This is awesome. The goal for me was that I unplugged my car to go on vacation. When I restarted the car 3.5 months later there was a battery discharge warning. Resetting the electronics fixes that. You need to press and hold that button obviously..but also you need to turn the button to the right to get to the next sub-menu sometimes.

My Keys don't always identify with my car, meaning I have to use the key to open the door, and then it starts ok, but this is intermittent, I am told its the immobilizer. I hope a reset cures it. I will report back if it does. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Possibly if you buy the exact same battery but I'm betting not. I imagine you've already figured out the answer by now.

Is this the same as resetting and registering a new battery for my BMW 335i 2008? It's is totally expensive to do the resseting on a dealer.

@@BackStabberJeff yes. Unfortunately this isn't the same as registering a new battery. You must use a specific tool to do the process.
@@linkmasterquest i been to a service and they used a normal diagnosis tablet....
@@BackStabberJeff that does the job nicely too. Some tablets have that option to register the battery.
if I'm correct you can also register the battery toggling through the menu. I did on my car 2005 645ci

I'm having an electronic fault. I was told my cluster may be going bad. Could resetting the software fix that issue? Is there any value in removing cluster, verifying a good connection and putting cluster back in?

i resseted a brake pad service front and back. on the same way we resset service and oil and now it doesnt show any milage its giving me a service light to replace them and my brake pads are almost new i changed them two monts ago. now everybody says that i need to replace the sensor now. would the reset help with that.

sorry to dig up an old post , i had he roof open to replace a window regulator and the door was open, the lights where on auto so have basicaly flattened the battery

Nah. Its mehanical fault in your case
Sounds like a faulty footwell module, my E87 did the same

Anthony Burciaga that’s your FRM module got fried. like the guy above said. I have the exact car and it was under some extended warranty. They have to run a test $150 and if the test reveals what you have everything is free and upgraded too. Out of warranty costs crazy like $1500 cuz they gotta program it to your vin too.
Extended warranty by BMW cuz it’s a known issue, but it’s not life time so act ASAP. I had it done on 9/2019
All four windows wouldn’t go up and I had no turn signals not even hazards.

would this help my SOS malfunction? i still have sound from radio/aux even when the symbol is showing on my dash. I read in most cars you need a fiber optic most loop but the people who use it mostly have no sound from anything. Thanks again !

Hi,e90 320i no spark no injection,tried everything even removed the hole harness to check any open circuit,took my ecu for testing it happened everything is fine changed my crank sensor ,took the white box for testing but it’s also fine, can resert help me

No way... It literally has nothing to do with it.. It basicly resets fuel consuption meter / date / time and similar stuffs 🤞🏿

BossM5 what about service details? The issue I am having is that my vehicle check service light won’t reset...However, am not sure if doing the reset you are showing resets all the service details for everything?

No, it has nothing to do with ECU map of your cars engine
I did this and nothing happened . I changed alternator and starter and spark plugs and ignition coils and battery . You needa code reader specifically for bmw full system scanner 129.99 amazon !!! I ordered it hasn't came in yet . Been push starting it for a week now .

You have to press the button for at least 2-3 seconds then start switching to 2.0 , 3.0 , 4.0, ... etc

I got a 06 325i my fuel gauge barely moves would this fix that or is it a fuel pump issue
Give it a try! It might be fuel tank sensor, not fuel pump issue

hi mate i know this is nothing to do with video but just wondered if you knew anything about it basically when i’m on the motorway and going around 80mph my passenger window even though it’s all
the way up seems to be getting a slight draft coming through from the top somewhere as you can hear it whilst driving like the window is barely open an there’s a gust but it’s not open at all
Happened to me in my coupe as well, it's a common issue in E92 series while going highspeed. I never really investigated this issue, try checking BMW forums!
You should probably adjust your doors. It says in my Bentley book that the front and rear doors can be slightly misaligned from the factory and they were right. My front door was a quarter inch higher than my rear door where they meet. I recommend opening the door all the way, put a scissor jack under the middle of the door with a rag on top and crack the nuts loose on the door at the hinge. Then adjust the scissor jack up or down (whatever you need). Your window probably isn't sealing somewhere because of this. IF you don't think this is it then maybe check out the rubber trim piece at the base of the window and see if it is popping up anywhere. I replaced that too on mine and it quieted some wind noise.
Quentin Downey I wouldn’t recommend doing that to your car to be honest, my E92 has this problem too, and what can be done to fix it is you can actually adjust the door latch, open the door and you’ll need a torx to loosen the bolts on the latch, only loosen them slightly so the latch can move so it remains stable and try moving the latch in towards the car by a few mm. it could take a bit of adjusting to get right, but adjust it, close the door making sure it closes ok and then drive and see how it is and adjust more if need be
Also to clear up any confusion about the door latch in my previous comment.. when you open the door the latch that needs adjusting isn’t on the door it’s on the body of the car itself, it’s what the door latches on to. As some people might be looking on the actual door for latch adjustment which isn’t the right one

I hit reset by mistake and it shows km instead of miles. How to get back to miles instead of km. idrive still shows it in miles, but it displays it in km.

.mine was a bit different to this process. Had to use the up down function button on the headlight flasher. Just.play around. They are all similar but not the same

After resetting #21, my mpg DROPS when the car is at stop. I have tried resetting the avg mpg using the indicator stalk button. Before the reset it did not do this. Did this happen to your car? Thanks.
Yep my moves when I'm driving then drops when I'm stoped
That's normal. It knows car is at a idle so it automatically detects 0mpg and turns sensor off till you move back again

I'm 90% sure it wont mess with the custom codes because this has nothing to do with ECU software, it just resets DATE, TIME, FUEL CONSUMPTION, METRICS, basically it resets your board computer software and has nothing to do with MAIN CAR SOFTWARE which includes programming such as lights, horsepower increase etc...

Hi i have plugged in a seatbelt occupancy as my seatbelt warning was coming on even when no one was in seat but now my seatbelt extender doesn’t work because I have plugged the occupancy in will a reset make it work again?
I have the same issue. Reset will not make this work ... there are tutorials on YT on have to fix your problem try searching... I haven't fixed mine yet :(

No? What is wrong? Video is very simple... go to menu number 19 and enter your VIN number ( 13 is my VIN number ) .... after you enter VIN number in menu "19" go to menu "21" to reset software!
Where did you get 13 in your Vin number?
