    Wainwrights Coast to Coast - 2022
    =============================
    At the end of May 2022 I challenged myself to take on the Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk. This is a 192 mile walk starting on the West Coast at St.Bees travelling through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors to finally arrive in Robin Hoods Bay.
    Well....THIS is the toughest day of the coast to coast by far...Shap being the 2nd.
    We stayed on the ground of services and then I had the longest hardest day of the whole walk. It was steep climbs through the forest, then out in the cold claggy air over the tops before 6 massive up and down steep climbs which were a good test.
    After that I saw the long long long gravely and stoney roads through the Yorkshire Moors to the Lions Inn in Blakey Ridge. Not going to lie…this was the hardest slog. It went on and on and on and on and was freezing, windy and starting to spit. Literally never ending and my feet were so sore.
    I eventually made it, god knows how (23 miles) and managed to get to the pub in the middle of nowhere and set my tent up before the worst weather came in. It battered it down.
    That night I had a massive roast dinner (mixed meats) and a few pints and retired to my tent. That night it was really heavy rain and wind all night relentless.
    Stay tuned for Day 10 tomorrow as all the videos will be released daily at 7pm for this series.
    If you would like to know more about the walk or have any questions with the route, the gear or anything else then please do drop a comment below and I will be sure to reply. If you can also like the video and subscribe this would really help my channel and you will be the first to see new videos.
    Thanks for taking the time to check out the video.

    I've had a couple of nightmare days like this but these are the occasions you look back on with fondness knowing that you pushed through undefeated.

    My 12 yr old son loves watching your videos. He has been taking hints and tips from them as he is currently doing the coast to coast and has just completed day 9 and made it to the blue bell inn 😊

      That’s awesome he’s doing that at such a young age that’s really impressive! Tell him good luck on his travels. Imagine he’s pushing possibly to Blakey Ridge tomorrow if he’s going that far which is a tough slog so best of luck to him

    We all crossed the A19 safely, only to nearly be knocked down by a van taking the lefthand corner onto the side road much too quickly. When we got just past the woods and onto the first high point, we got our first view of the sea - 4 days away. Yeah. A walk of 2 halves, steep hills to cross and then mile upon mile of flat rail path to Blakey Ridge, each corner promising to reveal The Lion on the far side, so many of them failing to meet that promise. But the Kronenberg kept a calling!!!

      Aah yes it was a really tough day. I spotted the signs for the Cleveland way as you join it don’t you and thought I wouldn’t be rushing back to that haha

    Loving the videos, you did some long days though. I did Danby Whiske to Lordstones then Lordstones to the lion to make the days a bit shorter and a bit easier. Lordstones to the lion was enough for me never mind making it even harder

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Před rokem +1

      I think that’s a smart way to do it. If I did it again I think I may do that too. Plus Danby Whiske looks like a nice place to stay too

      @@jonathanhinder8478 I’ll try and do one in the next couple of weeks if I can. To be honest ny gear worked well and different for everyone based in weight and budget but if it’s useful I could share what worked for me and maybe any tips. Thanks

    Hey buddy just binged all your coast to coast vids, great adventure. I can’t believe I’ve just found your Insta and CZcams 🤣 It was you that convinced me to buy the 6X Pro.
    Anyway just wanted to say hi, look forward to your next adventure and if you are ever in South Wales give us a shout 👍
    Any chance of a gear load out vid of your hiking and camping kit?

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Před rokem +1

      Aah really? That’s ace. Did you get your watch in the end then? Ace aren’t they. If so, have you sorted it and put the talkytoaster maps on? If not, you need to. Message me on Fb I’ll send you a link. Massive difference as built in maps are awful and there add all the contours and all sorts. About £11 one off I think.
      Sure will, I’ll be hiking a lot as literally just been made redundant last Wednesday. So then on Thursday I decided to not dwell and did the Dales Way, 81 miles over 4 days. Need to edit the vids but hopefully release them daily Thursday to Sunday next week.
      I’ll do a video of gear for that one as to be fair Coast to coast will be fairly similar. Doing that again end of May I think.
      Hope you liked the videos, definitely a tough walk but epic. Feel free to add me on FB and let me know when you’re out and about

      @@krisgleave yeah bought the watch and used your link (I think) for the Talkytoaster maps. Very impressed to be honest with the watches capabilities and the mapping detail is outstanding.
      Gutted for you about the redundancy thing dude 😬 Hopefully something will come along.
      Look forward to your upcoming vids pal, take it easy. Sent you a friend request, Lee Nulty 🙌👊

      Aah great I do remember now thinking back. I don’t know why Garmin don’t just partner with the maps or improve their own it’s crazy.
      Thanks about the videos too really appreciate it. I need to get back out on some day hikes asap too in the Lakes for a few days I think and make some videos too as well as camps.
