to make
Thanks man. 2 Days to film and about 20 Hours of editing.
Spiritual...
Everyone should be blessed to see it.
Hell yeah, dude! I hear ya, we enjoyed an awesome ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway recently, & it's fist pumps & thumbs up through out the ride. Great times Thanks for the vids!

I live in Orcutt (Santa Maria) and this is the go to for a quick cruise. I got relatives that live in West Covina off Citrus Ave. in the hills. Looks like a good cruise from here to Laidlaws.
Another Great video Matt! The music score at the beginning was Awesome as was all the scenery! Thanks to you and the crew for taking the time to put it all together!
Man that's an awesome ride. Thanks

Great video brother, beautiful scenery and roads. Im from New Jersey, I don't have the pleasure to enjoy such good roads. jjj
Thanks for watching. Make the trek out. It's worth it
Matt, another great video. I ride with Battle Born Carson City NV HOG and was thinking of a club ride to the Napa wine country but may switch to Santa Barbara. One thing I really enjoy about your videos is the music, great selections!
Great Clip Matt! Really enjoyed it.
Epic, hopefully hit those roads one day!
road kings baby. I LOVE my 2015 FLHP.
Always check your tires. Glad you caught it before you left.
Another great road trip on the Harleys. Love the quality filming.
Cheers from England 🏴
What a beautiful, peaceful scenic ride and to top it off no traffic....that's what MC riding is about! I t heightens all your natural senses, that can only be experience on two wheels!! Great Off the road adventure!!!!! Tanks for sharing!
Great video love the music, sounded like Shakey Graves playing some guitar, awesome scenery
I have been watching Adam Sandoval's convoy video and it seems every bagger that is riding with him is a Road Glide. It is nice to see 80% of the bikes on this ride are Road Kings.
