- In this video we install the CVF Street Intercooler on the Mustang Ecoboost! This intercooler supports up to 500HP so should be more than what I need! Build quality is amazing for the price and so far, I am very satisfied. I will give an update video once I have had some time with it. Thanks for watching!

i applaud folks who take time to do this. i bought my ecoboost to commute. i like it because its quiet and unassuming
Nothing wrong with that! Stock it’s a nice comfortable ride for sure!
An IC wont really change the sound. I really consider this a reliability modification for the car. It cools off faster, lowers the temp going into the engine, flows better (yes it maintains factory power levels longer). Basically heat is the enemy weather its sitting in traffic or rolling down the road. Mine is a vert daily driver and in the 10 minutes it takes to get to work the factory IC is 20-30 degrees above the outside temp unless there is traffic it will hit 50+ and take forever to cool down at freeway speed 65-70mph. This CVF one the temps start dropping by the time you are going 25-30mph. Since I dont really push it it usually cools almost down to ambient temp or within a couple degrees. But I am in Texas and it can get pretty hot here seems to me cooler air going in is better for the engine.
Great informative video. Thank you! I always wondered what the Grille shutters were for😊
I have the same intercooler and it does such a good job. Best mod I did for sure
Nice! I am loving it too! Thanks for watching!
Do you think I should buy instead of the race intercooler?
@@DaRealSonic depends. Do you plan to build your car to be over 400whp and live where it can get over 100 degrees Fahrenheit? If so I'd get the race but if not the cvf street is more than good enough.
@@TaysonPlaysGuitar definitely plan to be over 400whp building it to slay v8s. Might have to spend that 500$ 😅
@@DaRealSonic definitely do bro you wont regret it
I work at a shop and usually a parts of body tech will put a piece of tape on parts that need to painted and your first number is prabably an RO number so your passenger door/fender were painted most likely
Oh interesting! I was wondering what might have happened there when I saw that. Yikes. Thanks though
Thanks man! This helped me so much with my install! BTW, trying to find the video with your cool near field CZcams logo...
Your very welcome! Thanks for watching! Hmm not sure what logo your referring too? I’ve had a few lol
hey man!! i am going to be replacing my grill so i figured i would go ahead and attempt this project too while the bumper is off. Do i need any supporting mods for the intercooler upgrade? an accessport is in my future
I installed the MAP Performance Street Intercooler on my 2021 2.3 High Performance ecoboost, I did it from the bottom and it took me about an one hour twenty minutes total from start to finish, I also installed a Roush closed lid cold air intake as well. The MAP street intercooler and the Roush closed lid cold air intake work very well together. I have seen 2 to 3 degree difference between ambient air temperature and intake air temperature when cruising and routinely see a 5 degree difference between ambient air temperature and intake air temperature. Replacing the stock intercooler is a good upgrade on these Mustang ecoboost engines.
Explain 5 degree difference. 5 degrees cooler (no possible) or warmer, and at what what outside temp?
And omg the hardest part of my intercooler is install was taking the bumper off carmax did me dirty and had so many different types of bolts holding it on together
Ha I bet especially if all the bolts were different! Next level lol
Brave man! I'm freaked out about taking the front end off and not being able to get it lined up exactly right again! My OCD.....
Lol yeah I get that! The first time I did it I was a little nervous but not to bad! Thanks for watching!
I broke the clips on my 2016 bumper getting it off but some quik latches from cjponyparts fixed it
planning on doing this next on my '18 any check engine lights pop up?
Do you need a tune after you do this installment? & does it fit a 2020 mustangs Ecobost?
Any updates on if you had any downsides to removing that active grill shutter? Also, do you know if those grill shutters are on both base and premium ecoboost trims?
Where in GA are you located? I have done some similar mods to my 2015.
I have a 2018 eco. Wanna upgrade both the charge pipes and the Intercooler. i already have a Cold air intake. my only question is what charge pipes would fit my blow off valve? i have a kompact dual port shortie blow off valve. i saw on the website it said for stock Flange
I'd agree. I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing.
How much extra power did the new intercooler make?? at least a extra hundo
I haven’t dynoed the car so not sure to be honest! But going pro tune soon so I’m hoping for a bit of a jump!
How much hp this adds?
I haven’t checked I have my check engine light on I ripped out my front shutter bc I got the full race but the main code I know I have is my stock bov bc I upgraded to the 50mm race port turbo smart but idk it doesn’t bother me loll
Oh gotcha! Yeah doesn’t bother me either lol
Cool man i got the Wagner Evo 2 in traffic i reach 130 but as soon as i start going it goes 80 to 90 inlet temp and im here in Miami that its hot and humid down here let me know what your inlet temp go to.
Very nice! Yeah I have noticed that in traffic temps still climb but as soon as I get moving it seems to stay around 10-15 degrees above ambient temp! So not too bad!
@@daily_driven Cool man Yeah mine the harder i hit it the lower temps go down i really don't ride my car hard i was going to get Mushimoto intercooler but my tuner recommended me the Wagner Evo2 competition intercooler and he got it for me for $695 everywhere else it was going for a grand i even called American Muscle and they had it for $950 So my tuner really helped me out.
What is that front bumper? Looks so cool! Can anyone tell me what it is?
Thanks! This is just the stock bumper with a GT grille. Nothing crazy. Thanks for watching!
It's the stock bumper for the 2018 and up models
I’m sufficiently impressed you removed the bumper cover by yourself in your garage. I was an insurance appraiser for many years and have seen it done at body shops, but not sure I would attempt it myself. Like the other person said, looks like your car had some work at a body shop at some point. If you can’t spot it, then hopefully it was good work. I have a 2020 Eco and now want to upgrade the intercooler, but I’m just going to throw my 10 mm in the storm drain so I’ll have an excuse not to attempt it.😿🙀
Thanks! Yeah not too bad just quite a few little bolts. No extra hardware so that’s good! Yeah it does seem like that I’m going to have to look close and see if I can tell. Lol yes throw the 10 mm out! 😂
You don't have to put the motor off the active Grille shutter and plug it back in it doesn't throw a code just to let you know but anyway heck yeah that is super nice
That’s interesting, mine actually still throws a code even though I plugged it back in. But it’s a secondary code so no check engine light. But thanks!
@@daily_driven how can you tell if no cel
@@Camdynslife I decided to just read for any codes with the access port and a code for the active shutters was in there. Cleared it out but I came right back. Thankfully no light lol
@@daily_driven oh ok yea I didnt check mine but I did go to Stage 2 when I put my intercooler in my Inlet air temperature pulls 1° less than what the temperature is outside let me know what yours is to compare
I’ll have to check! Not sure what the inlet air temp difference is but my charge air temps come down much faster that’s for sure.
I took off my shutter system off my car and the check engine light still went off even tho I put the motor back on
Yeah I have a code as well. Doesn’t turn on the check engine light but if I scan it, it shows up. Not sure yet how to go about that.
@@daily_driven the only way I seen getting around is to do a tune for it which my next upgrade 😁😁😁
Ha very true!! Nice!
Do you recommend this intercooler instead of the race intercooler? Need to know before I buy lol
The street is great! Really depends on what your doing with the car. If your going for FBO and tune then the street is plenty but if your going to go big turbo later on you probably just wana get the race. I went with the street since I don’t track my car and only plan to go FBO and e30 at some point lol
@@daily_driven I’m trying to go FBO, tune and maybe a nx2 so you think the race is the best bet? Or save my dollar with the street intercooler?
Gotcha, are you taking the car to the track? Doing back to back runs? If not I would say the street would be more than enough. It can hold up to 500hp.
@@daily_driven just going to be doing a little street racing bro. Mainly digs
@@daily_driven so with FBO , tune and nx2 I’ll still be under 500whp?
also i'd be getting the cvf intercooler but not the one in this video. (the big ass intercooler)
