Yes, James is definitely not the first to think of that idea. I actually devised such a system in Baja, Mexico about 20 years ago... the top was made of reinforced concrete with a two way valve and generator. Simple yet very effective.
Very refreshing to see such a direct response to the viewership. Well done, and also for being so diplomatic on the subject. ;-)
YAAAAY!!! YOU DID IT!! 😁 love you dude ❤✌️🙏
lol - anything for you mate!
i feel im learning more from watching one of your videos, more than i learned 10+ years going to school physics
Another interesting way of generating power from the sea is using osmotic energy to use the salt in seawater (but it requires fresh water). It uses a membrane between the salt water and fresh water. I think this is more applicable where rivers meet the sea, or places where you have a lot of fresh water separated from the sea water by a dike. Here in the Netherlands we have such a plant on the Afsluitdijk. The company is called Redstack. I believe Norway is looking at this technology as well... Thought you might be interested. Cheers mate!
I know LPD as that damp fog that soaks you through even though it's not officially raining! ie: 'Light Penetrating Drizzle'!!!
I watched an interview with him, he said it was based on earlier work and gave references to them, I think his valve was the new bit. They were planning on doing a demonstration but it has been held up by paperwork but I'll be very interested to see it in action!
Did you see on vobes channel? Yes I'm keen to see a demo 🙌✌️🙏
The Ocean is very powerful 👍 good ideas
I'm working on pothole power. It seems to an unlimited resource in my area,
Didnt they install one of these plants in Scotland about 30 years ago?
Hi have a look at carew tidel mill from about 16th century South West Wales. It used an under shot water weel to mill flower
Visit any dockyard and you will see thousands of tonnes being lifted every time the tide comes in - that is real mechanical power that could be harnessed to produce energy with some basic engineering without the difficulties of underwater erosion or inefficiencies of compressed air. Any floating vessel that is lifted by the tide could also be utilised as a gravity battery, twice a day every day.
Using LPD drains the energy in the orbital rotation of the moon around Earth, as slowly as that might be. The more energy in that system you use, the slower the moon orbits the Earth which quickens its ultimately orbital decay to the point of finally slamming into Earth. So dooming distant future generations with that fate is definitely something not to talk about if you want sell the idea of LPD to people... good job 👌
What?! No.
It does not work that way. Go take an astrophysics class and come back to correct this post.
Off with you!
Update: Energy Transfer and Orbital Increase: As the Earth rotates faster than the Moon orbits it, these bulges are slightly ahead of the Moon. The gravitational interaction between these bulges and the Moon actually transfers energy to the Moon. This added energy is causing the Moon to slowly move away from the Earth, not towards it. The process is gradual, with the Moon receding at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters per year.
In summary, utilizing tidal energy does tap into the Earth's rotational energy but has a negligible effect on the overall dynamics of the Earth-Moon system. The impact on Earth's rotation is so small that it's not noticeable over short time spans, but it could theoretically have cumulative effects over extremely long geological timeframes.
Thanks Chat GPT!

Oh dear.
LPD in my idea is more direct. Dig a mile deep hole, put a somewhat taller cylinder in it, then pour in hydraulic fluid until the cylinder starts to float. Twice a day the cylinder will become a little lighter and the fluid level will rise up and down. Tap that for energy. In my imagination, the cylinder is a huge habitat which is powered by the orbit of the moon. I did some calculations to show that there really is enough tidal difference in a mile of radius from Earth's center because of the moon, but don't trust my math. Name it after me if it works. The draw back is that the moon will crash into the earth slightly sooner.
Boss: please consider moving your lav mike a few cms higher up your lapel. Your videos are too good to miss details in 🙏
I think wave energy can be super useful in clean up ocean projects. Like the micro plastic cleaner robots..they need to be recharged somehow. We could make a home base plant where the robots would drop off the micro plastic then have the worms that eat plastic farm at the plant base. On the base will be the reservoir for holding wave energy for recharging robots. 🧠 💡
I was thinking of large caverns with access to the tide and using the air pressure created as the tide rises and falls to drive Tesla turbines, a few years ago. It was an interesting pipe-dream, that one. But it would take an Internet-Age Bazalgette to get something like that to fruition.
A big web/net of magnetic "wobblers" would be nice in the atlantic ocean. It could be constuctruted with a 1 x 1 meter web, in a total size of lets say 1000 km x 1000 km, just to make an example. I would love to see this in real life.
That's already been done I believe, with buoys containing 'linear motors' - a permanent magnet oscillating within a coil.
I have long had that idea myself, but mine was closer to the shore. The vertical linear motor being anchored to the sea bed, with a rope attached to a buoy at the surface.
I don't know what is happening on a commercial scale however. There must be something viable somewhere by now, surely?
File that tech under SSDD. :D
The solution for green power generation has to be a multi approace and not just one idea.
Anything marine is subjective to: curation, growths, storms. The maintenance is a killer. What is more, we know the costs well while other plans get by on blue sky guesses.😢
hi, Robert, I have an patent idea for the wave energy. Would we cooperate for this Idea?
There is one method I have not seen with wave power ...... a Hydram. Using a flow of water that is suddenly stopped causing a high pressure "wave". This was usually seen in a stream and allowed water to be pumped up hill to quite high elevations!
The other might be considered a more hybrid ...... Drill a hole in the sea bed. Deep! put a pipe inside the hole and allow seawater to enter the hole. If it is deep enough and hot enough the water turns to steam and that steam exits through your pipe. You could get high pressures of steam as the whole weight of the sea would be "pushing" down with the steam ony able to exit the pipe into a turbine!
So just an idea but can an ESC for a brushless motor be used in reverse to gather energy from the motor instead of controlling it's speed?
I have a number of unanswered questions that you have inspired me to ask because of the videos you have made in the last 2 years, this is just one one many questions. Thank you for re-sparking an interest in energy generation & storage... :)
😊👍
I can't help but think power from the sea is by far the best option. as global climate temperatures increase it's likely that winds overall will decrease. I can be pretty sure though that unless our moon is destroyed by some rogue asteroid, comet or black hole, its pull will always be with us.
Why will atmospheric turbulence decline as temperatures increase?
Salter died last week.

Blasphemy. Sorry. Ocean is not easy, not cheap and not possible yet
