Protests against Covid-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions inspired by Canada’s “Freedom Convoy” are taking place around the world. The movement, kick-started by truckers against cross-border vaccine mandates on January 22, 2022, has now spread as far as New Zealand and Europe.

@Caoimghin MacMarshall I thought the whole thing was started due to vaccination requirements. Only 80% is vaccinated in Canada, not 90%.
@Caoimghin MacMarshall as on the limit, not until most of the population of the world is vaccinated. Currently, most people in poor countries are not vaccinated against covid as they have no vaccine. No one knows how the virus will mutate. If you look at how the world got hold of measles, it was a worldwide effort.
@Caoimghin MacMarshall not according to John Hopkins Medicine. Besides, covid patients have more complications that require hospitalization more than the flu. Furthermore, even some patients who have recovered from covid face long terms health issues not seen in the flu patients. Just because the vaccine doesn't prevent vaccinated people from getting the virus, that doesn't mean the vaccine is not useful. The vaccine does prevent serious illness and death in most cases except those with a weakened immune system.

How about the freedom of those living in the area to have peaceful nights and days, I really pity any shift worker trying to sleep in the neighbourhood with that racket going on all the time, and sleep deprivation is a cause of suicide and insanity.
France, no comment as in their case protests are a way of life. Surprised it wasn't more violent though, usually they are.
No comment on Wellington either, though I know a family member has taken to working from home as a result, the chaos, noise and problems trying to get to work are just not worth the hassle any more. While my brother's comments on the ''protesters'' would break every BNBR rule in the book.
Luckily our protests have all been small with few attending. Thank heaven I live in a normal, sane, country.

Anti-mandates are against the rules of lockdown and vaccine passports. Lots of vaccinated people are supporting this movement and taking part in protests, because continuous lockdown has negatively impacted everyone.

Anti-vaccine: not wanting to get the needle/vaccinated shot. Wanting/choosing to stay unvaccinated from COVID-19
Anti-mandate: not wanting to have to show vaccine passports to go into certain businesses or receiving certain services without a vaccine passport. Basically not wanting to have to show a pass every time you go out to shop or see the dentist, for example.

anti-vaccine would be those who do not wish to take vaccines at all for any reason at all, some may have religious objections and/or some may feel their own healthy body's immune system is sufficient natural protection. anti-mandate would be those, regardless of their personal opinion on vaccines, who are against anyone at all being coerced (mandated) into taking any vaccine at all as this violates basic human rights and international law. this coercion has taken many forms, not only passports to enter some businesses and services, but also travel restrictions and loss of employment. the coercion (mandate) itself is an assault upon freedom of choice with informed consent to choose what one allows into their own body.
freedom-loving persons protesting mandates are not the only ones smeared with the "anti-vaxxer" label, there are also those who are pro-vaccine safety. that is, they are not anti-vaccine, but are demanding that the pharmaceutical companies be held responsible for proper clinical trials that show efficacy and safety for their vaccines and also be held responsible for any and all adverse reactions to their vaccines. presently, the clinical trial results for the "mrna vaccines" are still being released in a piece-meal fashion and the pharma companies are exempt from legal liability for any and all adverse reactions to these "mrna vaccines." you're entirely on your own for any adverse reactions that may befall you or your loved ones in the short or long term.

I don’t know how to feel about this. As a westerner and American, I say that they should be able to have the freedom of choice in this matter, as one would have with the flu vaccine. But the philosophical side of me thinks that freedom is only worthy for those who can use it responsibly, in this case, I think people should take it for the benefit of their fellow citizens. It’s literally just a quick jab and side effects are near zero. Idk though, let me know what you think

@Bakunawa I didnt say anything about traveling, i’m not vaccinated and I can FREELY travel too. Provinces like Quebec have a nightly curfew like we’re a bunch of CHILDREN. Tons of small businesses have been shut down due to lack of business.

The English language or any Latin based language really shows its weakest characteristic--its words are so vulnerable to be embellished. "Freedom", in this context as a personal desire of not being "mandated" by government's policies on public health, is being embellished beyond recognition to its most used meanings of Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Religion or Freedom from being enslaved. These truckers have been "mandated" by government trucking safety rules in their profession and they don't seem to challenge them.

No thank you, if all its doing is increasing my chances of survival, then no one has the right to force me to take it.
