Dude this is saving my life, I would much rather watch this anyday than flip through a service manual
Just got back into Scootering after 35 years and your videos are spot on Robot. Helping me keep my PX on the road 👍
No idea why my recommended showed this to me, but I am not disappointed.
Thanks, Robot. I rely on these vintage vespa videos more than you might think! You helped me to change out the locking mechanism on my column. I was missing a key when I bought it, and ordered the part and watched the video from you guys.
Thanks for posting this-some of us ARE beginners and this was very helpful
Awesome, glad we could help!
Although I've changed many clutch cables on my 66SS180, and 80PX200, I always learn something from watching Robot. Thanks for posting.
Thanks a lot Robot! I'm restoring my mother-in-law's 1978 P 200 E. Your videos are a lifesaver!
Nice one. Like how you explain the importance of tension and play in the cable along with greasing. It would be great to see how you do a change on a cable outer by feeding an old cable inner through as a guide. A lot of people don't know that trick.
Totally with you on the toolkit mate!
Great video robot! Helped so much, was pretty demoralised and stuck until I found your video! Thanks so much for making this and doing it properly, no corners cut! Appreciate it dude
Thank you robot!!! Seriously if it wasn’t for you I would not have my Vespa on the road in perfect riding condition! ScootAZ! Px for life!
Two thumbs up to you!..Great video! Identifying the washers placement, I thought was the best detail you can give, the whole video is Great!!
Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks robot great videos as always!! And you explain everything so simple !! Looking forward for using the tips on my GS160 👍
Thanks for the extra tips! I have a 1980 P125 and while I have tools I never considered cables. I’ll order them tomorrow from ScooterWest tomorrow.
Robot, you are helpful. 20:00mins in you nailed it describing and showing the feel of the bite point on the lever whilst in gear. Thank you.
Have a vespa px 125 2013 and my first vespa i snapped the clutch and this video saved my life and saved money on labour by doing all myself thank you!
Love this guy, So much passion
Thanks Robot! I love your videos! I re entry purchased a 1974 Vespa Rally 200. After installing a new carburetor, it runs very well. Currently, it’s clutch is not disengaging. I’ve completely destroyed a brand new clutch cable so, I’ll order a new one and tackle it’s installation and adjustment when I get it. Thanks again! You make it look so easy! LOL!
I love that you are still going in these difficult times. Great viewing from a sweltering England. Everything is scooter relevant even though I have two Hexagons, a Fly and an ET4 125 Leader, I am eagerly anticipating your next video. I have many motorcycles too and do all the work myself. Only the MOT's are completed somewhere else at my friend's motorcycle shop.
Stay safe and well.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for the support!
Brilliant Robot, thanks for taking the time. Very helpful.
Nice thorough vid,with good tips
Thanks for the heads up. I had a Portland shop do a polini build to my 64 small frame and the clutch slipped out of adjustment before I'd burned a half tank of fuel... don't do business with them any more. Glad to know this is so simple. Thought I'd have to open the case or something.
Robot to the rescue yet again, excellent tutorial, especially when it comes to the washer positions
Thank you Robot, these videos help so much, keep it up.
This video was very informative and simple. Thanks for posting it
Thank you Robot! I purchased an 1984 pk 125 Vespa while in Italia in 2004. My kids asked if we could get it up and running, so here I am learning “how toos” I appreciate you taking the time walking myself and others through the process. I look forward to ordering from Scooter West here in the next couple of days. 👍
Muy buen tutorial felicidades!! Tengo una T5 y me viene bien, saludos desde Pamplona,Spain
Capissimo, Gracias. Aprendí muchísimo con Vos
Thank you! well explained, need it!
Excellent step by step tutorial. I am an engineer and do the maintenance on my PX and this is how I myself do this job. I am sure that most viewers will have the 3 washers missing as a past mechanic who did the cable replacement through them away as he could not get the pin through not knowing the alignment sequence.
Great video Robot, thank you. Will be changing my lever out on my 1987 T5 Mk 1 this week and will be replacing the cable too :) (I noticed the T5 up high behind you lol)
You are always great!
It was the shift cable that always broke on my 1966 Vespa 150. When I finally learned how to lube them with graphite grease those cable drove me nuts. Sometimes I would feed the new cable through the tube and it would get hung up right near the end. I was just a 17 yr. old and was still learning. I miss my Astra Blue Vespa all these years later.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you this was great.
Thanks robot 👍 trying to hold in the clutch arm while tightening the cable is a pain. And difficult to reach. Nice vid. A Vespa PX owner UK.
Love from sri lanka keep it up 🇱🇰❤️
I would like to see a video of replacing not only the cable but the casing that the cable goes in. enjoyed the video very much.. thanks
Thanks a lot Robot for this lovely and helpful video. Just wanted to know whether these vintage vespa sidelights are still available.
Thank you. Going downstairs to do mine. Will order extra cable clamps in case I loose on while riding. ++ ordering correct washer(s) missing today.
Glad it helped
when we were kids and had no money the clutch cable broke and we couldn't afford a new one so we connected it to the rear floor brake, was fun unless the pillion passenger want to lean t the right at the light , then you would stall
Thanks Robot. My clutch cable broke while out for a ride.
Lovely Rally 🙂
Many thanks
Brilliant, thanks Robot 🤖
Rally is the prettiest Vespa to me! And a helpfull video, I think I need more tools in a glovebix of my PX
Thanks for watching!
Have a Rally w/ a broken clutch cable, it's been parked for so long it's not really pretty anymore..
@@sinosoul Bummer. Get it going again!
@@wakeoftheflood2 lol it's STILL down. 2 years now. I blame covid.
Could you guys do a video on replacing bulbs, speedometer and headlight on vintage vespas?I have a 170 vespa 150 sprint.
Just had my gear cable broke on the way to work on my Bajaj, got it home, went to start my LX, and the battery is dead. Needless to say, Had to take the day off, run down to Portland Vespa, get a replacement. Arg.
Thanks for tutorial Robot, you see man.
Great video, got any on the rear brake cable ?
thanks for putting it up, can you make a video how to inspect the engine is running good? my spark plug insulator tip, electorde gets carbonated (black) with fuel surrounding the spark plug threads..this happens even if I drive 5 - 10 miles..
Hmmmm, reminds me must get round to doing mine soon now I am pulling a sidecar.
Thanks again robot 🤖👍
You bet!
Thanks for the tutorial vid! Followed it to the letter, but my new cable is catching at the last millimeter or so. Any advice as to what to do? Really don't want to have to run a new cable pipe.
Have watched your videos for a while now and I am impressed with how thorough your tutorials are! I’m working on a P 200 from 1982, and would like to remove and lubricate the handlebar gear selector. It’s very hard to turn which I can’t attribute entirely to cable lube. Do you have a video for that or if not can you give me a hint or two about how to remove or lubricate it?
Glad you like them, thanks for checking us out! We've got an older video series where we restored a P200. Check out this video where we reassembled the headset. Hopefully there's enough info in there to help you. czcams.com/video/0fTgQy_2wFE/video.html
Perfect! And thank you for the very quick response. I am up here in Ventura and working on that P 200 which has not been running for seven or eight years. I I am getting it back in shape for a neighbor. I own two ET fours Which I brought back from the dead. Is there another forum or way to contact you with other issues I may encounter with this vintage scooter?
Mantap bang
Thumbs up!
Excellent thank you is there some way I could speak with you I need to get in touch with you
Dubble thumbs up for you Robot
1885 mm
Brilliant help, Thanks very much. I wonder fi you might answer one question, my 1980 P 200 E lurches in 3rd gear at about 25 MPH, it does NOT jump out of gear, just a single lurch, any ideas? Thanks again.
likely a worn third gear. 3rd and 4th gear tend to wear. Not too hard to replace, but ya do have to split the engine case to get to it.
Hallo,
I need exactly theese indicators you have on your vespa. do you know where I can get theese?
Hello sir, i need your help, my 50s does chsnge geard but most of the time if i go full throttle i think the clutch slips inbetween gears, and gives a jet sound and wont go off, what do you think is the problem? thank you and stay safe
Hi! You should do a video on how to replace/change rear shocks on a Vespa GTS. Amazingly I´ve only found one usable video on www, and it wasn´t very good
Noted
Cheers
Estimated, my cord and cover were damaged, how do I change it more easily?
👍👍
Does anyone know how to get the outer clutch cable back into the handle bar of 1963 VBB vespa, Similar head to a GS and GL My handlebar needed replaced so I had to pull the clutch cable out of the handlebar (all good the rest is still in the body) So now I'm trying feed that outer back through the cast head casing (that holds the handlebar) into the slot in the new handlebar and it just doesn't want to go through. Next it has to come out the slot further up the other side of the bar and into the alloy clutch lever part. This is an enclosed handle bar case so I can't get in there and guide it like on later models where its much easier to access, Any tips?
Thank you
Help. i cant pull my clutch cable out to replace, its uber tight, i get about 5cm pull with resistance then it shoots back in lever assembly.
i have removed lever, and removed pinch bolts from engine end.
i also slackened off tensioners.
Please help
Wow I need clutch..
I am maintaining Vespa Sprint 1974, I am looking for safe guards front, rear carrier front an rear, wheel cups if any viewers could guide where from U can buy
Check out our website, www.scootwerwest.com We have lots of accessories for vintage Vespa.
Why there is so much empty space between the barrel head of the cable and the actual hole of the lever itself? don't you want a cable barrel that fits precisely the hole of the metal lever so that the barrel doesn't move around?
How did you lay it down to work on it?
Take the side cover off and rest the bike on a milk crate or old car tire, or something
I need a cable and clamps for a 1971 vespa 50cc ??
go to their website, ScooterWest. I bought cables from them too
Capissimo,
What's the length of clutch cable of vespa px 125
