Wonderful! I found out that I had pending notification (products arriving from Amazon on the way) I disabled a few of them. Now there is no color on the bottom of my Echo. Now I don't have to unplug the device or worry that it will wake me up. I'm so grateful to you. My neighbor upstairs has an Echo and I sent her a message and she got it! That is really cool. She is in my contacts on my smartphone.
That's awesome, glad to hear this video helped you out. And yes, being able to send contacts messages is a pretty nice (and sometimes underused) feature. 🙂
Thanks this was really helpful. Although after watching this I totally wish I could make echo sound like that funny robot helium voice you overlayed throughout this video. For some reason that was such a nice touch.
I need help because it's driving me insane. My echo dot just started playing a chime sound after every command. She says okay! Then it's followed by a flute sound. Freaking sucks!
Hmm that's odd. It almost sounds like brief mode, but with some bugs. Try turning the Echo off and on again (standard advice sorry 😅), and also double check your whisper and brief mode settings.
@@SmartHomePoint right! It has to be! I called Amazon and tech and there's a small set of people out there in the wild that is having the same issues. It's not the start or end response. It sounds like a mid evil flute. It's the strangest thing ever. I've tried all the different modes. I even asked Amazon to fix the on going issue. I'll try it again. I'll restart everything. @@SmartHomePoint I FOUND OUT WHY!!!!! Avatar theme was automatically enabled. So it gives wierd distinctive sounds from the movie. Out of no where. Alexa asked if we wanted to disable it lol. I would have had that Avatar sounds enabled probably as long as I lived lol never finding out what it was!
Thank you for your informative video. My Alexa started making church bells noises at 7:59 a.m. every morning, including weekends despite no alarm being set for that time. (I have a weekday 7:00 a.m. alarm only, and it's not a church bells sound). This started after I unplugged Alexa for 10 seconds and plugged her back in one evening after she suddenly became non-responsive. I followed your advice to find the source of the rogue alarm and found nothing in the history of voice commands and found no forgotten set skills or other alarms or routines. Weird. 😳 I guess I will have to do a factory reset to hopefully clear this and I will never know what caused the mystery church bells alarm.🤔
Hey Brenda, thanks! That's very weird, sorry to hear that you couldn't track down the culprit. Yes hopefully a factory reset will stop this re-occurring ☹️
Thanks for the video. My echo was making a high pitched beep once every 5 seconds. As soon as I asked it to play my notifications and cleared those out, it went away.
Thanks. I was being woken up by a random noise in the middle of the night. Long story short, I had enabled a snoring routine and since I usually don't snore when I do it would ....
I hear what sounds like a chair moving away from the table - randomly - through the Echo device - this has happened 3 times now - I live alone - there is a neighbor living underneath - downstairs - I always hear her moving in her chair, which is rather loud - same sound as what I hear through the Echo device - can my neighbor piggy back on my Wifi and use my Wifi and listen in through my Echo device if she too has an Echo device. How can I prevent others from intruding ? I am not saying she is, but how do I safeguard my Wifi and Echo device -
Sorry to hear of that, it does sound a bit disconcerting 🙁 The feature you mention would be Alexa "drop in" (or the calling feature), which both allow for someone else to listen through an Echo. If this is activated, your Echo will have a flashing green light. But to check if this is on or not, go to the Alexa app, then devices, and select your Echo. Then go to the Setting cog, and "Communication". Try disabling everything here.
I have the 5th Gen Echo Dot and today it was making a chime noise. I asked in different ways about the chime, no help. Then I just said stop making that noise and that worrked.
ah thanks so much…. my parents got a new wifi and all new router so once she got disconnected from the old stuff and connected to new she started making a beeping noise every night at 3:17am. it started to creep me out but the beep sounded like I was turning up the volume and started lightning up in a white ring.
Hunt around the Alexa app. Firstly check the activity history and see if anything appears in the middle of the night. If not, try seeing if you have any routines or alarms set (although it doesn't sound like an alarm).
I wonder if anyone has gotten high pitch screech at random times? This has started happening to me over the past week, unfortunately some of those random time are at like 4 or 5 AM!
@@nobodynobody6415 Not yet, that's why I posted here yesterday. I did try something this morning, I moved it to a different location. It was located next to my computer monitor (which has speakers), and I read another post somewhere about it possible being interference from other devices. We shall see, I moved it away about 6 feet from anything electronic. Now I just wait.............
Ugh, sorry to hear about this both. I don't know of any obvious reason for this :/ I'll keep an ear out (so to speak), and reply back if/when I hear of a fix for it.
Hey if you can reply to me my plug like the plug that goes in the wall not the echo is making a squealing noise even if the cable Is not in the Alexa or wall socket
Hmm, it's hard to say for sure but it sounds like a faulty plug. You might want to consider returning it for a refund or replacement. I have two smart plugs (Hue and Kasa), and neither make a squealing noise.
Hmm that's very odd 😕 It might be worth trying to remove the Spotify integration and settings fro. Alexa, and then setting it up again. There's no obvious reason why that might be happening.
THanks. My Echos randomly make a RING sound with nothing detected on RING. My RING sounds are changed, the sensitivitys and zones are set to minimal. It wouldn't bother me but our dog named ECHO (nichnamed DOT) barks everytime she hears it. Guess it's time for a factory reset of both and reinstall apps.....
My echo dot has been (4th generation) emitting a high pitched noise randomly. At first, I thought it was my Ring stick up cameras, but it is indeed my Echo dot. Could a nearby fan be doing this? If not, how do I get this damn noise to stop? I reset it, unplugged it etc.
Ugh that's creepy 😱 It almost sounds like a hardware issue to be honest, it shouldn't be making that sort of noise. Maybe see if Amazon will replace it for you? (Their online chat can be quite good at making exceptions even when it's out of the returns period)
Mine started doing a loud pitch noise, you those that bothers your ear like 4 times a day for a out 3 seconds. Don't know why it's doing it, but today it did it at 3 a.m and woke me up.
@@davidzavala337 I found out what happened to mine. Not saying that the same thing is happening to you, but my Amazon rings and Alexa stuff got hacked. NEVER ASK UR ECHO TO PLAY ANIMAL SOUNDS!!!!! SHE WONT STOP UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE LET THEM PLAY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN IGNPRE HER!!!! That’s how I wound up here because I asked her 78/6 and she’s told me then played animal sounds for the rest of my online class :p
Haha, sorry to hear of your experience (even though it is a tiny bit funny... 😄). But yes, sometimes the skills bug up on Alexa and they keep playing - even after stopping them. The only solution I've found is to yank out the power cord lol.
The steps I cover should hopefully shed some light, but I'd guess that the Ding Ding Dong Dong could be an alarm. You should be able to ask your Dcho what alarms are set, or just check the Alexa app if not (Alexa app, click settings in the bottom right, then click Alarms and Timers).
That usually means an alarm for the morning is set, and you said it to play the news after you stop your alarm. Check your routine section, or just in the app basically.
