- After a wonderful stay in Jakarta, I decided to head to Jogjakarta. Instead of flying, I chose to take the 8-hour scenic train route from Gambir Station to Argo Dwipangga.
I absolutely loved this train ride, and highly recommend it. My friend @timcophoto and our team joined me for another epic adventure!

I did the trip in 2009, after first going to Singapura for 3 days during APEC, then to Jakarta where one of my friends picked me up to take me to Bogor, my usual home base when in Indonesia.
Back then it took more than 14 hours Ekonomi Klas, arriving to disembark at a stasiun before Yogyakarta around 03.30am, where we were met by a reletive of one of the 3 of us.
While there played pool & visited Prambanam, Borobudur, Sultans Palace & Yogyakarta Textile Markets, where we each bought a number of shirts.
The following week I went by Ekonomi Bus to Lubuk Basung Padang Sumatera Barat for a few days before returning to Bogor, leaving the next day, New Year's Eve, to Bangkok for 20 days, then finally returning home to Sydney.

You should walk to the center of the train, in the middle of the train there is a special carriage for the dining train providing snacks,drinks and also eating options👍
Yes, I had all the intentions to go to the middle and see the special carriage with food, but somehow the time got away from me. Next time for sure. :)

Actually in terms of location you're wrong sis.. Yogyakarta is special province and different with Central Java..
Indonesia has 2 special provinces which is Yogyakarta (because its ruled by its King / Governor that not elected) and Aceh (because its has Islamic syariah law) and also Jakarta as a Capital City/Province
