Have you ever done a mystery puzzle like this? And did you manage to solve it? No spoilers in the comments please!
I'm from Columbo's generation. I would be trapped easily.
RECIPE - Nope, never done one but that looks very interesting! You seemed to have had a great time “solving the puzzle” 😉 see ya’ next time, Karen
Never done one like this, but I have done plenty of ‘WASGIJ’ puzzles. They are kind of like mystery puzzles as the actual image is not that on the front. They can be really funny once finished.
I’ve done an Alfred Hitchcock mystery puzzle years ago. It was great but I didn’t guess the mystery.
I recently finished a mystery puzzle from White Mountain called, The Curse of Blackwood Hall. It was fun!
In Germany this show is called "Murder is her hobby" and so when I was a little child and my father watched it, I used to assume that she was the murderer😅😂
Ja, genau so 😅
in the latinamerican vercion was called "Reportera del Crimen" (crime journalist) who is actually weird, because she is a mystery novelist. Mom and me saw this show eash tuesday before sleep.
Dito :D
There’s a funny internet conspiracy theory that Jessica was totally the murderer because murders happen literally everywhere she goes. 🤣
Why do we always do weird translations in France, here it was called "Arabesque"...🤔
I'm Italian, so that looks like a perfectly reasonable amount of garlic to me. :-) (Recipe, BTW.)
LOL
Same as an African i think weight even need 1
I am not Italian, and I always put much more garlic than what is called for! yummm
I'm also Italian and I never use garlic because I personally don't like it, so I think that it just depends on your own personal preferences.
The moment it showed unpitted peaches in the food processor I was like "NOOOOOOO!" lol, that was the FIRST thing I caught. Also that recipe sounds so gross, lol. Fish, tomato sauce, garlic and PEACHES? Yuck!!
I'm once in restaurant have fish and peaches, but it was pickled and grill peaches not... processed.
Very late but I didn’t even REALIZE they were in a food processor at first because I thought the processed would be something industrial ... and whole peaches in a bowl looks like set dressing, not anything a sane chef would do in a food processor!!
With evaporated milk and baking soda too lol
i immediately noticed the UNPITTED peached cause "Some fresh fruits, including ...peaches... have pits that contains cyanide compounds, which are poisonous. If a couple pits are accidentally swallowed, it will not cause poisoning. The pits are more poisonous if they are ground up/crushed or the seeds are chewed."
She definitely missed her flight. No refunds!
The 80s were a much different time 😆
I caught the two heads of garlic in the puzzle but didn't think that was a mistake since I always at least double the amount of garlic any recipie calls for!
I spray painted a 500-piece, four-color gradient and gave it fourteen "mystery" pieces that seem out of place. I even confused myself.
Wow, fun idea!
Awesome, I would like see that. 😁
Clever... I had to think about that and it took me a while to figure out how you made a mystery piece
I did a 1,000 piece puzzle based on the Da Vinci Code. It had letters around the edge and you had you use the tool they gave you to solve the 'Recipe'. Hadn't seen the film at the time so my mom had to explain the answer to me.
All of the clips and jokes you did explaining the story were hilarious! I loved that feature in this wild recipe of a video
Karen: sorry to the person I was bidding against, I won
Me: was it PushingUpRoses? it was probably PushingUpRoses.
here's the Roses comment I was looking for
That was so my first thought too.
My late Mother LOVED watching Murder She Wrote. This was a fun video. I enjoyed the 'mystery' aspect in addition to the puzzle.
Oh my, I laughed so hard when you said Jessica should not leave the airport with two hours until her flight. In the '80s, getting on a flight was no harder than getting on a bus or a train, especially for domestic flights. You just walked up and got on. Plenty of time to go get lunch, especially if the airport wasn't too far from restauranty areas.
It was like that in the 90s, too. I remember being late for the flight, entering the airport 15 minutes before take-off... and still managing to board the plane. They even allowed me to bring my duffel bag with me in the cabin since it was too late to check it in with the luggage... also, I might be wrong, but it seeme the planes were a bit more roomy then since I could stuff the duffel bag under the seat easily, without discomforting the person behind me.
This all sounds utterly insane from today's perspective, but I'd say it's the today's world that's the one being insane.. :P
Target just came out with blockbuster movie puzzles, that come in a 90's VHS-like box. I just did the Beetlejuice one & I loved it. They have one for The Shinning and Jaws, etc. I thought you'd be interested, they're pretty fun and nostalgic for me (a 90's kid).
8:23
Karen: Ah we have...
Me: apples
Karen: fish
Me: well okay then 😐
Same😂😂😂
Saaaame
I love how you can get old puzzles! I live in Argentina and it's so difficult, I hope the puzzle culture grows and more of them are available!
Here in Brasil it's difficult too
That murder story in gifs must have taken you ages! But I LOVE IT!! Very funny 🤓
I just finished a puzzle called C for Chocolate very similar to this one! Mine was 2 before and after pictures, so two 500 piece puzzles that were nearly identical, and no reference picture! I would highly recommend it! I'm waiting for my second one called "D for Diamonds" to come in!
I love all the clips you used whilst outlining the story! Some of my favourite programmes in there. I'll have to ask my mum if she still has any Murder She Wrote jigsaws, as I definitely remember doing them, more years ago than I'd like to admit! Watching this video was certainly a recipe for making me feel old😂
I did a golfing murder mystery one and I found it incredibly hard to do without a picture. The border was relatively easy, but everything else was very hard. I would collect all the pieces of something I knew went together, a yellow golf bag, say, but I had no idea where it went in the puzzle or even whether it was laying down or standing up. I would put together all these golf balls and have no idea where they went! I FINALLY got it all together. After that it was fun reading the story and looking at the puzzle and figuring out who did the murder! Recipe!
Love the way you say that you are going to finish the tiles 'just for completions sake' when there is no chance you would leave a jigsaw uncompleted!!!
I didn't stop the video to solve it on my own.
I watch your Puzzle videos while i cook! 😂
Without a recipe, of cours 😉
That clip summery to the mystery in the beginning was awesome.I would create recipes at my old job.
I never would have solved it although I didn’t read the “recipe” at all! But I did watch Murder She Wrote back in the 80’s and still do once in a white.
Never knew there was puzzles, I’ll need to try and find them. I have every episode of murder she wrote on dvd, still sealed for now as I’ve seen it all. But I love a puzzle. I do love how even in puzzle form she just finds herself in a crime scene lol
Oh wow, Angela Lansbury, what a throwback. I only saw her in Bedknobs and Broomsticks, bc she was big long before I was born. But she's a fantastic actress, I really loved her witch character.
I always find your videos very entertaining! Your personality just fits the overall aesthetic of the video and makes the reviews much more fun to watch! It feels like i am right there with you 🥺💙 keep it up please, your content is amazing
I noticed everything that was off from the recipe except one thing. Murder She Wrote is awesome! Actually started watching it when it was on Netflix years ago and now I believe it's on Amazon and Peacock. Cool puzzle and it was made the year I was born.
I loved this! Especially since every Friday I've been sitting down with a jigsaw puzzle while listening to a murder she wrote podcast lol
"1984... 6 years before I was born".... i instantly felt like the crypt keeper. Also recipe. Also I don't think I would have gotten all those clues, either!
Clue (the board game) also licensed some mystery puzzles. I have done a couple of those, they are very fun. Karen, I think you should try cooking! It could be like a whole new type of puzzle for you. A recipe puzzle.
Code word recipe.
Yes. I do a lot of cooking but nobody seems to care. I saw almost all the clues. I missed the tbsp in place of the tsp, and the hole in the top of the condensed milk.
But from how badly the recipe was set out, it could only have been the gangster Mr Fallon.
This was fun! Thank you. I have never done one before.
I used to watch, Murder She Wrote all the time. I am pretty sure my whole family watched the episodes. I come from a family of eight. I come from a neighborhood of big families. One of our nearest neighbors had 16 kids. They watched, Murder She Wrote too.
Thank you again for sharing your time and energy with us.
Sincerly,
Greg Wolf.
The first time she said pocketknife I was like HE DID IT
Me too
Me too, was hopping that was not the answer...
The unpitted peachs, the "recipe" card, and the garlic were the three clues that helped me solve the mystery along side you. I love the concept of a mystery puzzle. I need to start looking for some soon! Great video btw!
Recipe! Seems like the puzzling process was a blast, the mystery, eh, not so much. Never watched the show much, I'm more of a Matlock guy.
I am a huge Murder, She Wrote fan! I too have seen every episode and loved them all. Well all except for the Magnum P.I. crossover ones. I once did a jigsaw puzzle that was 3D and contained clues to solve a murder. It looked like an apartment tower and there were clues on each side. I had a lot of fun with that. This was a very cool video.
They should make more puzzles like this!! - it would be really great for a digital format, too since you probably wouldn't care much to do them more than once. It would be so fun.
Murder She Wrote was "the show to watch" in the 1980s and 1990's every Sunday night. As a mother of a daughter your age I, like your Mother, watched it religiously.
I have never put together a mystery puzzle of any kind - I did not know they existed.
You are a 'peach' for going the extra puzzle mile to find it on Ebay, and bring it to your subscribers.
I loved the challenge - chose Mr. Fallon.
Please bring us more - loved the audience participation. "Recipe "!!
We had a couple of these sorts of puzzles as kids. Also I love Wasgij jigsaws. They are not the picture on the box. You can have mystery ones, destiny and what are they looking at. Also look up the talking Jigsaw puzzles. They are really fun you make the sets of 4 and then you have to work out where they sit by what is around them. People talk like someone will comment on the bird up on level 5 and stuff like that. I have two of them and love them both.
Oh, in France this show is called "Arabesque" and I didn't know the words "murder" then "she wrote" that we see in the opening were the actual title! (And the last part of the opening was edited, and shown a typewriter machine). I used to watch this show with my mum when I was a teen, and we were both convinced that she was really bad luck to be around... or worse. I didn't know they released mystery puzzles about this show, it was never released in my country I guess. Thank you for sharing!
Why am i always watching puzzle videos while doing one? Love this though!
Loved the editing, loved the format, loved the mystery, loved the puzzle, loved the drag race references, amazing !!
Recipe! I had one of those CSI puzzles back in the day and it came with a little black light and some other fun stuff. It was a fun puzzle.
I had 1 of those too. Gave it to my son.
I have a crime puzzle but it still new in the box. I need to be on the mode to look for the answers and do it properly. Very interesting
I've been really enjoying the Ravensburger Escape puzzles. I've done 3 now. The puzzle is a slightly different image than on the box, has escape room riddles, and mystery to solve all rolled together. I love how you have to solve the clues but they also give hints if you need it. My only issues were the puzzle dust in the bag and the fact that they include edge pieces that you have to remove (at first I kept them expecting them to be part of the mystery, but it isn't - just wasted time).
To keep with this theme - try the Witch's Kitchen one - slightly different recipes there ;)
I love these mystery Puzzles, I have a Titanic one! And I thought the Baking Soda/ Powder was a Typo! LOL! !like getting 2nd hand puzzles from the 2nd hand shop, putting them together & donating them back. I put a mark on the box to say how many pieces & from where in the puzzle they are missing!
I too totally did not catch the clues that you missed 😂 doing a puzzle without knowing the image sounds so fun! I would be curious if I can make a real edible dish following that recipe!!
Oh my goodness that sounds like so much fun I can't wait to watch this unfold and thank you for giving us this video this is so much fun and I love your energy.
Oh my goodness!!! I have watched your you tubes for some time. I enjoy them. I can't work a puzzle to save my soul. But...we solved one of those puzzles! And worked it. It was a blast!
This" recipe "gave me motivation to continue my puzzle
That's one strange recipe. I caught most of the mistakes except that last one you mentioned. I used to watch Murder She Wrote some back in the 80's, but I know I missed a lot of it, too. My favorite murder mystery show was Remington Steele.
I loved this one! I watched Murder she wrote as a child, and was really excited for this video. Solving mysteries with a puzzle is awesome! A total recipe for fun! Thank you 🤩
I've been waiting for this one! Love it!
Used to watch it all the time! Love those old shows!
I found a different one of these Murder She Wrote mystery puzzles at the local bookfare yesterday, but it was missing the booklet so I didn’t get it…..I haven’t stopped thinking about it lol so Im gonna go back and get it today!!
Karen I am a murder she wrote super fan. Watching you unbox this puzzle gave me joy. I did a puzzle of this type with an Alfred Hitchcock theme. Your videos are great. Code Recipe
Loved watching Jessica many moons ago & enjoyed watching you do the ‘recipe’ puzzle.
I loved watching Murder She Wrote on tv. I still watch the reruns.
Okay I like your videos anyhow, but this is on another level. I love this video so much.
i'm imagining PushingUpRoses was the competing bidder and it's going to be an all-out grudge rivalry..
I loved the clips and cool stuff in your video. How fun! I'm a big fan of Murder She Wrote.
Have never done a mystery jigsaw puzzle, but would enjoy trying one. Mystery + puzzle = a good RECIPE for fun. :-)
The peaches in the food processor, plus that being way more than 2 cloves of garlic caught my attention. But before those clicked in my head I knew Jessica was looking at who had what to open something with... I'm another person who's seen every episode of Murder She Wrote... and the can of evaporated milk were what lead me to the right conclusion. Another brand of these that I remember doing as a kid were ones of the Clue brand, where Mr Boddy inevitably got killed, and you had to solve the puzzle to figure out who. I liked those because in addition to the book, you had to compare them to the box art... the before the crime took place picture, to the puzzle, the after the crime took place picture, to also solve the mystery.
Loved this 'recipe' mystery puzzle. I will be watching ebay in the hopes of finding some of these vintage puzzles. And, other mystery ones as they seem like my cuppa tea. I fast forwarded the Solution part, seeing as you kindly saved documents for us viewers to have fun solving it when we have time. You keep expanding my puzzling horizons... Thank You, Karen, I just love your puzzling passion and of course your channel
You have such a great recipe for the way you do your puzzle videos. And I used to watch murder she wrote all the time. However I am old
I did a Wasgij which was a mystery to me. Great video. Loved it!!
Ever since you showed this recipe for murder version of the Murder she wrote jigsaw puzzles on your collection video I've been looking forward to this review. My wife loves Murder She wrote and so I have been curious if they are something she'd maybe like for one of her presents for her birthday at the end of this month. They seem like a fun puzzle and a decent attempt to mix a jigsaw and a murder mystery. Thank you for making this video, it has helped me a lot.
I subbed to your channel because this was a RECIPE for how to make a CZcams video. It was so much fun. I really appreciated the editing and the interactive links.
Also, I was pretty sure solving the mystery had to do with ingredients not matching the recipe card. But, I couldn't be sure because there had to be more cards with more ingredients (i.e. the fish & apples) and instructions for cooking (times & temps).
I have done a mystery puzzle a few years ago and did enjoy it. I found one at goodwill that still has the plastic on it for 2 dollars that I haven't done yet. I never watched Murder She Wrote but I love Angela Lansbury. She was a hoot in Death On The Nile. Love your videos Karen and happy puzzleing!!
LOL. I love Murder She Wrote. Looks like a fun puzzle.
Karen, this video was so funny! I loved your commentary of the murder story. Had me laughing out loud.
All the memes during the explanation are awesome! 🤣🤣🤣
Haha... I’ve been wanting to do one of those mystery puzzles for years... awesome!
Karen, I am amazed on how fast you put puzzles 🧩 together. 👍👍👍 i am a Lebanese cook, that never follows any Recipes 😂😂 no, I have not done any murder puzzles yet as I did not even know they exists. 🥰
Omg I love this show and no idea they had puzzles! I have to find one
I did do every mystery puzzle I could find, I loved them. One I remember the answer had to do with chess, which I know nothing about. I had to read the page backwards to figure it out, lol. Love your videos.
omgg the meme editing of the murder story is everything!!
I have done a couple of the Murder She Wrote puzzles but one was blue and the other was pink. I don't think I have seen this one but I did manage to solve it although, like you, I didn't get all the nuances from the recipe. I remember my mom opening condensed milk with one of those openers that leave a triangular shape so I noticed that the opening was odd. This made me very nostalgic for Murder She Wrote so I may have to go back and watch some episodes.
Please do more of these! So fun! Missed opportunity for more recipe puns, though.
I’m so bad at puns!
I did not watch much of this video because I haven’t done the puzzle yet. I will definitely come back to see it when I have done this puzzle
I saw those peaches in the food processor and was like !!! Excuse me puzzle, that's a good way to kill a good processor
I miss these kind of shows!😢
your descriptions of the suspects had me laughing so bad 😂😂
It looks so new!
A mystery puzzle is a recipe for fun! I recently bought one at a thrift store and am looking forward to trying to solve it.
I do vaguely remember doing a mystery puzzle once as a teen. I don't remember what the mystery or puzzle picture was, but I'm pretty sure it was not Murder She Wrote, just some other brand. I recall having fun with it though. I wish I could remember more about it! I will admit I didn't follow along with your mystery because while I was listening I was googling dessert RECIPEs for my hubby's birthday lol.
Recipe. i watched murder she wrote all the time lol not all her murders happened in the little town most happened on her book tours. hope your having a wonderful day.
I did a puzzle of a murder on the titanic. I think the puzzle was from the 1980s. It was missing one piece but fortunately it was a solid color black so it wasn’t missed. It is lots of fun to do a murder mystery puzzle!
You made my day better 🤗💛
Hi Karen. I just discovered your channel this evening and I thoroughly enjoyed the videos I’ve seen so far so naturally I subscribed.
I have all but one of these retro murder she wrote puzzles, including recipe for murder but I haven’t done it yet! The first one I did I believe was called the art of murder and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.
I love how real you are! Cheers from Canada! Cathy!
Hello. A new video! Nice. Have watched murder she wrote a lot. Great show. I don ,t think i could save the mistery. But very nice to see you do the puzzle and attempt to solve it. Must have been fun doing indeed. Hope you are well. Thank you for sharing and kind regards from the netherlands. Didn,t have a sentence with the word 😅
I did one of these, very fun!
The Escape Room puzzles from Ravensburger are pretty cool!
I've done a mystery puzzle before and I did solve it after rereading and examing the clues in the picture for hours. As for this mystery puzzle, I followed along and was able to solve the mystery just by pure reading the storyline and realizing that the only person who could have opened the can was Mr. Fallon who had the pocket knife. I absolutely love mystery puzzles (by far my favorite and I feel are the best ones).
I'm a new subscriber and this was great fun!
I don't cook with evaporated milk, but my Nana use to use it for coffee creamer when I was younger and I totally forgot that you puncture 2 holes in the top. Deep seeded memory right there.
Oh my goodness I love your videos
What a weird recipe, peaches and tomato puree lol.
Anyway I love puzzles like this!
I’ve read several mystery books so this video caught my attention, I didn’t know this kind of puzzles even existed! I’m from Argentina 🇦🇷 and we usually just find “traditional” puzzles in stores.
I wander what kind of RECIPE you can do with garlic, peaches and tomato? Love your channel! 😘
For me a mystery puzzle would be a recipe for quitting a puzzle. Haha. Loved the video.
Well, this would be perfect for me. I love following true crime and I love doing jigsaw puzzles. Good job Karen! Angela Lansbury would be proud:)
I’m living for all the drag race clips 😂
