- More and more scam artists are posing as celebrities online to steal money from people who are looking for love. NBC10 Responds reporter Tracy Davidson spoke to a victim of the scam and turned the tables on a scammer who was pretending to be actor Shemar Moore.

This is a big problem on Instagram too. I've stopped commenting on verified celebrity accounts because as soon as you do a fake account will contact you. It's so annoying. I immediately block and report them. But there are so many it's ridiculous. So now I don't even comment on celebrity posts anymore and so I don't get those scammers but you still get other random scammers contacting you just delete and block everyone. Don't get to the love bombing phase shut it down at first contact.
I'm sorry but how is it possible to believe what they write? actors or famous people don't ask for money and don't chat with ordinary people.

One thing I have learned from my experience and with the guidance of our federal, provincial, and local police enforcement is that all high-profile entertainers DO NOT have chats or even request money in any amount from their fans or general public.
As soon as money is requested, drop them, they are SCAMMERS.

I understand wanting love but a celebrity (that has prestige, fame, and money) doesn't need money. I feel bad that they can't think logically.

I have been a victim to this exact scammer. He scammed me of $25k. I really need more details about him. The display name They helped me recovered the money lost. But I still need more info from him so that I can have him locked up and prevent other people from being his victim.
and the person he's talking to is most likely a young teenage boy, not even a woman. i'd be leaving him fast.
Sometimes people you love have to go through such experiences it's part of their journey. I would just let them have it after saying my piece. Of he does not learn his lesson now, another similar situation will show up on the future for him.
Buying gifts cards for fake celebrities who are supposed to be rich is pretty much low IQ actions.
Its astounding to me that people will buy so hard into this fantasy, that they will "forget" that these famous people are worth millions in real life, and would easily hop a plane and come see them if they were in love.
Make sure that she doesn't get a secondary scammer claiming to be FBI and asking for money to file things.
Years ago I had a scammer call me saying I owed money to the IRS 😂😂 I lrattled off a string of explatives until they hung up 😂😂😂😂

There's no need to avoid, you can be there and just use discernment and you'll be ok. I see scammers fishing for vulnerable people online and trying befriend them, I call them out on it they never respond to me, just block me instantly. I don't avoid scammers. Scammers avoid me.

Believe it or not. I knew nothing of Johnny Depp. Till the court case. I felt so sorry 4 him.l sent a comforting msg to say I felt 4 him as I had had a similar experience for a long time. You guessed it,I got a reply. It started there.....in short it was a meet and greet pay so much to his management ,who disappeared on getting money. It looked so authentic, I do suspect the scammer was close to him.they knew to much. I got in touch with his management to tell them about the scam .never heard a word back.😮

Ive had fake comments from Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves and Steven Tyler. Crazy.
This happened to me but when I exposed he was a fake it went quiet but I have been getting all this fake profiles from stars mainly Keanu Reeves and his mother and sister. I am fed up as it’s not fair to these artist. They are very Savy even opening fake websites. This is driving me insane any tips to stop them.

This is happening to my sister right now, only it's Jason Beghe, of Chicago PD. she just bought a wedding dress, she thinks they are getting married. Also, he sent a photo of a ring. My sister gets mad at me And cusses me out. because I told her he's a scammer, she already got scammed out of 100.00 now she saying that she's talking to the real Jason, I told her she's on a list for these scammers. so she's an easy target because it's happened before, and this one started on Facebook then had her go onto the WhatsApp. All she gets is SSI. And she is Mentally challenged.

And another scam on Telegram. He found my comment for Tom Cruise. And he said he was Tom Cruise but never showed his face. After some time he started to ask for donations with gift cards. Or asked 200 euro for a meeting with a star. I didn't block him but now I see that he is Kelvin Costner ahaha)))) He never proved his identity

A friend of mine is going through this he actually thinks he is taking and video chatting with Emma Watson. I try explaining stuff to him he actually told everybody else to block him and they don’t like him talking to her. He’s actually believing he’s talking to her still to this day. He thinks they are a thing and they’re supposed to be going on a date and a motel sometime calling it a holidate

I almost got scammed again by an person impersonating Cole Sprouse he wanted me to set up an IRS account which was suspended from an nother person impersonation Cole he said he has several. Gifts for me if i get a fan card and paid the mail fee from FedEx broth of them I didn't send one thin dime one fake Cole told me he was done with me and told me that I am old really so i block and delete him fast .when he asked you are you married or single you ask him is he is in a relationship

Yup had this happen tried to tell me one was talking messages then oh u want to talk with Blake Shelton an aldean an luke Bryan. An the list went on. I knew scam shut it down then found a laptop in my house which was my one sons at one tine until came up missing then convintently found in basement under a bookshelf the laptop has a burner in it would burn songs from other artist i saw exactly went by david on log in. Info intercepted all my emsiks on laptop as well

They are embarrassed but overcome that to tell their stories hoping they might prevent others from similar experiences. It comes with good intent at least.
