Today I’m attempting the most difficult jigsaw puzzle in the world...well, as of 1964! This is the vintage Springbok puzzle of Convergence by Jackson Pollock.

Today I'm taking on the most difficult puzzle in the world...as of 1964 😂 What is the most difficult jigsaw puzzle you've ever done?
Karen Puzzles the pencil puzzle by white mountain
The Krypt puzzles by Ravensburger
Avon Knof I did one like that but it was French fries! I had to practically lay out pieces in categories on do by process of elimination (trying out one by one)!😩😂
SuperDeut4 lol
World 😊
My favourite the single color Gold Krypt puzzle from Ravensburger however at the start I thought I never gonna finish it 😅😅😅 and yes I did use the answer key, but even with that it is a hard work to complete.
However the most difficult for me was a 500 piece impossible mini puzzle with a colourful sprinkles image
Living in a World with Covid, it's comforting knowing Karen is there, puzzling away.
YASS
This warmed my heart
I was litterally just thinking. Wtf do I watch this. I dont even puzzle and I just didnt want to admit it haha.
Rightttt I love Karen’s vibe so much and don’t say that often hahah but fr I love this channel so much.
I’m working my way through your videos, not particularly in order, and it’s so funny to see one’s like this where you talk about specific puzzles like the Red Riding Hood that you didn’t know about then but now have in your collection. It’s like, just wait, Karen of then! There’s a whole world of vintage puzzles coming at you, I’ve seen your future!
Karen: "Definitely not by far
the most difficult puzzle..."
Me: "Not all of us are world-class puzzlers, Karen."
Doesn't that just mean she's tackled others - more difficult ones - than this before?
I don't think she's saying it's necessarily easy or not difficult! DIfficult is also kind of subjective, I suppose. 😃
My daughter walked in while I was watching this and you now have another little fan. She was waving at you and trying to talk to you.
Me: never does puzzles and would probably struggle with a children's puzzle.
Also me: 'It's only 340 pieces and it's supposed to be the world's hardest puzzle?"
I think the most difficult puzzle would be a 5000 piece version of the color changing puzzle
"For now" lol
Na... a 40k piece "ketchup" puzzle would be the most difficult lol
Or the clear one.
There's a CZcams channel with a guy doing a 42.000 piece puzzle
It was really fun for me to watch you do a puzzle that is part of my mother's family lore! I'm honestly surprised there are so few pieces, given the way my uncles and aunts talked about the difficulty (tales and memories tend to grow over the years). Your video gives my mom some vindication, though, in her constant assertion that the Pollack puzzle wasn't as hard as everyone thought. :D
One thing that did occur to me, regarding difficulty level back then vs today: at the time, Pollack's work was really considered impenetrable and dizzying. It was so different and required such a radical shift in how one gazes upon artwork, that some of the "most difficult" title could have been the psychologically daunting aspect of the puzzle. We look back at the art a bit more easily now, with eyes that are more used to the onslaught of bright colors and raucous lines, and with a denser cultural understanding that helps us situate and make it meaningful.
WORLD
I hope you've sent this to your mom's family! I think they'd enjoy a reminder of this memory.
My "most difficult puzzle in the world " was a round puzzle of a top view of a bowl of popcorn.
I completed it back in my youth.
Omg. That sounds so hard.
😂😂 I was 7yrs old and I remember that puzzle. I was soooo easy I remember my mother was pissed. We made it in a few hours. We did many more that were so much harder. I've been doing Puzzles a long time. I have to force myself to slow down and stop. I can't vafford to be making 1000 pc in a few hours
I got my mom the 1,000 piece Pollock puzzle a few years ago for Christmas and she’s working on it now. It’s very difficult!
I love the way you speak smilingly and your enthusiasm is contagious. You are the cutest puzzler in the world! Thank you for your great videos!
This puzzle is so beautiful. It's really a piece of art, from it's looks, the piece shapes, the vintage factor. Stunning.
Thumbs up for the 1000 pieces Pollock puzzle 👍
When you were measuring the puzzle I was like, that’s actually pretty small, but then noticed (and you said it) that it was in inches... so I still don’t know anything.
One inch is roughly 2,7 cm so it's roughly 32, 4 x 51,3 cm
@@sleepygirl96 actually one inch is exactly 2.54 cm, as imperial units are tied to the normal international units
@@cogitoergoludo Yes, it’s a strange contradiction, isn’t it? But anyway, for a good approximation it’s much easier to treat it as 2.5 c.m. as then the conversion is always pretty much automatic without having to really think about it.
I did the 1000-piece Convergence puzzle by Pomegranate. It was hard but, as someone who loves Pollock's work, I enjoyed it very much.
I love your videos Karen! Your videos are really entertaining and I have now gotten my own collection of puzzles from watching you!
Loved the video - in fact i’d say you are my number one, most favorite puzzler in the entire world - no exaggeration! It was so interesting to hear your review of a true vintage puzzle, right down to the antique book scent - i love that scent, having come across many antique books over the years. I would consider gifting the puzzle to some puzzling friends as the sense of accomplishment will be tremendous for them. Thank you for making my world a little brighter today!!!!!!
I call Crochet Challenge by Cobble Hill my demon puzzle. The first time I tried it I gave up and put it away. I recently ran out of new puzzles to do, so decided to give it another go. It took me about three times longer to do than I’d normally spend on a 1000 pc puzzle. The puzzle is a picture of a crochet sampler with all white crochet on a blue background. The pieces include odd shapes and don’t lock together tightly. If you try to move sections, they fall apart, and the picture on the box is small enough that it’s difficult to use as a reference. I did manage to finish it this time, but there was a lot of cursing in my world 🤷♀️😂
You're passion for puzzles is contagious!! I really love your videos and I hope you have an awesome rest of your day. I'm very happy youtube recommended me your channel :D
Yay! Always happy to see a new puzzle video, Karen. I've been going through mine so fast and struggling to find new ones to buy online. Puzzles have been selling out like crazy.
Springbok puzzles are some of my favorite puzzles to do in the world. I just love their quality, and for many of them, the unique shapes of the pieces. That Jackson Pollock puzzle looked like it was fun to do. Lots of busyness.
I'm working on the world's biggest puzzle! At least when I bought it :p the first Disney 40.000. so that's definitely the most difficult puzzle I'll ever be doing! :)
Wow! Good luck!!
That's cool! How much did you pay for it?
40,000 pieces ???????
i-
What a WORLD of puzzles you have at home Karen. We love your videos and now I go to get one of mine to begin.
Fabulous work Karen, love your videos. I'm always waiting for your next one, so entertaining, thanks so much !!! 👏🙋😍
I Love your Technique on puzzles...I'm doing a 1000 pc Thomas Kinkade puzzle his paint scheme's throw me off but I picked up pointers by seeing you do puzzles and it made a huge difference Thank You!!!!!
I honestly don't even do puzzles, but it's so calming watching her videos?? I open a video and feel better automatically
Your videos mean the world to me! So relaxing and exciting at the same time. Can't wait to see which one you do next!
Oooh please do get that 1000 piece version of this painting! Would love to see the compare/contrast to the WORLD's most difficult puzzle. Salut from France!
You make solving jigsaw puzzles an exciting adventure, thanks for that! 👍
Girl I'm obsessed with your videos and I don't even like puzzles that much 😂 this is all just so satisfying to watch 👀
World ✨
World of thanks for your entertaining and knowledgeable videos.
I think some of the Wasgij are hard, but I think a Springbok Coca Cola one was pretty difficult because of all the red! You rock my World! Can't wait to see the Heinz puzzle!!!
I love Wasgij. Those puzzles were my gateway into serious puzzling and I still have to have the new ones (I've got nearly all). Since then, for non-Wasgij puzzles, I tend to only look at a picture for a minute, then put it away. It makes my puzzling last longer, so I don't over splurge on this beautiful hobby. And, that Coca Cola one is like doing a puzzle cross-eyed. Good call, Ariel.
Your videos always make me happy 💜
World :)) and by the way, I just found your channel Karen, and I can't stop watching all your videos while I do puzzles!! I never had imagined before that there could be puzzle channels, and your content is AMAZING🥰🥰🧩🧩
i love your analysis about what makes something/a puzzle difficult. i enjoy hearing stuff like that lol.
I would definitely love to do this puzzle. I think it is so great that it comes with a full print too!! I love Jackson Pollocks art so it would be a lot of fun to experience it in this way.
Yay finally a new video! I hv been waiting for this!!
Thank you for watching!
My mom and I did this one in 1964, I was 12. I think at the time it was considered the most difficult puzzle in the "world". I've done the Pomagranate 1000 piece Jackson P puzzle. It was amazing. Nice video, Karen, I really enjoy your content:)
Thank you for your delightful videos
I always appreciate your videos Karen, and I’m glad you tackled this Jackson Pollock one. Something a bit different! 🌍
I am so happy this is the puzzle you chose! Keep up your good work! love ya
I feel like "world's hardest puzzle" is the 1960's version of clickbait
*World* thanks a million for sharing this x
I have been doing Springbok puzzles since the early 70s. They have always been nice to do. The quality is very good and sturdy. They still are well made.
I love the names & concepts of the monochrome puzzles
I think that puzzle is a treasure to have from 1964. Maybe not the hardest but definitely cool to own. Great video. Loving your puzzle “world”.
Love your videos Karen!!!!
Yay another video! And thanks for the video about that puzzle app, comes in handy for the next few days. But as soon as I get home, i have a world map puzzle waiting for me. Or a globe actually. Second sphere puzzle I have!
I'm finishing up Galison’s ’The Great White Way’ by Michael Storrings. I'm new at puzzles and this is my third 2000 piece, and the most difficult of any I've done. And, like you said, connecting the pieces of someone’s artwork gives you a greater appreciation for it. It's like jumping into their WORLD. I'm enjoying your channel. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for doing this one. I wanted to see it in detail.
When I was young, my favourite jigsaw in the world was The Laughing Cavalier by Franz Hals. Just as you mentioned, working on the puzzle meant I got a great insight into the painting techniques, & I noticed so many details I would have missed if I just looked at a picture of it.
I've only ever done one real puzzle but i still enjoy this channel so much!
The "world" of puzzles is weirdly soothing!
I was 10 years old in 1964. I am sure that there are many puzzles in this world that are harder now for sure. Great job!
I agree, the single color puzzle looks much harder than the most difficult puzzle in the “world.” Loved the video! This puzzle still looks gorgeous! I wonder how many of us understood instantly that old book smell you described! ❤️
Love love your channel!
You are the coolest! We all need a little nice in this world 🌎! My kids and I enjoy puzzling so much. Thanks
I love Springbok puzzles, very high quality. The later and/or bigger ones are more likely to have false edge pieces. Some don't have corner pieces.
In the WORLD of jigsaw, right now, the hardest is one that has probably 50% black. There are variants in shade, but difficult (not impossible though).
You are the most fun puzzle channel in the world!
You have the most adorable upward dip-thong in the WORLD at the end of your words and sentences! Its so fun to listen to!! Every consonant has a quick "uh" at the end. But don't let me saying something make you conscious of it! Great post....i really enjoyed how thorough you were in your evaluation of the product and the experience!! You're my fav puzzler!
My husband got me an McEscher puzzle for Christmas a couple years back and it is by far my favorite puzzle I've done so far, and I even framed it. I keep my eye out for more artist puzzles that are unique and not your typical thomas kincaid ones
Yay! I'm so glad you did that one! I wonder if it was popular when "As the World Turns" was a hit TV show? I'd love to see you try the 1000 piece version.
You are my number one puzzler in the World!!!
You are super cute and adorable and I love all your “puzzle” comments! You make doing puzzles look super fun and your comments are all positive and thoughtful. Thanks for making puzzles “cool”. I always feel nerdy when I admit to loving a good jigsaw puzzle. Most members of my family roll their eyes and don’t want to work it with me. I think working together is good family bonding, but my family says puzzles are too boring and frustrating
The most difficult puzzle I've ever done was the Ravenburger Krypt puzzle. That one is one of the most difficult in the WORLD! Love your videos. Greetings from Argentina
That's a tricky one!
I haven't watched some of your older videos so I wanted to check those out. It's funny how you brought up art history and difficult puzzles, because the most difficult puzzle I have done was a 1,000-piece Sistine Chapel puzzle. It is such a busy image that my husband and I almost gave up on it, but we finished it in the end. While not the most difficult puzzle in the "world", it was still extremely challenging.
I totally agree with what you said about being able to spend more time with the artwork on another level because that is so true.
World- I love the old puzzles they are my fav's.
World....I really enjoyed this video, thanks!
Growing up, we had a springbok puzzle called “The Puzzler” at the cottage. It’s is a circular puzzle of a puzzle. The image is of saturated magenta, red, orange, yellow, green, and blue puzzle pieces.... but the puzzle isn’t cut on the piece lines in the image. Each piece could have a bunch of different colors on it. It blew my mind as a kid and is now long gone. Now that I’m delving more into the puzzle *world* I’ll try to track one down. I bought and loved the Keyway clear puzzle on your recommendation - SO glad I didn’t watch the spoilers!
Hello lovely Karen, world... I really like all of Pollack's paintings. I never knew that this puzzle existed. I'm in the process of ordering it right. It's going to be a great wall hanger. Love your videos.
World! I love your videos. I also love jigsaw puzzle and always make sure to look at new jigsaw puzzles to buy whenever I go to the malls. I now have 10 jigsaw puzzles, 1 completed, 1 in progress and 8 unopened. 500-1,500 pieces :)
I'm impressed. I like your narrating style too. :)
Yes! I mentioned this puzzle while watching another video!! It was soooooo difficult! But I did finish😊. One of my favorite puzzles was The Garden of Earthly Delights by Heironymus Bosch. The puzzle company is Eurographics Puzzles. There was so much detail in this piece of art and I don’t think I would have taken the time to study it for so long if I was looking at it in a museum.
I be watched all your videos so was looking forward to the next one 😁☺️
World! 🌍
I love your channel. The word was: world. Yes I watch the entire content of your videos. Thanks for your channel.
your videos are such a pleasure to Watch. they are sO well done and youR great personaLity really shines through in each viDeo. shout out to the albright-knox museum on this puzzle!
The most difficult puzzle I've ever done is the Ravensburger 9000 piece world map one. So so beautiful. I have also done the 9000 piece astrology one but the world map one was harder. I have since decided that I enjoy the 1000 - 2000 piece range a lot more so won't be doing such a large one again.
Got this one on order, but the Pomegranate version IIRC. Good to see a vintage puzzle being done and reviewed.
Springbok, my absolute favorite puzzle company!
Love watching your videos from the other side of the world ;) The most difficult puzzle I have done was the Krypt silver edition. (Remember I told you I made it for our wedding reception? The wedding had to be postponed due to the world situation, so hopefully next spring our guest will be writing their greetings on our puzzle).
Jakson Pollock would be proud:)) Nice job Karen! The most difficult puzzle I've done to date is a panoramic of Wrigley Field. I'd say approx. 80% of the puzzle was crowd. WORLD
That sounds so difficult!
I did that puzzle too! It was an absolute nightmare. I kept putting off doing because it looked disgusting but it got to the point where that was the only puzzle left in the house
Terrific looking puzzle Karen. Thanks for doing that one, and I"m gaining an appreciation of abstract art to boot. For most difficult puzzle, I'm not sure... but I'd say the 1500 piece aquarius "dc comic originals" took me a long time because all the faces started looking the same. Cheers.
Puzzle newbie here and at first glance I thought that would be a puzzle I'd never try but after your review I'll put it on my list for the future. I have a bunch of Pomegranate puzzles and I love each little trip into the art world.
The most difficult puzzle I've ever done was one which had a background of red bricks, and a foreground of repeating copies of black and white cows wearing cowboy boots. What made it so difficult wasn't the pattern, although that was annoying, but the fact that the pieces fit so loosely that more than three together couldn't be breathed on heavily without disintegrating. I'm like to move the pieces around as I put the puzzle together, and that feature made it impossible for me. I never did finish it.
I agree with you. Puzzles with pieces like that are no fun to do and not worth my time or effort (and I'm no slouch at doing difficult puzzles). I don't even consider them true jigsaw puzzles at all.
The underground changed with gymnastic. The human brain not that much.
You’re great.
Big hug from Holland, Europe.❤️🍀
I LOVE your channel! Greetings from Catalonia
Los americanos no saben dónde está España.. Pues menos Cataluña..
world Love the old vintage puzzle!!!
You have the most interesting puzzle channel in the world!
This one reminds me of a Doctor Who puzzle my friends gave me. The picture is a painting of the TARDIS as if it was done by Van Gogh, with just tons of painterly textured brush strokes. It's the hardest puzzle I've done because after completing the recognizable areas of the image, all the remaining pieces are extremely similar random blue and golden brush strokes. I definitely had to brute force that one, sorting pieces by shape and just trying them one after another.
This looks like a fun one!
Most difficult was the Heye 8000 piece puzzle titled “2000 Years”. I started it when it first came out about 2000. I moved it in sections to 3 different houses over the next 15 years. I finally completed it in 2016. Sadly 6 pieces were lost during those years😭. When I reclaimed my dining room table, I took some final photos, broke up the puzzle and tossed it. As much as I truly loved the puzzle, I did not want to subject a puzzle lover to a challenging puzzle that had missing pieces. Enjoy all your shows and love to watch them all the way to the special word...WORLD!!!
Please don't throw away puzzles. Donate them. I love doing puzzles and I buy puzzles at thrift stores so I can afford to do lots of different ones. It doesn't matter to me if there's missing pieces. Also puzzle pieces are used for art work in some amazing ways. This one artist uses them as mosaic pieces
Awesome =) you did great! Where in the world do you get your puzzles? ^.~
It's a beautiful puzzle! even if it's not the most difficult one in the WORLD. loved the video. I would definitely try it if Icould buy it here in the Netherlands. the most difficult one I have done was my 18.000 pieces. only because of the sheer size of it an large patches of the same colors.
My daughter told me about your channel, so I'm catching up.
I did Convergence back in 1966 or 1967. According to a list of Springbox puzzles you can find at The Puzzle Hobby Site, Little Red Riding Hood's Hood (which I also did back then) cam out the same year as Convergence. Convergence got me started on doing good puzzles. Springbok puzzles back then were the highest quality non-wood puzzles out there in stores. I don't remember Convergence as being very hard, but it was a lot harder than the simple Milton Bradley puzzles most people did.
I love your videos and being part of the puzzling world
I love your channel. I love puzzles too
Your videos randomly came across my CZcams feed at first I was like “what?” But then figured since i have been doing puzzles during this pandemic too lol so I puzzle along with you
yaay! i "voted" to see this puzzle in the next video. Glad to see it here :). The most difficult puzzle I ever did was a 300 piece matrix puzzle... It was almost all dark pieces which didn't even fit properly, so I gave up quickly.... like it was the end of the world.
World. I do enjoy your videos. You inspire me
Hello there. You are the kindest person of the world on youtube! Have came across your channel not long ago. So nice to see and listen to you talking about puzzels. And you have gotten me puzzeling! Never felt for it, but now i enjoy it and i have a new hobby. Thank you for sharing. You rock. Kind regards from the netherlands. Cisca
Greetings from Costa Rica Karen! Love your videos! When is the Heinz Puzzle coming up? Love this one. I wish you do a deep dive review of Clementoni Puzzles, they’re my favorite.
Hopefully soon!
